Description
SAIC is seeking a Geospatial Engineer (GE) to support an enterprise SATCOM program. The candidate must understand the fundamentals of satellite orbital mechanics, computer networking, web-based software application design, digital signal processing, and RF communications. The candidate must also be able to support customer engagement by providing technical support to new and existing user groups. This support includes in-person demos and presentations as well as ad hoc online technical assistance.
Job Duties Include:
- Manipulate and display SATCOM beam data and assist with processing large quantities of data, as well as field customer questions regarding device aiming and/or movement in beam centers due to satellite's inclination and eccentricity, and field general orbital mechanics questions, primarily regarding geosynchronous satellites.
- Willing to learn the associated tools for tasking, planning, research and data routing of the SATCOM program, as well as tools for operations center support and system health/performance monitoring.
- Provide frequency selection assistance, perform spectral surveys, provide near 24 hour technical support to customers in the field.
- Analyze system performance and participate in system-of-system level troubleshooting, working with disparate system engineering teams to identify, analyze, and resolve technical issues and verity modifications with enhancements.
- Frequency Management support, involving direct work with users and the broad frequency management community (e.g. FMWG), to help ensure continued access to the RF spectrum.
- Perform day-to-day operational support for the planning and tasking of the operational system, providing Systems Engineering and Integration expertise for planning, requirements gathering, and validation, for smooth integration to operational system.
- Leverage associated tools for tasking, planning, research, and data routing of the SATCOM program, as well as tools for operations center support and system health/performance monitoring.
- Use enterprise messaging services, conduct operational surveys, and generate travel cables and system notification to AOR.
- Follow standard operating procedures to provide support for the infrastructure and customers during live testing and operations.
- Responsible for monitoring network performance and data flow, keeping accurate logs, assisting customers with mission planning, data delivery and providing stakeholder notifications as appropriate.
- Support new electronic device technologies, and software defined radio developments.
- Support systems engineering in satellite communications to characterize usage for new state-of-the-art small form-factor radios using best practice systems engineering principles in addition to documenting results for distribution to multiple levels of decision makers.
Required Education:
- Bachelors and nine (9) years or more experience; Masters and seven (7) years or more experience ; PhD or JD and four (4) years or more experience.
- BS in electrical engineering, computer science, aerospace engineering, or relevant technical area and 5 years as a Systems Engineer.
- 3 + years working in SATCOM.
- CONUS and OCONUS travel may be required ~15 % of time.
- Understand satellite orbital mechanics; some familiarity with two line segments.
- Ability to communicate technical issues clearly and effectively and execute assignments with little supervision and actively participate in a collaborative team environment.
- Ability to work occasional surge support.
- Ability to work shift hours as needed to support customers.
- Experience with Windows, Linux, Firefox, Chrome, and Microsoft Office products.
- Operations center experience and knowledge of enterprise system monitoring tools.

**Job Summary:**
Perform ArcGIS Pro working knowledge level tasks supporting the Air Force GeoBase system. Tasks include maintenance of system feature class data including relevant attribution affecting above- and below-ground civil utility infrastructure, buildings, structures, and pavements. This position directly supports data stewardship targeting Department of Defense Financial Improvement and Audit Readiness (FIAR) requirements.
**Duties and Responsibilities:**
+ Update and maintain building and civil utility infrastructure (including electrical, water/wastewater, and pavement systems) mapping and characteristic information. Task performance follow Entity Specification Directives (ESD) for respective feature classes.
+ Work closely with licensed land surveyor. Gather and prepare mapping information of systems and structures other than buildings and interpret land survey data for entry in GeoBase. Provide interpretation of land survey and design/construction drawings.
+ Deploy automated data tools for efficient bulk updates, specifically targeting reconciliation of real property data within the Accountable Property System of Record (APSR).
+ Provide simple and complex maps and associated data tables when necessary. Mapping tolerance levels are applicable.
+ Interpret altered infrastructure information from construction drawings, land or structure survey, and/or notes to update geographic information system data.
+ Provide recommendations for data integrity improvement.
+ Provide GIS support to Community Planner in developing the Basic Information Guide (BIG).
+ Support geographic information processing with customer civil engineering and safety organizations, with an emphasis in coordinating explosive site plan actions, Line of Sight and Quantity Distance, and Airfield Wavier information.
+ Assist area development plan tasks, linear segmentation, and facility programming efforts assigned to others.
+ Assistance will require maps and relative building and infrastructure characteristics.
+ May be asked to support hurricane preparation and recovery activities.
**Educational/Training Requirements:**
+ This position requires an associate degree in Geographic Information System, Civil Engineering Technology, or related field
+ Two years experience with geographic information systems. Continued education and training on an informal or formal basis are desired.
**Skill Requirements/Qualifications:**
+ Position requires a background in Air Force Civil Engineering and/or formal education and working knowledge of geographic information system software (ESRI) and related applications.
+ The position requires working knowledge of AutoCAD and related applications. Able to read and interpret design, construction, and as-built soft and hard copy drawings.
+ The position requires working knowledge of general graphic and administrative software such as Acrobat and MS Word and Excel.
+ State of Florida drivers' license is required.

Job Description
You can play an important part in disaster relief missions as a Geospatial Engineer for the Army National Guard. In this role, you will extract and supply geographic data that supports military operations of all kinds and help commanders visualize the battlefield during combat.
As a Geospatial Engineer, your primary responsibility will be to collect and process military geographic information from decentralized sources (remote sensed imagery, digital data, intelligence data, existing topographic products, and other collateral data sources), present this information to leaders, and return decisions to the field.
You may also:
• Supervise topographic surveying, cartography, and photolithography activities
• Assist in topographic planning and control activities
• Assist in determining requirements and providing technical supervision of geographic intelligence programs
Job Duties
• Create geographic data and compile them into maps
• Create and maintain multiple geospatial databases
• Prepare military-style briefs covering all aspects of the terrain
