Shift/Hours: Our RNs work a rotating 12-hour schedule to ensure 24/7 coverage on the floor.

GNs must be eligible for State Board Licensure and successfully pass the examination before beginning this role -OR- must have a Temporary Practice Permit and commit to taking the NCLEX examination with 6 months of hire. Applicants will be placed in the appropriate job title and salary from the My Nursing Career Ladder based on their individual experience and education.

* BSN Preferred
* Completion of UPMC Student Nurse Internship Program or student clinical transitions course at UPMC preferred.
* The individual must be able to demonstrate the knowledge and skills necessary to provide care and/or interact appropriately with the ages of the patients served by his/her assigned unit as specified below.
* They must also demonstrate knowledge of the principles of growth and development over the life span and possess the ability to assess data reflective of the patient's status and interpret the appropriate information needed to identify each patient's requirements relative to his/her age-specific needs and to provide the care needs as described in the department policy and procedures.
* Ability to establish and maintain positive, caring relationships with executives, managers, physicians, non-physician providers, ancillary and support staff, other departments, and patients/families.
* Ability to work productively and effectively within a complex environment and handle multiple/changing priorities and specialized equipment.
* Critical thinking, analytical, and problem-solving abilities required as related to various aspects of patient care.
* Good clinical judgment.
* Critical thinking skills necessary to exercise and to lead others in application of the nursing process.

Licensure, Certifications, and Clearances:

* Current Pennsylvania licensure as a Registered Professional Nurse required prior to program start date OR must have a Temporary Practice Permit and commit to taking the NCLEX examination with (X) months of hire.

Service Lines Hiring:

* The Cardiothoracic Service Line encompasses five units focused on the care of cardiac, pulmonary, and vascular patients. We specialize in LVADs, cystic fibrosis, heart, lung and bone marrow transplant on units 3E, 4D/5D, 7D, 9D, 10D/10G. Nursing and patient care services have the opportunity to provide innovative therapies and cutting-edge treatments with a focus on patient-family centered relationship.


* The Medicine Service Line at UPMC Presbyterian is a significant service supporting our academic teaching program mission. Units 12S, 12N, 11S, 10E/W, 10S, 8N, 7G span across both the Presbyterian and Montefiore buildings, with over 150 beds. These units care for chronic and acute medical conditions including but not limited to pulmonary, cardiovascular, neurological, and infectious diseases.


* The Trauma Neuro Service Line at UPMC Presbyterian is a dynamic service supporting the hospital's Comprehensive Stroke Certification as well as the Level 1 Trauma designation. The units in this service line include: 5G, 6D, 7F, 8D, 8G, 9G, and 12D. These units care for any patient with an acute injury of the brain or spinal cord as well as provide the post operative care for the neurosurgical patient population.


* The Transplant & Inpatient Surgery Service Line consists of several departments all with a unique surgically based focus. Each unit is staffed by nurses who are specialists in their respective fields and provide compassionate care and clinical excellence: 5E/W, 8W, 9N, 10N, 11N, 11E/W.
