Overview: Insight Global is seeking a Data Governance Lead to support one of our largest Energy/Utility clients within their Data Analytics organization. This organization is in the early stages of prioritizing data quality and governance, and they are looking for a strong data governance Lead to help with these initiatives. Having built out their framework last year, they now need to establish a foundation using Atlan for data discovery, cataloging, and governance. This will eventually be rolled out to end users. As the governance environment matures, the organization plans to implement AI initiatives that can only be started once the governance is completed. Lastly, you are working side by side data analytics teams that are supporting individual lines of business, however, the group you are working in will support all company data.

Day-to-Day Responsibilities:
Reporting to the Manager of Corporate Analytics and Data Management.
Collaborating with a team of data engineers, data quality analysts, and other data governance analysts.
Conducting data discovery and cataloging using Atlan.
Ensuring data quality and integrity across various data sources.
Developing and maintaining data governance policies and procedures.
Creating and managing data documentation and metadata.
Implementing data governance frameworks and best practices.
Monitoring compliance with data governance policies.
Assisting in the rollout of data governance tools and processes to end users.

The US national base salary range for this position is from

$84,700.00 - $157,300.00

The national range provided includes the base salary that GBT expects to pay for the role. Actual base salary will be based on factors including the scope and complexity of the role and the successful candidates relevant experience, skills, knowledge, and work location.

In addition to base salary, the anticipated range of which is posted above, this role is eligible for a discretionary annual bonus which rewards participants based on individual and/or company performance.

We are seeking a seasoned enterprise level Data Governance Leader to define and execute our enterprise-wide data governance strategy, ensuring data is accurate, secure, and responsibly used to support our transformation and data-driven goals.
This position requires an experienced leader who can bridge strategy and execution-embedding data management into business processes and driving measurable improvements in data quality and accessibility. You'll lead a federated governance operating model in close collaboration with divisional and functional governance leaders to foster alignment and accountability across the organization.
**Key Responsibilities:**
+ Develop, execute and maintain enterprise data governance vision, strategy, roadmap, policies, and standards in alignment with corporate priorities.
+ Ensure alignment with internal audit, privacy, compliance, and risk management to support regulatory obligations (e.g., SOX, GDPR).
+ Lead the enterprise data management operating model and facilitate cross-functional governance councils. Serve as the enterprise governance point of contact for divisional and functional data governance leaders.
+ Champion data literacy, data ownership and stewardship through training and communication programs across all business units and functions.
+ Act as a visible leader in creating a data-driven culture and promoting accountability at all levels while driving change.
+ Regularly report on data governance metrics and establish KPIs to measure effectiveness.
**Required Skills:**
+ Bachelor's degree in computer science, engineering, information management, or related field.
+ 10+ years of experience in data governance, data management, or related areas.
+ Demonstrated success implementing data governance programs at scale within complex or regulated environments.

Summary

The Business Analyst (Governance Lead) will serve as the primary advisor and lead for information and data governance activities supporting a DISA program. This role is responsible for developing, implementing, and maintaining governance frameworks, policies, and procedures that ensure compliance with DoD directives, security standards, and enterprise data management best practices. The Governance Lead will engage with senior leadership, stakeholders, and cross-functional teams to align governance strategies with organizational goals, mitigate risk, and enhance the protection and effective use of information assets.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the design, implementation, and oversight of information and data governance frameworks for the DISA program, ensuring compliance with DoD, federal, and enterprise standards.
  • Develop and maintain IT governance policies, procedures, and controls that align with security and data protection requirements.
  • Provide subject matter expertise on governance, compliance, and enterprise information management to program leadership and technical teams.
  • Conduct requirements gathering sessions with stakeholders to identify governance needs, document business processes, and ensure proper alignment with system development lifecycle (SDLC) standards.
  • Collaborate with cybersecurity, data management, and IT operations teams to integrate governance practices into daily operations.
  • Drive the adoption of governance tools, practices, and controls, monitoring compliance and producing reports for senior leadership.
  • Lead risk assessments, business audits, and compliance reviews to identify gaps and implement corrective measures.
  • Serve as a key liaison between DISA program leadership, DoD stakeholders, and governance bodies, ensuring effective communication of policies, strategies, and progress.
  • Support Agile program management practices by aligning governance tasks and deliverables with iterative development cycles.
  • Mentor and guide junior analysts or team members involved in governance-related activities.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's Degree in Information Technology Management, Computer Science, Information Security, or related field.
  • Minimum of five (5) years' experience working within an information governance or data governance function, preferably in a DoD or multilateral environment.
  • Minimum of five (5) years' experience leading data governance and/or security governance programs.
  • Security IAM Level I certification.
  • Active Top Secret/SCI clearance.
Preferred Qualifications:
