Position Overview
The Food Service Specialist is a front-line role within our campus Starbucks location that also carries supervisory responsibilities. This position supports daily operations by performing a variety of tasks, maintaining service standards, and ensuring compliance with all UNT Dining Retail policies and procedures. The Food Service Specialist also plays a key role in mentoring and training new team members and student workers, contributing to a positive and efficient work environment.
Minimum Qualifications
Six months of general work experience.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
* Ability to follow oral and written instructions; ability to maintain records and complete forms accurately.
* Ability to apply mathematical concepts to complete tasks (example: collecting cash and making change).
* Knowledge of the care and use of food service equipment and kitchen utensils.
* Knowledge of health hazards in food preparation and service and necessary precautionary measures.
* Knowledge of safety and security precautions appropriate to work performed.

Job Duties:
- Support food preparation and presentation, ensuring all items meet established quality and safety standards. Continuously monitor the freshness and quality of food to maintain consistent excellence.
- Ensure cleanliness and organization in all food service areas, including kitchens, dining spaces, and storage areas. Follow proper food handling, storage, and disposal procedures to comply with health and safety regulations.
- Deliver outstanding customer service by warmly greeting and assisting customers, answering questions, and promptly addressing any concerns. Maintain a positive, professional demeanor in a fast-paced, customer-oriented environment. Adhere to all university policies, health codes, and safety standards at all times.

Previous food service experience preferred
Must have or acquire food safety certification
Demonstrates guest service skills
This role may have physical demands including, but not limited to, lifting, bending, pushing, pulling and/or extended walking and standing. This role may also require uniforms and/or usage of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).
