Nurse Tech Program - Puget Sound Region

The candidate will have a paid position, at the time of hire. Candidate will earn a wage while working as a Nurse Tech in our program designed to support and accelerate the skills that are learned in nursing school. MultiCare will provide career planning and opportunities to experience various work settings each term via rotations in different areas of the hospital, based upon interest and unit availability, to assist the Nurse Tech in identifying their ideal work environment. Additionally, MultiCare will supply educational opportunities to advance their career path.

Upon graduation, candidate will apply to MultiCare RN Transition to Practice Residency program to transition from student to a professional nurse.

Position Summary
The Nurse Tech is an incredible opportunity for a student enrolled in a Registered Nurse program at an accredited school and has completed at least one academic term, which included a clinical component or an individual who has completed the Registered Nurse course of study and is awaiting the results of their NCLEX exams.

Responsibilities

• You will provide direct patient care applying current health concepts and performing routine duties to the level of academic competence accomplished in the individual's educational program(s) under the supervision and direction of a Registered Nurse.
• You will contribute to the assigned unit nursing team, functioning as a member of the unit
• You will remain abreast of current trends/information in nursing and applies this knowledge/ information to practice
• You will attend required unit meetings/classes
• You will apply your knowledge, judgment, and skills as based upon the principles of biological, physiological, behavioral, and sociological sciences

Requirements

• Currently enrolled as a student in accredited school preparing persons to practice as a Registered Nurse and completed at least one academic term which included a clinical component /OR Graduate of an accredited School of Nursing
• Current Nursing Technician Registered credential
• Documentation of current clinical competencies from completed Nursing School course work

Pay and Benefit Expectations
We provide a comprehensive benefits package, including competitive salary, medical, dental and retirement benefits and paid time off. As required by various pay transparency laws, we share a competitive range of compensation for candidates hired into each position. The pay scale is $20. 0 - 20.00 USD. **Purpose:**
In addition to performing the duties and responsibilities required to function as clinical perfusionist, the Director shall provide the necessary leadership to the Department of Perfusion Services to assure safe patient-centered care in a cost-effective manner in an environment which continuously promotes quality improvement.
**Responsibilities:**
+ Attend 80% of director meetings and actively communicate with other directors.
+ Ensure compliance of all personnel with annual and new mandatory requirements within identified timeframe.
+ Demonstrate the application of clinical perfusion skills by adhering to departmental and professional standards.
+ Achieve financial objectives through the preparation, examination and justification of departmental budget; by monitoring expenditures and initiating corrective actions. Actively seek new business opportunities which grow department revenue.
+ Maintain optimal communication, close cooperation, and consultation with attending physicians.
+ Demonstrate knowledge of and proficiency with the operation and maintenance of perfusion equipment.
+ Provide perfusion support to STAT Med Evac for VAD/ECMO patients transported via fixed wing and rotary aircraft.
+ Ensure a qualified and competent perfusion staff by selecting, coaching, scheduling, motivating and assisting in the development of employees of the Department of Perfusion Services.
+ Maintain competency/proficiency with laboratory equipment and processes. Understand and implement specific regulatory requirements and QA practices
+ Encourage research and formal presentations within the department. Participate with the submission of one scientific abstract per year.
+ Maintain appropriate, timely, and accurate documentation of all procedures.
+ Support Procirca contractual obligations by contributing to the successful execution of services. The director will participate on the call schedule. Support Procirca process of staff sharing where demand is greatest.
+ Ensure patient safety and quality of care by developing, implementing, and monitoring policies and procedures; by adherence to organizational, departmental and outside regulatory requirements; and by monitoring operational and clinical outcomes.
+ Responsible for the administration of medications, blood components, and anesthetic agents via the extracorporeal circuit in consultation with or under the direction of the attending physician.
+ Maintain and strengthen clinical and managerial competency by learning new specialties, reviewing professional publications, and participating in growth oriented developmental activities.
+ Ensure operational responsibilities are met, appropriate inventory levels maintained, minimize waste, and provide monthly reports to senior management to include budget variances, revenue generation, and charge auditing.
+ Participate in a performance improvement process and report to leadership quarterly.
+ Ensure adequate staff coverage for elective and emergency procedures by preparing the daily and call schedule.
+ Serve as a role model of excellent clinical quality and customer service.
+ Maintain oversight of new staff, perfusion students, and others through education, orientation, and training. Demonstrates effective instruction and supervision of students by adhering to the clinical objectives of the UPMC School of Perfusion.
+ Ensure appropriate equipment inventory and maintenance. Assist with the transport of equipment and evaluation of new equipment or process.
+ Maintain continuing education, ABCP certification, PA license, and clinical competencies.
+ Maintain proficiency with various perfusion techniques to include hemodilution, hemofiltration, induction and reversal of hypothermia and hyperthermia, perioperative blood management, myocardial preservation, circulatory support techniques such as ECMO and VAD, liver bypass, and chemoperfusion for HIPEC, Isolated Liver Perfusion, and Isolated limb perfusion.
+ Participate on one committee with patient care as the focus
+ Bachelor of Science degree.

**General Summary**
Performs activities and duties related to the education of the patient and referral source regarding services along the rehabilitation continuum. Completes and documents thorough preadmission assessments of patients to determine and recommend the most appropriate post-acute care setting to meet the patient's needs for maximizing independence and health and to support the seamless of transition of patients along the continuum.
**Duties and Responsibilities**
**Essential Functions:**
+ Collaborates with physicians, therapists, case managers and others in the early identification of potential candidates for inpatient rehabilitation. Establishes rapport and trust with all. Communicates clearly and follows up on open issues in a timely manner.
+ Manages referral volume and completes an assessment of all patients referred within one business day.
+ Actively participates in the development and delivery of education to the patient, family members, referral sources and external payers regarding the effective and efficient utilization of program service and available resources as well as the benefit of physical rehabilitation for patients referred or potential referrals.
+ Applies clinical evaluation skills and knowledge of rehabilitation services, programs and benefits in the completion of a thorough preadmission assessment to establish medical necessity, readiness for program participation and need for inpatient level rehabilitation services. Assessment includes chart review, clinical physical assessment and interaction with the physician, nurses and therapists directly involved in the patient's care.
+ Includes an interview with family members and/or significant others in the evaluation of patients for admission to obtain accurate information relative to premorbid functional status, personal interests, cultural considerations and discharge plans affecting the rehabilitation admission.
+ Collaborates with the WellSpan Surgery and Rehabilitation Hospital medical director or assigned physician to confirm appropriateness of inpatient setting for those patients recommended for admission. Ensures that this approval is always obtained prior to patient admission to the WSRH.
+ Recommends other care options, as indicated, in the event patients are not recommended for admission to the WSRH for inpatient rehabilitation.
+ Serves as a rehabilitation consultant to inpatient acute care providers with attention to rehabilitation potential, therapy progress, discharge plan and feasibility, and special equipment needs to facilitate a seamless transition and hand off of care from one level to the other. Provides regular feedback to acute care providers relative to patient progress and outcomes.
+ Maintains a thorough and current knowledge of the WellSpan Rehabilitation facilities, products, service and regulatory requirements.
+ Participates in the insurance authorization process as needed. Provides clinical information and works to establish the most cost-effective plans for rehabilitation that will meet the patient's need. Supports physician to physician negotiation when called for. Assertively advocates for the patient.

Position Purpose:

Registered Nurse - MedSurg Department RN works in a collaborative environment at St Mary's Health Care System to deliver excellent patient care as part of an interdisciplinary team providing evidence-based medicine and individualized patient care. A Registered Nurse RN is expected to facilitate all aspects of the patient visit experience. * Medical Surgical Unit with Good Samaritan Hospital in Greensboro is a 25 bed unit that cares for post operative surgical and general medical patients .
* Under limited supervision, the Registered Nurse is responsible for assessing patients, including developing, evaluating, and modifying the care plan. The RN interprets and performs complex patient-care procedures specific to their expertise.
* RNs are members of the Care Team and Support Team and have accountability to function as a team to accomplish patient outcomes identified in the pathway/plan of care.
* The Registered Nurse is a professional caregiver who assumes responsibility and accountability for the care given to a group of patients for a designated time frame.
* The RN provides care to those patients via therapeutic use of self, the nursing process, the environment/technology, and other healthcare team members, according to established standards.

Minimum Qualifications:

* A current license to practice as a Registered Nurse in the State of Georgia.
* Graduation from an accredited nursing education program approved by the Board of Nursing or found by the Board to be substantially equivalent to the programs in Georgia.
* Successful completion of a refresher course within the past 6 months if nursing practice has not occurred within the past 5 years.
* Prior experience in preferred. New Graduates considered.
