Scope of Work:

The Laborer Grounds Maintenance performs various labor tasks to maintain grounds of industrial and commercial property at Fort Buchanan.

Responsibilities:

  • Cut grass or weeds with a riding or hand mower.
  • Trim hedges and edges around walks, flowerbeds, and wells using hedge trimmers, weed eaters, clippers and edging tools.
  • Tie down equipment and cargo loads on stake bed trucks and flatbed trailers.
  • Operate hand sweepers for sweeping, roads, and parking areas etc.
  • Hand weed-pulling, raking, shoveling, and mulching landscapes.
  • May drive ATV’s, Kubota’s and other small equipment or Tractors.
  • Use hand and arm signals to direct other operators.
  • Utilize weed eater to cut grass or weeds in ditches, ammunition mounds, and berms with high inclines.
  • Frequently lift and carry lawn equipment such as weed eater and edger for long periods of time.
  • Rake, bag, and remove leaves and other natural debris.
  • Adhere to company policies, procedures, and safety regulations.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Requirements:

  • Experience and/or training providing the necessary knowledge, skills, and ability to perform the tasks of the position. Some specialized experience preferred and/or formal vocational/technical training.
  • Experience in operating small trucks and grounds equipment.
  • Must be able to maintain ability to access government worksite.
  • Reliable transportation to the worksite required.
  • Ability to follow basic operating instructions.
  • Must be able to work alternate shift schedules when necessary to meet the mission requirements of the customer, to include weekends and holidays.
  • Must maintain licenses and/or credentials required for this position.

POSITION SUMMARY:

The Grounds Maintenance Laborer will be responsible for the cultivation and care of all landscaping and grounds maintenance requirements of the contract they are assigned to and shall act as the official point of contact to the PM.

PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Maintain grounds of industrial, commercial or public property such as buildings, camp and picnic grounds, parks, playgrounds, greenhouses and athletic fields.

• Repair structures and equipment, performing one or more of the following tasks: cut grass, using walking-type or riding mowers (less than 2000 lbs.), trim hedges, and edges around curbs and walkways, maintain flowerbeds using hedge trimmers, clippers, and edging tools.

• Shall perform snow removal and ice control on walk areas around all Government furnished buildings, sidewalks, steps, and on walkways between buildings and parking areas to assure personnel and equipment safety and to perform work requirements.

• Plant grass, flowers, and shrubs, water lawn and shrubs during dry periods, using hose or activating sprinkler system, pick up and burn or cart away leaves, paper or other litter, repair and paint fences, gates, benches, tables, guardrails, and outbuildings.

• Assist fertilize or herbicide lawn, shrubs, and trees using ground spreader or sprayers.

Job Description

The CGM Production Manager is a hands-on position managing field supervisors and crew members who perform
landscape installation services on commercial jobsites. The Production Manager will perform certain planning,
administrative and regulatory functions as directed by the Vice President of Operations. The Production Manager
will promote teamwork throughout the company, enforce company policy and procedures, and support the Vice
President of Operations in all aspects of installation production.
Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

Production
• Participate in pre-job reviews with field supervisors, estimators, and sales staff.
• Monitor and track job cost, hours, and materials.
• Notify Estimator, Salesperson, and Vice President of Operations of any foreseeable project overruns.
• Participate in post-job reviews to analyze job performance.
• Ensure crews are equipped and informed to provide the safest, highest quality work in a productive and
efficient manner.
• Supervise and train installation field supervisors and crew members on all aspects of installation services
including independent job planning and implementation.
• Support crews in all aspects of landscape installation.
• Perform and/or participate in crew and department general and safety meetings.
• Maintain schedule, monitor workloads, and review regularly with Branch Manager.
• Review BOSS LM timesheets and other paperwork as required by the company.
• Safe driving of company-owned vehicles, equipment, and transporting of crew members
• Review equipment needs / maintenance schedules with field supervisor and Mechanic.
• Monitor jobs in progress to assure quality installations as well as safety procedures and company policies
are being followed.
• Safely operates and trains others on all equipment required to perform contracted work.
• Ability to properly read and execute a landscape plan and follow specifications.
Customer Service
• Support Field Supervisor and Project Managers as main field contact person for clients.
• Maintain excellent on-site relations and communications with clients, contractors and/or subcontractors.

Personnel
• Work closely with HR Manager and Vice President of Operations to promote and enforce all Company
Policies and Procedures
• Interviewing, hiring, orienting, and training of new hires.
• Document absences, tardiness and other disciplinary actions.
• Conduct Performance Reviews on Crew Leaders/Crew Members
• Enforce company policies.

Administrative
• Ensure correct billing information is coming in from the field.
• Help administer and execute change orders for additional scope outside of contract including
Subcontractor scope.
• Ability to read and understand contract documentation, bill of materials, and estimates.
• Review job budgets with all crews as a guide for production.
• Monitor work order tracking.
• Monitor equipment inventory and tracking of equipment.
• Train Field Supervisors on all aspects of administrative paperwork
• Keep informed of new practices in green industry.
• Keep informed of new or potential sales.
• Maintain appropriate communication channels for the situation.
• Follow proper procedure to turn jobs over to maintenance personnel.

Hourly Rate: $31.45 an hour + .25 shift differential
+ Perform PM's on building support systems including but not limited to, fire protection systems, compressed air systems, hot water systems, air and water distribution systems, generators, truck dock and door systems, roof membrane and roof drain systems.
+ Place fire protection system on test mode to facilitate system repairs, apply postings as needed.
+ Support contractor work, ensuring proper safety and GMP procedures are followed.
+ Assist in scheduling maintenance and inspections for support systems at correct intervals to maintain compliance.
+ Perform repairs on the water distribution piping using ProPress equipment and fittings.
+ Assist in wastewater operations as needed.
+ Assist the NH3 department as needed.
+ Support the sanitation department, ensure water mixing stations and hose assemblies are working properly throughout the facility.
+ Perform facility surface lighting audits.
+ Record and supply readings of deduct water meters to MSD.
+ Audit the condition of the grounds and parking areas, schedule maintenance with outside contractors for repairs of the sprinkler systems, asphalt surfaces, etc.
+ Perform PM's and inspections of the stormwater drainage systems.
+ Perform office maintenance such as lock repairs, drywall and painting repairs, furniture assembly and relocation, installation of towel and paper dispensers, bathroom repairs, etc.
+ Complete necessary permits for ongoing repair work around the facility including, ladder, hot work, SPA's, etc.
+ Navigate ISN to register contractors for facility work.
+ Complete other duties as assigned.
