About One Subsurface Programme

One Subsurface is our early careers programme designed to create a pipeline of subsurface professionals. Early careers will follow a structured development offer to accelerate the acquisition of foundational technical skills, experience and knowledge; and application in the business world. The programme supports transition from university to discipline professional and provides a framework of 'non-technical' skills to support building personal effectiveness skills. Early careers will build their experience through challenging development assignments, grow a toolkit of transferable skills for the future, and have a dedicated network of support to help them succeed.

This is a three-year program with two 18-month rotations, including field experience .

About the role

The Geospatial Technology Graduate will interface closely with other Geospatial SMEs, Technology, and business stakeholders to develop and deploy Geospatial technology, data & analytical solutions to meet business challenges to global stakeholders across a wide range of domains including Production, Projects, Subsurface & Wells, Crisis, Supply Trading & Shipping, and Refining. They will join a unit as part of the wider Geospatial team within Oil and Gas Technology gaining exposure to cutting-edge technologies and their real-world applications

Key technical capabilities and expectations:
  • Geospatial Technology: Some experience working with the ArcGIS Desktop and Enterprise suite of tools (ArcGIS Pro, Server, Portal and associated API's).
  • Geospatial Data Management: Experience on the use of spatial databases, spatial access methods, coordinate reference systems, representation of spatial objects, raster processing, query processing, spatial data infrastructures, data manipulation, data security.
  • Geospatial Analysis: Experience with query operations and languages, earth geometry and geodesy, analytical operations, analysis of surfaces, spatial statistics, geo-statistics, spatial regression, data mining, network analysis, optimization, and location allocation modeling. Exposure to one or more data-related technologies/languages (e.g. SQL, Arcade, Python, R, Java Script, etc.).
  • Spatial Data Visualization: Knowledge of the principles of map design, cartography and graphic representation techniques, map production, development of web-based maps, applications, and dashboards.
  • Remote Sensing: some knowledge on concepts of remotely sensed earth observation data, associated data formats and properties, and imagery based geographic analysis.

Minimum Requirements
  • Pursuing a Master's or PhD degree in Geospatial, Geography, Geoscience, Applied Geography, Geographic Information Science, Survey, Environmental Science, Computer Science or closely related discipline.
  • Graduating between December 2025 and May 2026
  • Current Cumulative GPA Minimum 3.0

Secondary Level Salary Range: 110,300.00 - 165,500.00
The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.
Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results.   • Provide logistics support as an integral part of on-site technical assistance.
  • Complete Technical Assistance Visit Reports (TAVR), in accordance with the current version of the COMUSFLTFORCOMINST 4790.3 Joint Fleet Maintenance (JFMM), for ship's force, SERMC Code 200 Engineering Department managers, and SERMC Code 300 Maintenance Team.
  • Research Departures from Specifications (DFS), Design Service Requests (DSR), Liaison Action Requests (LAR), and Work Specification Reviews(WSR).
  • Utilize Government software systems to track problems associated with systems/equipment, and for system analysis, to include Tech Assist, Assessments & Scheduling Information (TAAS-Info) and Maintenance Figure of Merit (MFOM) systems.

Perform assessment and maintenance of shipboard systems and equipment and training in maintenance and overhaul processes.

Perform the following operational assessment tasks during Total Ships Readiness Assessments, Ballistic Missile Defense Readiness Assessments (BMDRAs), INSURVs/ Mid Cycle Inspections (MCIs), Combat Systems Assessments (CSAs), and Pre-Deployment assessments, or similar test and inspection programs as necessary:

  • Assessment Program tasks include: the full spectrum of services required to perform system equipment assessment and inspections on all ship classes including: scheduling and coordination; test procedure development and maintenance; ordering, tracking, receipt, and delivery of parts and materials; data entry into maintenance and supply information systems; discrepancy tracking, maintenance, and reporting; analysis; reports; technical and logistics research; and discrepancy resolution.
  • Fleet Maintenance Program tasks include: investigation of hardware and installation design and safety deficiencies; development of proposed engineering solutions to improve operational reliability, maintainability, and availability; engineering audits of prototype and production modifications and installations; and preparation of engineering and technical reports.
  • Engineering, technical, and repair tasks include: development and maintenance of test, certification, and operation procedures; development of repair procedures, specifications and engineering change proposals; and adjudication of DFS and DSR requests. Responsibilities

    Provide technical support for the evaluation and correction of fleet system/equipment casualties and provide technical assistance on mechanical/ electrical/electronic Combat Systems casualty repairs IAW the Joint Fleet Maintenance Manual (JFMM) and fleet requirements

    • (c) Provide logistics support as an integral part of on-site technical assistance
    • (d) Complete Technical Assistance Visit Reports (TAVR), in accordance with the current version of the COMUSFLTFORCOMINST 4790.3 Joint Fleet Maintenance (JFMM), for ship's force, SERMC Code 200 Engineering Department managers, and SERMC Code 300 Maintenance Team
    • (e) Research Departures from Specifications (DFS), Design Service Requests (DSR), Liaison Action Requests (LAR), and Work Specification Reviews(WSR)
    • ( f) Utilize Government software systems to track problems associated with systems/equipment, and for system analysis, to include Tech Assist, Assessments &Scheduling Information (TAAS-Info) and Maintenance Figure of Merit (MFOM) systems
  • Perform assessment and maintenance of shipboard systems and equipment and training in maintenance and overhaul processes
  • Perform the following operational assessment tasks during Total Ships Readiness Assessments, Ballistic Missile Defense Readiness Assessments (BMDRAs), INSURVs/ Mid Cycle Inspections (MCIs), Combat Systems Assessments (CSAs), and Pre-Deployment assessments, or similar test and inspection programs as necessary:
    • (a) Assessment Program tasks include: the full spectrum of services required to perform system equipment assessment and inspections on all ship classes including: scheduling and coordination; test procedure development and maintenance; ordering, tracking, receipt, and delivery of parts and materials; data entry into maintenance and supply information systems; discrepancy tracking, maintenance, and reporting; analysis; reports; technical and logistics research; and discrepancy resolution
    • (b) Fleet Maintenance Program tasks include: investigation of hardware and installation design and safety deficiencies; development of proposed engineering solutions to improve operational reliability, maintainability, and availability; engineering audits of prototype and production modifications and installations; and preparation of engineering and technical reports
    • (c) Engineering, technical, and repair tasks include: development and maintenance of test, certification, and operation procedures; development of repair procedures, specifications and engineering change proposals; and adjudication of DFS and DSR requests. Qualifications You Must Have:

  • Typically requires a Bachelor’s degree in Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics (STEM) AND a minimum of 5 years of engineering experience with electrical hardware development, sub-systems, systems engineering, requirement development and/or requirement validation.
  • An advanced degree in a related field may be substituted for additional years of experience as follows: Master’s is equal to 2 years of experience or a Ph.D. is equal to 4 years of experience.
  • Experience in developing RF electrical subsystems.
  • Active and transferable US Government issued security clearance prior to the start date. U.S. citizenship is required as only U.S. citizens are eligible for a security clearance.

Qualifications We Value:

  • Missile Radar and RF seeker subsystems typically contain antennas, analog RF circuit cards, digital circuit cards, and configurable logic so the ideal candidate will have a background in detailed design and troubleshooting of one or more of these components. Ideal candidates will also have some experience in systems engineering and architecture and have a desire to grow into a guidance section architect.
  • Ideal candidates shall also have demonstrated understanding and wide application of technical theories and concepts in the area of navigation subsystems/components used in modern guidance electronics platforms.
  • Recent technical experience relative to integrated Guidance Electronics systems using GPS and IMU navigation subsystems blended via Kalman filter techniques.
  • Knowledge and/or experience with M-Code.
  • Familiarity with Matlab scripting and tools.
  • Experience with hardware integration, Hardware in the Loop (HIL), modeling and simulation and environmental testing and electronics test equipment.
  • Experience working with missiles or similar systems.
  • Ability to lead cross-functional teams.
  • Ability to drive suppliers in meeting commitments.
  • Knowledge of DOD Hardware development process (knowledge of design gates).
  • Practical experience in all phases of the product development lifecycle.
  • Experience in developing proposals.
  • Knowledge and/or experience with Model Based System Engineering (MBSE)

The salary range for this role is 82,000 USD - 164,000 USD. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels.
