Well-known examples of Alternative Data include sentiment measures, real-time tracking of vehicles via GPS transponders, satellite monitoring of industrial facilities, and consumer insights gleaned from anonymized transactions. These datasets are often considered "alternative" because they do not fall in the traditional categories of data used by the financial industry: stock prices, company fundamentals, options and futures data, and so forth. Their importance in the financial markets is increasing rapidly as hedge funds and active asset managers are eager for data that offers predictive insights into the performance of individual companies, sectors, and the macro economy.

The Opportunity

Nasdaq is currently seeking an experienced Head of Data Partnerships to join our team. This is a unique and applied role with the vast majority of the individual's time spent on formulating and executing our partnership strategy, leading and mentoring their team members, and pursuing and negotiating partnerships. In this role, the successful candidate will work closely with our team leadership encompassing Product, Data Science, Data Engineering, Sales, Marketing and Client Success.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Lead a team of data partnership professionals, defining best practices in deal negotiation and relationship management
  • Leverage financial market expertise to identify and evaluate new data sources for potential partnerships
  • Create and manage the formation of new data partnerships from concept to completion
  • Oversee the quantitative and fundamental analysis of new data sources to quantify their informational advantage
  • Build partnership collateral, such as web documentation, white papers, and presentations
  • Work closely with Product, Sales, and Marketing teams to build go-to-market plans for new data products
  • Interact directly with clients and partners to answer technical questions about data sources and partnerships
  • Strong knowledge of the Alternative Data industry and key players, financial markets, data, and related technology

Qualifications and Skills

The ideal candidate is a highly skilled partnership negotiator and relationship manager with experience in the capital markets or financial services industry.
  • 10+ years experience in capital markets or financial services industry
  • 3+ years experience leading a high performing team
  • 2+ years experience working with Alternative Data
  • Highly experienced in partnership negotiation
  • Demonstrated experience managing relationships and driving consensus with senior leaders

  • Bachelor's degree is required. Mathematics/Statistics, Finance, Computing, or related fields are preferred.
This position offers the opportunity for a hybrid work environment (at least 3 days a week in office, subject to change), providing flexibility and accessibility for qualified candidates.

Come as You Are

Nasdaq is an equal opportunity employer. We positively encourage applications from suitably qualified and eligible candidates regardless of age, color, disability, national origin, ancestry, race, religion, gender, sexual orientation, gender identity and/or expression, veteran status, genetic information, or any other status protected by applicable law.
