- Bachelor's degree in linguistics, communication, translation, or a related field is preferred.
- Strong passion for languages and a keen interest in pursuing a career in the language services industry.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills with a meticulous attention to detail.
- Proficiency in at least one language in addition to English is highly desirable.
- Familiarity with language services, such as translation, interpretation, localization, or transcription is advantageous.
- Exceptional organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple projects and prioritize tasks effectively.
- Proven ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team environment.
- Proficiency in using computer software and tools, including Microsoft Office Suite or project management applications.

The Educational Interpreter provides interpreting and support services to Deaf and Hard-of-Hearing students mainstreamed in the school district.
Job Responsibilities
Provides expressive and voice interpreting for Deaf and Hard-of-Hearing students in mainstream classes (this may include American Sign Language, Manually Coded English, Pidgin Signed English, and/or Oral Interpreting).
Under the supervision of the classroom teacher, provide tutoring services as necessary of Deaf and Hard-of-Hearing students when it does not interfere with the task of interpreting.

Serve as a liaison to promote good public relations between the Deaf and Hard-of-Hearing students, hearing peers, staff, and faculty members.
Lead or assist in providing in-services to hearing students, staff and parents as requested in regards to sign language.
Provide interpreting for school functions outside of the classroom, extracurricular activities, and parent meetings when available (Interpreting services provided outside of normal school hours would be compensated accordingly).
Maintain professional standards as delineated in the Code of Ethics of the Registry of Interpreters for the Deaf.

We are looking for a Sign Language Interpreter to work in our special education department. The SLI will work closely with teachers and paras to assist students as needed. The school serves students in grades K-8.
The Educational Sign Language Interpreter is a trained professional who facilities communication between deaf or hard-of-hearing students and others within an educational setting. Often, American Sign Language (ASL) is used to interpret spoken language into sign language and vice versa, which ensures students have accommodations to classroom instruction, activities and learning discussions.
Minimum Requirements:
+ Proficiency in American Sign Language
+ Associates degree or Bachelors degree in interpreting, deaf studies or related field, preferred
+ State Board of Education Initial Sign Language Interpreter Certificate (as applicable)
