**About The Role**
As the Safety and Compliance Officer, one will work closely with other members of the autonomous driving validation operations to institute a culture of safety and compliance, supported by a robust strategy, systems and processes for ensuring the highest levels of safety and compliance across our Operations. These will at all times support and be aligned with the Gold Standards at Safety and processes of our partner organization. Breathing the best in class safety practices, methodologies, automation and simplification to make it work on the ground providing best experience to the employees and communities where we drive.

**Key Expectations from the Role**
● Establishing a strategy and protocols to ensure compliance with DOT, Non DOT regulatory and partner safety and compliance standards and mitigate operational risks.
● Evaluate the current processes, practices and identify the risks and opportunities to transform into best in class
● Collaborate with multi-functional teams to establish and maintain QMS, ISO, EHS quality assurance processes, including regular audits, inspections, and assessments to identify potential safety hazards and implement corrective actions.
● Define the processes, make them measurable and establish qualitative and quantitative outcomes
● Serve as a safety advocate within the organization, fostering a culture of safety awareness and accountability among employees and stakeholders through training, communication, and continuous improvement initiatives.
● Conduct analysis of safety data and performance metrics to identify trends, patterns, and areas for improvement, and develop strategies to enhance safety outcomes and reduce incidents.
● Focus on the emerging trends, technologies, and regulatory changes in the market, and overlay them onto the Operations safety landscape, and provide strategic guidance and recommendations to senior management to ensure compliance and maintain a competitive edge.
● Be a liaison with regulatory agencies, industry associations, and other internal & external stakeholders to represent the company's interests and influence policy development and industry standards related to transportation safety.
● Develop and oversee a comprehensive safety governance framework for operations, encompassing policies, procedures, and protocols to ensure compliance.
● Engage and lead the safety governance forums
**Preferred qualifications**
● 10+ years of experience in transportation safety management or a similar role.
● Bachelors in Engineering / Technology preferably Mechanical engineering.
● Deep understanding of safety regulations, standards, and best practices applicable to Autonomous vehicle transportation operations
● Certified Safety Professional (CSP) or equivalent safety certification.
● Experience as Internal Auditor / Certification on ISO 9001 QMS and ISO 14001 EHS
● Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to simplify complex concepts and present at all levels within the organization
● Outstanding leadership / organizational skills with a track record of managing complex functional interactions
● Ability to scale-up the processes, standardize across multiple sites
● Right to work in the United States of America.
**Salary and Other Compensation:**

The yearly rate for this position is between **$106,080.00 - $114,400.00 per year** , depending on experience and other qualifications of the successful candidate.
This position is also eligible for Cognizant's discretionary annual incentive program, based on performance and subject to the terms of Cognizant's applicable plans.

**About The Role**
As the Safety and Compliance Officer, one will work closely with other members of the autonomous driving validation operations to institute a culture of safety and compliance, supported by a robust strategy, systems and processes for ensuring the highest levels of safety and compliance across our Operations. **Key Expectations from the Role**
● Establishing a strategy and protocols to ensure compliance with DOT, Non DOT regulatory and partner safety and compliance standards and mitigate operational risks.

**Preferred qualifications**
● 10+ years of experience in transportation safety management or a similar role.
● Bachelors in Engineering / Technology preferably Mechanical engineering.
● Deep understanding of safety regulations, standards, and best practices applicable to Autonomous vehicle transportation operations
● Certified Safety Professional (CSP) or equivalent safety certification.
● Experience as Internal Auditor / Certification on ISO 9001 QMS and ISO 14001 EHS
● Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to simplify complex concepts and present at all levels within the organization
● Outstanding leadership / organizational skills with a track record of managing complex functional interactions

**Salary and Other Compensation:**

This role will be a driving force behind the industry-leading safety programs, policies, and customer support initiatives that help prevent safety incidents. This is the ideal role for someone who has experience building out a safety risk mitigation program. You will partner directly with senior leadership across functions and geographies to implement and scale initiatives, align priorities with overall safety strategy, and partner with product teams to drive the personal safety product roadmap.

What You'll Do
+ Develop a strategic plan and roadmap for personal safety 00 defining risks, developing success criteria, and mapping out existing programs, products, and processes that mitigate these risks (controls)

+ Ensuring installations are performed within safety standards and work site conditions (cleanliness), including restoration of the site to original or better condition.
+ Evaluates performance results and recommends changes for continuous improvement.
+ Functions as a safety expert across multiple project assignments.

Qualifications
Education / Certifications:
+ Technical BA / BS Degree; Or
+ High School Diploma or Associate Degree.
+ OSHA Certified
+ Construction Safety 30-hour Training
+ Confined Space Training
+ First Aid Training
Experience / Skills:
+ 7 years with BA / BS Degree
+ Minimum of 10 years performing as a Safety Lead, Manager, or Officer supporting solutions on large, complex projects with High School Diploma or Associate Degree.
Clearance Requirement:
+ This position requires an active Department of Defense (DoD) Secret (Tier 3) level clearance.
Skills & Technology Used:
+ Experience supporting DoD projects, specifically network modernization projects.
+ Proficient with MS Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Visio).
