**Job Summary:**
The Equipment Maintenance Specialist ensures the reliable operation of production equipment used in brazing, plating, sputtering, and inspection processes at STC Material Solutions. This role requires hands-on troubleshooting, preventive maintenance, reverse engineering when needed, and coordination with vendors. It is key to minimizing downtime and supporting quality and delivery.
**Essential Functions:**
+ Maintain, troubleshoot, and repair critical equipment related to clean-room, thermal processing, plating, deposition, and inspection systems-including hydrogen and vacuum furnaces, sputtering systems, gold/nickel plating lines, vacuum leak testers, XRF, profilometers, and drying ovens.
+ Support root cause analysis and corrective actions for equipment issues that affect production output, process consistency, or product quality.
+ Develop and update preventive maintenance schedules and work instructions to ensure reliable equipment operation.
+ Manage and maintain maintenance documentation for all production and process equipment.
+ Maintain/upgrade/create and regularly update a centralized database of equipment conditions, service history, and maintenance activities.
+ Collaborate with production, quality, and engineering teams to align equipment performance with process requirements.
+ When necessary, reverse engineer mechanical, electrical, or control systems to restore or improve function.
+ Interface with equipment vendors and external service providers for repair, parts sourcing, and technical consultation.
+ Travel on occasion to evaluate new or used equipment for suitability to IJ Research processes (e.g., brazing, sputtering, plating, etc.).
+ Participate in or lead equipment installations and facility upgrades related to utilities and infrastructure.
+ Maintain proper documentation of work performed, including equipment logs and service reports.
**DESIRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:**
+ 5+ years of relevant hands-on technical experience in a manufacturing or R&D environment
+ Strong mechanical and electrical aptitude; familiarity with vacuum, high-temperature, and clean-room compatible equipment
+ Licensed electrician preferred; but not required
+ Demonstrated ability to work without complete documentation, applying reverse-engineering approaches when required
+ Comfortable working safely with high-temperature, high-voltage, and gas systems (e.g., hydrogen, vacuum)
+ Strong communication skills; able to clearly convey technical findings and collaborate across teams
+ Willingness to travel occasionally for equipment evaluations
+ Familiarity with plating processes, vacuum testing, or thin/thick film deposition
+ Experience with sensors, basic automation, or PLC interfaces
+ Technical certifications in maintenance, controls, or industrial systems
+ Understanding of contamination control, cleanroom standards, or precision metrology tools
**Total Rewards**
The compensation range for this position is $76,200 - $114,000 depending on experience. This position may be eligible for performance-based bonus plans.

Conditions**
Work is normally performed on site at STC's campus in Santa Ana, California. Office work is performed in a climate-controlled environment, but substantial time is required on the manufacturing shop floor, which can be noisy and dusty, and is not climate controlled in the summer season. Proper safety equipment is provided by STC where necessary.
**Physical Demands:**
Work may involve standing and walking for moderate to lengthy periods of time, with some duties performed from a seated position. There is potential for eyestrain from reading detailed materials and computer screen. Deadlines, workloads during peak periods, and changing priorities may cause increased stress levels. Work may include bending and squatting, as well as occasional lifting and carrying objects weighing up to 50 lbs, or pushing/pulling carts loaded with up to 500 lbs.

Job Description
Day-to-day responsibilities of this role include performing various types of maintenance work on printing press equipment, such as:
+ Skillfully conduct inspections, preventative, proactive and repair type maintenance activities on all production related equipment, to include bearings, belts and chains, coupling alignment, gear boxes, bench work; pumps, rebuilding and overhauling; conveyor maintenance, fans and blowers, robotics, electric motor replacement and diagnostics.
+ Utilize and maintain assembly and part drawings to determine part quality and conformity.
+ Follow SOP's, and written procedures, to perform all types of proactive and preventative maintenance tasks, repairs and rebuilds on all production related equipment. Utilize equipment and component documentation to determine proper tensions, speeds, alignment tolerances, pressures, flows, etc.
+ Proactive in creating and maintaining a safe and clean working environment at all times.
+ Properly lubricate, identify, adjust and replace complex components and assemblies of production related equipment to include cylinder changes, folder and print unit drive train rebuilds, and installation of mechanical speed controls.
+ Display a complete understanding of the production process and factors that can affect production yields and quality.
+ Display an ability to routinely and successfully troubleshoot production related deficiencies and determine a plan to correct and prevent similar conditions through scheduled maintenance tasks. Required Qualifications:
+ Ability to work a 12-hour rotating schedule, including days, nights, weekends and holidays.
+ Mechanical Maintenance experience in a Manufacturing environment OR completion of a Maintenance Mechanic Training Program including Welding, Hydraulics, Blueprint Reading and Machine Trades Math, is required.
+ Good verbal and written comprehension, the ability to thrive in a team environment, and work independently with minimal supervision, is required.
+ Must be able to lift 10-15 pounds continuously and up to 70 pounds occasionally.
+ Must be able to stand long hours, use hands and wrists continuously in a controlled movement, receive and follow instructions and use vision to identify defects with or without reasonable accommodation.

**Requirements:**
+ High school diploma or equivalent is required,
+ Associates degree in HVAC, Facilities, or a technical discipline with 5-8 years of relative experience is highly preferred
+ Valid Drivers License

+ Previous experience in building and facilities maintenance is desired
+ Strong working knowledge of various hand and powers tools
+ HVAC Certification preferred or experience in this trade.
+ Prior experience with a Building Automation System is a plus

**Responsibilities:**
+ Responsible for scheduled and unscheduled maintenance and repairs on various facilities systems including, plumbing, electrical, HVAC, and mechanical systems
+ Perform maintenance and repair on furniture systems, small equipment, lighting, plumbing fixtures, minor painting, furniture moves, clean-ups, and thermal comfort calls
+ Assist with grounds keeping as needed -- shoveling snow, spreading salt, gutter cleaning, trimming branches, etc.
+ Support the lab in repairing and testing general lab equipment when necessary, performing scheduled maintenance, equipment setups, and troubleshooting
+ Communicate effectively with the lab team to discuss the status of their maintenance needs
+ Assemble dispensing pumps and clean dies.
+ Conduct morning inspection and record humidity and temperatures. Replace humidity and temperature charts weekly.
+ Conduct scheduled preventative maintenance and routine facility maintenance (e.g., check light fixtures and replace bulbs as needed).
+ Perform troubleshooting and repairs as necessary in production area.
+ Establish equipment maintenance and calibration procedures, and perform and document equipment calibrations (e.g., pumps, process controllers, PLCs, freezers, and refrigerators).
+ Schedule equipment calibration and maintenance activities
+ Create Calibration and Maintenance Plans for new equipment.
+ Perform equipment modification and development.
+ Purchase equipment and equipment spare parts.
+ Complete documentation (e.g., Equipment Qualification, Report of Calibration Failure / Equipment Failure, TDN), and maintain Equipment Files and Maintenance/Calibration tickler file.
