ROLE & SCOPE:
The Utility A is responsiblefor assuring that all gas construction and maintenance work that is completed is performed in accordance with Company, State, and Federal regulations. This includes inspections, repairs, and leak survey.
QUALIFICATIONS
1. High School Education or equivalent
2. Must have 3 years of Gas Distribution experience.
3. Experience working with heavy equipment.
4. CDL Drivers' License Class A required.
5.Ability and willingness to perform heavy physical work indoors and outdoors in all seasons and at times for extended periods.
6.Must have a work history that demonstrates safe work habits.
7. Must pass and maintain all operator qualification requirements dictated by department.

As a Gas Technician, you will play a vital role in piping residential and commercial natural gas services, securing the flow from meter to existing fuel lines, and ensuring the safe operation of customer appliances.
We are looking for highly motivated and talented individuals to join our dynamic team as Gas Technicians.
As a Gas Technician, you will play a vital role in various aspects of natural gas infrastructure projects, contributing to the safe and efficient operation of these systems. This position involves working outdoors in diverse weather conditions, ensuring the uninterrupted supply of natural gas to our customers. While previous natural gas construction experience is preferred, we will train those candidates who are eager to learn and grow in this field.
We seek both entry level and experienced individuals. Base pay for this position will be dependent on qualifications outlined below as well as the specific county the work is performed in (Prevailing Wage). We are hiring in all locations throughout Western, Central, Southern Tier and the Capital Region of NY.
Key Responsibilities:
- Safely and efficiently perform a wide range of tasks necessary for the successful execution of natural gas infrastructure related projects.
- Collaborate with the team to work on diverse job sites, including public right of ways, private properties, commercial establishments, and residential areas.
- Take responsibility for the maintenance, cleanliness, and safe storage of company equipment and materials, ensuring their availability for project execution.
- Follow instructions, guidelines, and industry standards meticulously to ensure the highest standards of quality, safety, and accountability.
- May be required to operate skid loaders or similar equipment skillfully, as required, to support the smooth progress of projects.
Required:
- Ability to pass Operator Qualification Testing for Natural Gas work, demonstrating a solid understanding of safety protocols and operational procedures.
- Possession of a valid Driver's License, clean driving record and/or CDL (Commercial Driver's License) preferred, enabling you to contribute to transportation needs efficiently.
- Demonstrated physical capability to lift and move heavy objects, with a minimum lifting capacity of 100 lbs.
Required:
- Meet or exceed all requirements for Grade Level 1 and
- Minimum of 2 years' experience with underground utility construction and installation.
- Possession of NGA, National Grid, or other recognized gas association 70 and 71 Operator Qualifications.
•High School Diploma or Vocational training in a closely related field.
•OSHA 10 and OSHA 30 Certifications.
•Proven mechanical aptitude.
•Proficiency in operating backhoes or similar types of equipment as needed.
•Willingness to work flexible hours including weekends.
