Boeing Defense, Space & Security (BDS), Maritime and Intelligence Systems (M&IS), seeks a System Administrator (Shift Work) to join our Mission Operations team in Herndon, VA. Our team focuses on delivering complex solutions in some of the most challenging environments on Earth. We provide support for our Mission Operations Portfolio areas which design, build, test, deploy, operate, and maintain a wide variety of mission critical platforms and systems for commercial and government customers.

Position Responsibilities :

  • Monitor system performance, troubleshoot issues, and perform regular maintenance tasks such as applying updates, patches, and security fixes.
  • Assist network engineers with configuring and managing network services, such as DNS , DHCP , and Active Directory to facilitate communication and resource sharing within the network.
  • Assist with implementing and managing backup strategies to ensure data protection and disaster recovery capabilities in case of system failures or data loss.
  • Assist with implementing and maintaining security measures, including firewalls, endpoint protection, and access controls, to protect the system from unauthorized access, malware, and other security threats.
  • Analyze system performance, identify bottlenecks, and implement optimizations to improve overall system efficiency and responsiveness.
  • Maintain accurate documentation of system configurations, procedures, and troubleshooting steps, as well as generate reports on system performance, security, and compliance.
  • Participate in planning and implementation of new systems, upgrades, and migrations, ensuring compatibility and adherence to best practices.
  • Maintain expertise in latest technologies, industry trends, and security practices through continuing training, certifications, review of trade publications.
  • Perform infrastructure administration and automation, information security support and configurations, software and OS installation and updates, and follow configuration and change control processes.
  • Create new solutions to hard technical problems and provide system support using best practices with modern and innovative tooling.
  • Support design, validation and configuration management of computing systems, and monitor system performance to support capacity planning, backup, and disaster recovery planning.

This position requires an active TS/SCI U.S. Security Clearance with current Full Scope Polygraph (FSP ), for which the U.S. Government requires U.S. Citizenship. (A U.S. Security Clearance that has been active in the past 24 months is considered active.)

Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience) :

  • 5+ years of related work experience for level 4.
  • 10+ years of related work experience for level 5.

Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience) :

  • Expertise in on-premises virtualization (AHV , VMWare ESXi , Hyper-V , .) or cloud expertise (AWS or Azure ).
  • Experience with VDI (Virtual Desktop Infrastructure), monitoring infrastructure, and securing infrastructure.

Job Description

ManTech seeks an experienced and passionate, career and customer-oriented System Engineer to join our team located in the Fort Meade, MD area.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Demonstrated experience creating and managing virtual environments
  • Systems administration of hardware and software in support of maintenance, developing and testing of information technology systems 
  • Leverage IT automation to perform daily tasked associated with data repositories on air-gapped networks.
  • Experience configuring and maintaining storage and file systems
  • Experience in developing and delivering briefings, technical presentations, and program documentation to senior program management 

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in system engineering, Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering Science, Engineering Management, or related discipline from an accredited college or university.
  • 14+ years of systems engineering experience; an Associates degree and 5 additional years of systems engineering experience might be substituted.
  • Experience with Nuntanix Hyperconverged Infrastructure (HCI)
  • Experience with DevOps tools such as nxLog, Graphana, Docker, Kubernetes, GIT, SaltStack (SALT)
  • Experience with NiFi to forward collected log events to repository for analysis.
  • Ability to launch and configure VMWare instances

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Use SALT to deploy config files to end nodes and do various interrogations (Ping, DNS)
  • Experience with installing PKI certs
  • Create/Maintain bash scripts to dump and load databases
  • Use SALT to deploy config files to end node and do various interrogations (ping, DNS)

Clearance Requirement: 

  • Must have a current/active TS/SCI with Poly 

Physical Requirements:

  • Must be able to remain in a stationary position at least 50% of the time.
