**Raytheon's Receiver, Exciter, and Back-End Processing** ( **REBEP** ) **Department** is the focal point for receiver, exciter, beam steering, and signal processing technology within Raytheon. The department is responsible for the design, development, integration, and support to production builds, and lifecycle support of Raytheon products.
This position is for a multi-disciplined **Senior Principal Hardware Production Support Engineer** , capable of solving design and manufacturing problems and providing highly innovative solutions in multiple product assembly, integration, test, statistical process control and transition to production. Support to production engineers are the liaisons between the design engineers, the factory, and suppliers and are responsible for working with Operations, Supply, Chain, Quality, and other Engineering disciplines to resolve production and transition to production issues.
This **Senior Principal Engineer** position may be responsible for task assignment and execution of other production support engineers, including supporting, training and mentoring junior engineers.
**What You Will Do**
+ Troubleshooting hardware, test station and process issues down to CCA and component levels.
+ Resolution of design issues on RTX production lines and suppliers.
+ Failure analysis / root cause determination and corrective action implementation.
+ Performing circuit analysis including characterization, modeling and simulation of electrical signals in electronics subsystems.
+ Identifying and instantiating circuit card and subassembly design updates.
+ Processing Engineering Change Notices and Variances through the Configuration Control Board process.
+ Support the transition to production of new products.
+ Partnering in the development and troubleshooting of test equipment and establishment of test requirements and procedures.
+ Collaboration across RTN sites will be required for program support.
+ This **1st shift** role is **100% on-site** and will be based in **Tewksbury** , **MA** . Frequent travel is to be anticipated between multiple sites including Andover, MA.
+ Infrequent Travel to Tucson, AZ will be required, anticipated to be approximately 4 times per year.
**Qualifications You Must Have**
+ Typically requires a degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) and a minimum 10 years' of prior work experience OR an Advanced degree and minimum 7 years' of prior work experience.
+ Experience in testing / troubleshooting RF, analog, digital, and/or mixed signal circuits.
+ Experience in failure analysis / Root-Cause Corrective Action (RCCA) investigations; Preferably with supplier and factory issues.
+ Experience leading technical teams (i.e. technical oversight and direction, coordination, and preparation of detailed technical reports).

  3. Work with other Maryville staff or third-party vendors in the delivery of desktop software.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

Education/Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree in a relevant field or equivalent experience.
  • A+ certification and/or helpdesk/technical support experience helpful.
  • Experience coordinating end user training and course development.

The Hardware Team in the RAD group is a diverse group of highly motivated engineers who are passionate about architecting, developing and prototyping the next generation, groundbreaking robotic platforms. We want you  to join our team and be part of the success of our mission. 

Core Job Responsibilities:

  • Using requirements developed through multi-functional team input, design and develop computer and network architecture schemes for advanced robotic systems. 

  • Distill internal requirements into subsystem specifications for computer designs including memory, processing power, computing speeds, peripheral busses, graphics, and thermals. 

  • Understand commercial product roadmaps related to processing systems to resolve short term and long-term needs and benefits. 

  • Deliver documentation to support computer architecture decisions in medical devices such as technical reviews, test results, and theory of operations. 

  • Collaborate with multi-functional teammates to develop robust architectures driven by test and simulation analysis.

  • Perform component and subsystem level testing to ensure conformance to design. Testing may include EMI and ESD analysis, test fixturing, and thermal analysis, in addition to other specialties for specific projects. 

  • Participate in and drive design reviews, fault safety analysis, and design FMEA analysis.

Qualifications

Required Knowledge/Skills, Education, And Experience:

  • Bachelor’s in engineering (or related field) with 6+ years, or Advanced Degree in Engineering or related field with 4+ years of industry experience.

  • Demonstrated experience architecting computer systems using both x86 and ARM architectures.

  • Proven experience designing and developing custom computer solutions from feasibility through to production.

  • Ability to work onsite at Santa Clara Office.

Preferred Knowledge/Skills, Education, And Experience:

  • Experience designing electronics in Medical or similar regulated industry.

  • Demonstrated understanding of embedded buses and industrial network systems (PCIe, Ethernet, EtherCat, CAN, etc.).

  • Experience using Electronics CAD (Altium, Cadence) and Thermal Simulation Tools.

  • Experience with Linux and Real-time Operating systems and middleware, such as Ubuntu, and QNX. 

  • Understanding of specifications and implementation of GPUs and FPGAs.

  • Understanding of software architecture and its implications on hardware design.

The Company maintains highly competitive, performance-based compensation programs.  Under current guidelines, this position is eligible for an annual performance bonus in accordance with the terms of the applicable plan.  The annual performance bonus is a cash bonus intended to provide an incentive to achieve annual targeted results by rewarding for individual and the corporation’s performance over a calendar/performance year.  Bonuses are awarded at the Company’s discretion on an individual basis.
