**Essential Functions**
+ Monitors, tracks, and analyzes federal, state, and local legislation, regulations, and policy trends affecting healthcare operations and strategy.
+ Conducts research and prepares policy briefs, reports, talking points, and presentations for leadership and internal stakeholders.
+ Develops advocacy materials and supports engagement initiatives, including legislative summaries, briefings, and stakeholder communications.
+ Cultivates and maintains effective working relationships with legislators, government officials, industry associations, and advocacy groups.

**Qualifications**

**The Opportunity**
This position works out of our Washington, DC location in the Government Affairs function.
As the Government Affairs Director for Corporate Reimbursement, you will develop, lead and execute the strategy, capabilities and action plans to support and drive healthcare policies that impact Abbott. More specifically, you will support Medicare reimbursement activity for Abbott Diabetes Care (ADC) and other divisions. This includes Medicare reimbursement (coding, coverage and payment) for all ADC products. You will also lead development and advocacy of Abbott's priorities for these divisions in broad Medicare and health care policy.
**What You'll Work On**
- Ally with business functional teams to help develop and execute portfolio reimbursement plans, and coordinate with Abbott GA team to deliver effective advocacy.
- Work on development and execution of reimbursement and coverage strategies and health economic and value messaging based on robust understanding of providers, business/practice managers, and payers.
- Work with ADC to conceive and direct analysis of health care clinical, health economic and outcomes data to support market access, health policy and publication strategy initiatives.
- Lead reimbursement initiatives to protect and advance Abbott's interests and its business units before policymakers, politicians, trade and business associations and other allies.
- Build the reputation of Abbott as a preferred, trusted partner, who drive for constructive solutions.
- Stay apprised of business goals and strategies in order to assess impact to Abbott from federal, executive and regulatory activities. Consult with appropriate business and corporate personnel in making such determinations, providing recommendations for formulation of action plans.
- Identify health care, economic and other policy developments that could impact Abbott's business and operation. Proactively identify opportunities for Abbott to pursue favorable government policies and effectively defend Abbott against government policies that could harm shareholder interests.

o Pharmacy payments/processes
o Medicare quality systems,
o the Center for Medicare Innovation,
