This Extension assignment will cover either the Central Region of Alabama (counties include St. Clair **.** Jefferson, Shelby, Bibb, Chilton, Elmore, Autauga, Lowndes or Montgomery) or the Northeast Region of Alabama (counties include Madison, Jackson, Marshall, DeKalb, Cullman, Blount, Etowah and Cherokee) **The Agent will be housed in one of the counties in their designated region.**
**Essential Functions**
**Responsibilities:**
The EA is expected to develop an expertise in farm management and economic decision making with an agronomic (row) crops emphasis. This will include developing competencies in budgeting, value added marketing, business planning, and record keeping. In relation to the broader context of farm and agribusiness management, competencies are expected to be developed around agricultural risk management strategies that focus on the following areas: production, financial, legal, marketing, and human risk. Application of economic principles should be relevant to agricultural production in Alabama.
The EA will be the first point of contact for farm and agribusiness educational programming in their assigned areas and have statewide programmatic opportunities in conjunction with the Agronomic Crops team. The EA will collaborate with state specialists and utilize all available/emerging technologies to provide clients with solutions-based educational programming through meetings, workshops, publications, web sites, and other outreach techniques. Program audiences include farmers, farm families, landowners, agricultural businesses, cooperatives, farm organizations, commodity groups, and mass media.
In addition, the EA will be part of a statewide Extension Priority Program Team and be expected to participate as a team member to plan, promote, and execute statewide team programs as well as participate in statewide team training opportunities. This includes participation in writing grants and in activities that support applied research/demonstrations beneficial to clientele. Participating in regional and state associations, and other groups, is important for the EA to develop a reputation as an educational leader with the Alabama Cooperative Extension System. The EA will also assist the team leader and administrators in program evaluation and impact reporting.

A Bachelor's degree in Agricultural Economics, Agribusiness Management, Agribusiness and Food Industry Management, an agriculture major with a business specialization or minor, or a related field.
**Level I** :

+ Bachelor's degree and 4 years of experience implementing, managing, or delivering educational programs in a relevant discipline, including formal and/or informal teaching methods.
