The Physical Chemistry and Applied Spectroscopy group (C-PCS) is seeking a strong candidate who is interested in the physical chemistry and/or spectroscopy of a variety of materials relevant to national security. The selected candidate must be enrolled in a Ph.D. program in a university of good standing. The candidate will work with scientists in C-PCS on a variety of projects. The candidate is expected to perform hands-on laboratory work involving one or more of the following: chemical synthesis, laser spectroscopy, high magnetic fields, energetic materials, and/or radiological materials. The candidate will also have the opportunity to collaborate with colleagues across the laboratory. **What You Need**
**Minimum Job Requirements:**
+ Knowledge of basic principles one or more of the following: chemical synthesis, laser spectroscopy, high magnetic fields, energetic materials, and/or radiological materials.
+ Experience in safe laboratory procedures.
+ Laboratory experience demonstrating an attention to detail and commitment to safe work practices.
Education/Experience: Currently enrolled in a PhD program in the physical sciences (chemistry, physics, optical science, etc.) other related field. Must be enrolled in 6 semester credit hours (or full-time equivalent). Must currently have and maintain a cumulative GPA of at least 3.2 on a 4.0 scale (or equivalent).
Desired Qualifications: Students selected for GRA internship in Chemistry Sciences are most competitive when they possess the following knowledge and skills:

The Engineered Materials Group (MST-7) provides multidisciplinary expertise in materials science ranging from polymers and foams to target fabrication and materials discovery. This expertise is focused on delivering technology solutions for national security missions. The group has great breadth and depth in many aspects of polymer science and engineering, such as a strong coatings capability, including physical and chemical vapor deposition, a suite of polymer additive manufacturing instrumentation, and extensive characterization and forensics capabilities. In particular, MST-7 applies an extensive knowledge of chemistry, physics, materials science, chemical engineering, and mechanical engineering to study matter under various environmental and extreme conditions relevant to our customers. MST-7 is involved in many research programs, such as inertial confinement fusion, nuclear weapons programs, including core and enhanced surveillance, directed stockpile and lifetime extension programs, global security, homeland defense, and civilian applications of materials technologies. Complete a minimum of 6 credit hours (or equivalent) of course work the quarter before hire and enroll in and complete at least 6 credit hours per quarter while working as a graduate intern.

Specifically, this position provides specialized support to Master's students in the College of Science, offering them guidance on their academic progress and advising on relevant policies, procedures, and other relevant topics as needed.
The Graduate Student Academic Advisor will be well-versed in university, college, and department policies and procedures as they relate to graduate students. This position is a critical part of supporting the graduate student population of the College, and serves as a de facto mentor and leader within the graduate administration team.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Student Advising:
- Provide overall guidance to professional science graduate students on their academic progress towards goals.
- Interpret and explain relevant academic policies to students. Monitor student progress towards graduation and work with department/program to proactively address issues. Advise students, approve, and track leave of absences and withdrawal requests.
- Advise students on other academic issues as needed; connect them with appropriate resources in instances of personal issues or grievances.
- Assist students with all aspects of course registration, including course overrides, cross-program and cross-college course registration, and late registrations. Explain course registration requirements to students as needed.
- Serve as academic Student and Exchange Visitor Information System (SEVIS) contact for the Office of Global Services (OGS) as pertains to College of Science students and visitors.
- Manage the administrative processing of issuing and writing enrollment, international, and commencement verification letters.
- Collaborating with Director and other staff, design and deliver programs to better support incoming and current students in their coursework, including but not limited to workshops, newsletters, webinars, and other regular events that add value to the graduate student experience.
- Participate in and contribute to the content and delivery of new student orientation.
- Coordinate with appropriate faculty and staff at network campuses to better support the unique needs of online and regional campus students and implement policies and procedures accordingly.
- Stay abreast of research and effective practices in academic and student affairs to propose ideas to better serve students.
- Maintain up-to-date notes and record keeping of each student meeting, email, and phone conversation as pertaining to academic progress. Communicate as needed with appropriate department and/or faculty.
- Document and disseminate curriculum exceptions.
- Manage graduation clearance for students.
- Assist with the data updates and related data maintenance in College and University systems of record, such as degree audit and Student SharePoint site.
- Create and update advising processes and policies.
- Provide student enrollment data upon request.
- Provide special support as directed for new program setup, special events, or other duties related to the general scope of this position.
QUALIFICATIONS
Master's degree in higher education or sciences, including math, required. Two years or more of experience working in a higher education, nonprofit, or related professional environment required.
Strong organizational, case-management skills required. Excellent oral and written communication skills. Ability to communicate and interact effectively with individuals of diverse cultural backgrounds. Ability to work independently and collaboratively. Ability to work with enterprise-level databases and proactively manage tasks across a variety of systems required.

This is a 32-hour per week salaried position, available to employees who are currently enrolled in a graduate training program in Applied Behavior Analysis. Applicants must be available for work :
- Three days per week from 9am - 6pm
- Two days per week for four hours total hours.
- Unless the employee has a class scheduled, they must be available between 9am - 6pm. However, the employee will only be scheduled for a four-hour period.
- If the employee has a class scheduled on that day the employee still must be available between 9am - 2:30pm for any four consecutive hours period requested.

Provide direct instructional services to clients, implementing and executing the recommendations, interventions, teaching procedures, etc. as derived and determined by each of the client's assessment under the direct supervision of the BCBA.

- Provide the most appropriate and developmentally individualized learning environment for each client of the clinic.
- Interact with parents, guardians and other professionals as needed regarding individual treatment plans and progress meeting information.
- Protect and ensure the health and safety of every child.
- Address any problem that may be occurring.
- Assist clients with health and hygiene practices.
- Participate in the development of reports, individual treatment plans and behavior reduction plans in coordination with BCBA.
