POSITION SUMMARY:
The Senior Accountant, Rhoda Goldman Plaza will work under the supervision of the Controller in the management of all financial accounting and reporting activities related to the Agencys Rhoda Goldman Plaza (RGP) division, including accounts payable processing, journal entry preparation, general ledger processing, G/L account reconciliations, bank account reconciliations, investment accounting, fixed assets schedule maintenance, and other accounting tasks including backup support for the accounts receivable and payroll functions. This position is a steward of the Agencys financial resources and is required to promote the Agencys economic viability by helping the Finance and Administration Department manage its accounting systems and the Agencys assets with integrity.
COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS:
- Salary Range: $90,000 - $110,000 (depending on experience)
- Employment Type: full-time, exempt position with benefits

ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Lead the monthly, quarterly, and year-end accounting closes for RGP, including preparing and entering journal entries, reconciling general ledger accounts, and providing timely financial reporting
- Prepare and analyze financial statements to ensure accuracy and completeness. Prepare financial and statistical data and documentation for the annual budget, as required
- Perform investment accounting, including preparation of the Summary of Investment worksheet, Investment Roll-forward schedule, monthly journal entries, and analysis of monthly investment activity
- Maintain fixed assets schedule
- Process all Accounts Payable transactions, including coding of invoices, securing invoice approvals, entering invoices into the G/L system, and processing the weekly check run in a timely manner. Reconcile vendor statements monthly, resolve invoice discrepancies, and maintain good vendor relationships
- Prepare and distribute the RGP Daily Cash Receipts report to ensure accurate tracking of bank balances
- Assist and support with preparations for workers compensation audit, 403(b) audit, year-end financial statement audit, and tax return work papers
JOB QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelors degree in Accounting, Business Administration, Finance, or related field
- Minimum of three to five years of progressive responsibility and work experience in accounting, payroll, bookkeeping, or related field
- Solid understanding of GAAP and non-profit accounting principles
- Demonstrated proficiency in computerized accounting systems, ERP systems, and computer technology. Knowledge of Sage Intacct G/L and Paylocity payroll systems preferred
- Advanced Excel spreadsheet and analytical skills
- Ability to lead process improvements, especially in transitioning financial operations to digital solutions
- Knowledge of and/or sensitivity to the provision of social services in a senior assisted-living residential community and Jewish communal context desired
