Exceptional opportunity working on a temp-to-hire assignment at a leading hazardous waste company serving a wide range of government and commercial markets. We are seeking an entry-level detail-oriented Hazardous Materials Specialist to support our waste management and shipping operations.

Non-Exempt. This role will work closely with the treatment, storage and disposal facilities to ensure that waste is characterized correctly and ensure that all hazardous material shipments brokered by our company comply with DOT and hazardous material regulations while meeting customer delivery expectations.

Duties

· Prepare and process hazardous material and non-hazardous material air and ground shipments in compliance with DOT regulations.

· Accurately complete shipping paperwork, labels, and documentation for domestic ground and air freight.

· Inspect and verify product packaging, labeling, and placarding for all shipments.

· Coordinate with internal departments and carriers to ensure timely and compliant deliveries.

· Assist with profiling customer waste streams to capture all physical, chemical, and radiological properties.

· Maintain shipping and characterization records and ensure data accuracy.

· Adhere to all company safety procedures and regulatory guidelines.

· Other duties as assigned.

· Prior experience with DOT ground shipping and Hazmat compliance preferred but not required.

· Must possess an Associate or higher degree preferably in a technical or scientific field.

· Ability to become a certified DOT Hazmat shipper.

· Strong attention to detail and organizational skills

· Ability to work independently and within a team.

· Basic computer skills and ability to learn shipping software.

· Basic math skills and ability to work with spreadsheets.

Working Conditions

Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs and stand/walk for extended periods.

Drive 10 wheeler truck to supply fuel, water, spray and other chemicals for the helicopters which land on top of the truck. Must have a Class A or "B" CDL with hazmat and tanker endorsements. Employer prefers someone with truck driving experience but is willing to train non-experienced driver with a class "B" CDL with hazmat. Pay is $225 per day 7 days depending on the weather conditions (Rain and wind makes it impossible to complete service duties). This job is full time/permanent. Hours varies from 60-70 hours a week.

• Pack and load products onto trucks
• Deliver orders to customers on assigned routes

Summary

CHS is looking for a Hazmat Driver to join our team in Des Moines! This individual will be hauling fuel to local customers in the area, and drivers are home each night for supper. We are looking to fill either a Sun- Thurs or Tues- Saturday shift at the site.

This role is eligible for a $3,000 sign on bonus. $500 will be paid after 30 days, and an additional 1500 after 1 year in the role.

Responsibilities

• Ensure accurate and on time deliveries to our customers in a safe, timely, and professional manner.

• Ensure compliance with all local, state, and federal laws. To include but not limited to pre-trip and post-trip reporting, proper load securement and hours of service.

• Assist in the warehouse when not delivering product.

• Work extended hours in-season to meet business demands.

• Maintain and promote a strong safety culture and follow all safety policies, procedures and regulations. Identify and communicate workplace hazards and correct or seek assistance in correcting unsafe actions or conditions

• Assist warehouse staff and perform other duties as needed or assigned.

Minimum Qualifications (required)

• Class A CDL with hazmat endorsement

• 2+ years of CDL Driving experience

• Must meet minimum age requirement

• Ability to read, write and communicate in English and understand highway traffic signs and signals

Additional Qualifications

• Tanker and Air Brake endorsements

• Must meet DOT and Company requirements

• Ability to work additional hours and occasional Saturdays to meet business demands

• Bulk liquid experience preferred
