Job Description:
- Supervise key aspects of the SEC and FERC reporting process, including drafting disclosures, processing changes, ensuring accuracy and consistency throughout the document, maintaining quarterly list of disclosure items and coordinating with the printer.
- Interact with Business Units, Controller's Group, Investor Relations, Treasury, internal and external legal counsel, and the internal and external auditors to accomplish goals and ensure efficiency and effectiveness of information exchange.
- Research and appropriately apply new accounting pronouncements; benchmark SEC filings from other companies.
- Complete key financial and disclosure controls to ensure a strong control environment.
- Assist as appropriate in the supervision of staff accountants, including the review of information prepared to ensure completion of tie-out binders, checklists, etc.
Requirements
POSITION SPECIFICATIONS
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting or equivalent and a CPA
- At least 8 years of related experience, including 3 years in management with demonstrated success leading a professional staff
- Demonstrated technical knowledge and understanding of Accounting theory, principles, practices and regulations including FASB/GAAP, SEC and SOX compliance
- Understands requirements for documentation in work papers, disclosures and memos; demonstrated ability to document a broad range of technical issues

Job Description
+ Assist with development and maintenance of critical global accounting policies and help define ongoing process for technical accounting research and global policy setting

As part of the Corporate Controller's Department, the SEC Reporting group is responsible for the preparation of annual, quarterly, current, and other reports filed with the Securities and Exchange Commission (e.g.,10-Ks, 10-Qs, 8-Ks), and for supporting earnings release materials and investor presentations for The Charles Schwab Corporation (NYSE: SCHW). **What you have**
+ Bachelor's degree or higher in Accounting - CPA license preferred.
+ Minimum of 5 years of U.S. GAAP accounting and financial reporting experience required - public accounting experience a plus.

_This role is a key contributor to the SEC Reporting function and is responsible for supporting the Chief Accounting Officer's external reporting strategy. This role supports the planning, development and filing of periodic reports with the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission, including the quality and timely delivery of the quarterly 10-Q's and annual 10-K (as well as 8-K, 1933 Act registration statements, and other required reporting), as well as collaboration with Investor Relations during their development of earnings materials (earnings release and earnings script). This position is responsible for supporting the evolution of various reporting processes through technology innovation and process optimization, while being a primary point of contact representing the SEC Reporting team in our internal monthly close processes. The filings led by this function are of the most visible and scrutinized public documents and their presentation and accuracy is critical the Home Depot. This role also oversees the preparation of our cash flow statement, as well as various internal reporting deliverables including materials provided directly to executive leadership and the Board of Directors. This role will be exposed to several different areas of responsibility, requiring the agility to manage multiple deadlines and organize a status list in order to ensure timely communication of progress and support the overall effort to prioritize and adapt resourcing needs of the team as needed._
**Key Responsibilities:**
+ 40% Planning, Forecasting, and Reporting - Lead the development of annual budgets, quarterly forecasts, and monthly financial reports. Utilize advanced financial modeling techniques to create detailed forecasts and provide variance analysis to explain key financial trends. Deliver clear, comprehensive reporting to senior leadership, highlighting critical insights and potential risks. Support month end close processes.
+ 30% Preparing and Delivering Insights - Develop and present financial analysis both visually and verbally to business leaders. Address projects and strategies, and answer questions through the lens of strong financial controllership. Provide actionable recommendations through a solid understanding of business operations and financial impacts resulting from decisions.
+ 20% Cross-Functional Collaboration - Sr. Financial Analysts work closely with business leaders up to and including VPs to understand their business operations. They may also partner with stakeholders across finance and accounting operations to develop strong line of sight to financial inputs and outputs so that business and financial stories can be explained.

Reporting to the Chief Accounting Officer, this role will lead the Company's Financial Reporting function and be an integral component of Finance's risk management and reporting process, driving consistent application of accounting policy and financial reporting across the company. The successful candidate will combine a strong technical skill set with exceptional organizational skills in order to successfully lead quarterly and annual reporting cycles. This is a critical and high-profile position that will play a crucial role in financial reporting and other statutory and regulatory filings.
*What You'll Be Doing (i.e., Job Duties)*
* Lead the preparation of all quarterly and annual filings with the SEC, in accordance with U.S. GAAP and SEC regulations, including preparation of monthly balance sheets, income statements and quarterly statements of stockholders' equity and preparation of disclosures.
* Assist in coordinating the review and approval of quarterly and annual SEC filings by all relevant parties, including the Disclosure Committee, Audit and Compliance Committee, external auditors, and internal and external legal counsel.
* Support Investor Relations through tie out and other quality assurance review of their externally published materials, and prepare and file the earnings release 8-K.
* Prepare the accounting/finance portion of quarterly Disclosure Committee and Audit Committee decks and present at the Disclosure Committee meeting.
* Lead the Maintain SEC reporting calendar and project manage the SEC reporting process to conform to this calendar, efficiently and effectively coordinating across teams.
* Coordinate with accounting policy on new accounting standards issued by the FASB and accounting and reporting guidance issued by the SEC to determine the impact to the company's disclosures, including writing position papers as needed.
* Support management in completing special projects as assigned and be a financial reporting resource for ad-hoc questions and initiatives.
* Responsible for the coaching, mentoring and management of the SEC reporting team, including across multiple time zones in a mostly asynchronous environment.
* Ensure SEC reporting processes and disclosures represent best practices, recommending and assisting in the implementation of disclosure and process improvements as appropriate, including simplifying, standardizing, and streamline processes.
* Perform financial reporting controls, including clear documentation of work/review performed.
