**Job Description:**
+ Input, processing, and maintenance of Client Distribution Lines and Equipment assets in an ESRI GIS database.
**Qualification requirements:**
+ High School Diploma or equivalent required
+ Bachelor's degree (Geography, GIS, or similar field), GIS Certificate, or at least 2 years of full time GIS work experience is required
+ Power Distribution knowledge is a plus
+ Experience with ESRI ArcGIS software required; Experience with ESRI ArcGIS Pro software is a plus
+ Competency with standard computer software, to include Microsoft Office suite is required
+ Compatible working in a team environment is required
+ Experience with CAD (Computer Aided Drafting) is a plus
+ Flexible to work 40 hours per week, M-F, in an office environment in Birmingham, Alabama. Shifts may be 8 or 10 hours per day, starting as early as 7am and ending as late as 5pm. Flexible to work remotely (from home) as well. Remote work requires stable broadband Internet connection of 20mb/s or capable of supporting remote desktop connections over VPN and is responsibility of worker.
**Note:** Once the ~3 month training period is completed in B'ham, Alabama (depends on individual), work may become mostly remote with occasional work, meetings, training, etc., in the office.

Job Description
The GIS Technician will support the distributed generation department by contributing to renewable energy projects.
Responsibilities
+ Assist in managing and updating GIS databases, ensuring accurate geographical data input.
+ Enter and update data within GIS databases.
+ Assist in basic map creation using GIS tools.
+ Support GIS Analysts in larger projects.
+ Attend training to enhance proficiency in GIS software.

Essential Skills

Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $20.00 - $25.00/hr.

+ Assist in the development and implementation of field computer applications to facilitate the control and collection of data for mapping (GPS)(GIS)(KMZ).
+ Troubleshoot ESRI platform and third-party designers for any anomalies in the system or processes.
+ Keep documentation and GIS database up to date and accurate at all times.

This position may require significant time standing or walking on uneven ground, possible climbing of ladders or being in high places, working in tight spaces, lifting up to 50 pounds, and, in general, being overall physically demanding. It may also require work in an all-weather environment.

Apply remotely sensed data (e.g., LiDAR) to existing transmission line models and mapping workflows.Assist with data management, quality control, and spatial analysis tasks to ensure accuracy and consistency.Collaborate with engineers and analysts to integrate GIS data into design and planning efforts.RequirementsOur skills and experience wish list includes: At least 1 year of relevant experience in GIS, remote sensing, or transmission line engineering support.
