The Paramedic is responsible for delivering and directing both Basic and Advanced Life Support (BLS and ALS) care in the pre-hospital setting, in collaboration with EMS team members and under the guidance of a licensed Medical Control Physician (MCP) and EMS Supervisor. This role involves responding to patients of all ages and backgrounds in any weather conditions, using appropriate techniques and equipment to assess, treat, lift, and safely transport patients to a suitable medical facility. The Paramedic also ensures accurate completion of all required documentation and carries out additional duties to support the effectiveness of EMS operations while representing University Hospital and EMS in a professional and respectful manner.
ResponsibilitiesWhat You'll Do

- Works in coordination with EMS team members under the direction of a licensed Medical Control Physician (MCP) and EMS Supervisor
- Responds to emergencies involving patients of all ages and backgrounds, in all weather and environmental conditions
- Uses appropriate equipment and techniques to assess, treat, lift, and safely transport patients
- Transports patients to appropriate medical facilities based on condition and care needs
- Accurately completes all required reports and documentation
- Performs additional duties as assigned to support efficient EMS operations
- Represents University Hospital and EMS with professionalism, integrity, and compassion
What You'll Bring
Experience & Preferences:
- Minimum of two (2) years of EMS experience
- Minimum of two (2) years of EMS driving experience with a clean driving record
- CEVO (Certified Emergency Vehicle Operator) training course preferred
- Valid PHTLS (Pre-Hospital Trauma Life Support) or BTLS (Basic Trauma Life Support) provider card preferred
- Bilingual English/Spanish skills preferred
- Previous experience with electronic medical records preferred
Medical & Safety Requirements:
- Must pass a medical evaluation and respirator fit test
- Must be able to wear an N95 particulate filter respirator mask per PEOSHA standards
Credential Requirements:
- Active, valid certification as one of the following:
- NJ Mobile Intensive Care Paramedic
- NJ Mobile Intensive Care Nurse (MICN)
- MICN applicants must obtain certification before completing the probationary period (per N.J.A.C. 8:41-9.9)
- Paramedics seeking NJ reciprocity:
- May receive conditional employment upon passing background check and physical exam
- Must obtain provisional EMT-Paramedic certification from NJDOH before starting work
- Must obtain full NJ Paramedic certification per N.J.A.C. 8:41A-4.2 to remain employed
Licenses & Certifications:
- Valid driver's license with NJ driving privileges (must meet DOT/MVC vehicle requirements)
- American Heart Association (AHA) BLS for Healthcare Provider
- AHA Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) Provider
- AHA Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) Provider or PEPP-A (Pediatric Education for Pre-hospital Professionals Advanced)

The expected salary range for this position is ( $34.29) per hour, in accordance with the New Jersey Pay Transparency Law; final compensation will be commensurate with experience and qualifications.

- Training may take place in a facility or a training clinic other than your assigned home clinic.
