Your Opportunity
Stantec is seeking a Scientist/Environmental Engineer/Safety Professional to lead a team of EHS professionals/EHS compliance specialists delivering EHS and sustainability solutions to commercial, pharmaceutical, food and beverage, manufacturing, mining, oil and gas, power, and other industrial clients. The position includes completion of EHS projects through each stage of our client's facility life cycle - including business and property acquisition due diligence, industrial facility operational compliance, auditing, environmental assessment/evaluation, and facility decommissioning and divestiture.
As a Safety Subject Matter Expert, you will provide the following consulting services to our clients:
- Strategic support for client's Contractor Safety Program
- Training plan recommendations and requirements
- Safety Program review and recommended updates
- Safety Culture assessment review and recommendations
- Project site observations and documented notes for recommended corrective actions
- Coaching and mentoring of client staff and their contractors.
Projects may include
- EHS due diligence, Phase I ESAs, and environmental assessment in support of business and property acquisitions.
- Environmental assessments and studies, including environmental remediation and restoration.
- EHS regulatory compliance assessments and audits at industrial and manufacturing client facilities and where clients perform field activities.
- On-site EHS support at client facilities including completion of routine inspections, development of EHS programs, and correction of deficiencies in accordance with OSHA, DOT, federal, municipal, and/or state environmental regulations.
- Technical consulting for clients on regulatory compliance matters including permit management, routine regulatory reporting (i.e., air, hazardous waste (RCRA and non-RCRA), EPCRA, etc.), occupational health, industrial hygiene, and industrial safety.
- Energy and water use efficiency evaluations and implementation of improved sustainability measures.
- EHS support during facility decommissioning, decontamination, and divestiture.

- Develop and coordinate a team of EHS consulting professionals.
- Direct client interaction and accountability. Manage multiple clients and assume responsibility for the relationship and Stantec deliverables.
Your Capabilities and Credentials
- A qualified candidate will have direct relevant experience supporting or leading all aspects of EHS, including but not limited to: due diligence, auditing, and compliance assurance; EHS procedures development and training in industrial and manufacturing settings; air quality, wastewater, chemical management, bulk liquid storage, and waste handling; industrial hygiene, environmental assessment, and industrial safety compliance.
- Capable of promoting Stantec and discussing all our service offerings with a wide range of clients and/or prospective clients.
- Participation in EHS audits to local, state, and federal regulations.
- Practical ability to analyze technical data, perform research, demonstrate technical knowledge, and problem solve.
- Strong organizational and communications skills (able to communicate solutions in writing, verbally and graphically).
- Possession of current OSHA 40-hour HAZWOPER training or ability to obtain this training is required.
- OSHA 30-hour general industry and/or 10-hour construction safety training recommended.
- Certified Safety Professional (CSP), Certified Environmental and Safety Compliance Officer (CESCO), and or Certified Hazardous Materials Manager (CHMM) preferred.
- Travel may be required for the purpose of conducting EHS assessments, on-site EHS support, or for off-site meetings with clients and/or regulatory agencies.
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Suite (Excel, Word, SharePoint, and PowerPoint).
Education and Experience
- A BS in Engineering, Environmental Science preferred, or related field.
- Experience in electronic manufacturing, pharmaceutical manufacturing, and industrial sector projects, power generation, and mining experience is preferred.
- Minimum of 2 years related experience including: - Experience in electronic manufacturing, pharmaceutical manufacturing, and industrial sector projects, power generation, and mining experience is preferred.
- Experience with sustainability, including energy efficiency in industrial processes, greenhouse gas emissions reduction, delivering water reuse and recycling solutions, and supporting sustainable supply chain capacity building is helpful, as well as exposure to facility closure,
- site investigation and land remediation services.
- Field experience is mandatory, focusing on industrial EHS compliance experience and environmental assessment implementation and oversight.
- Annual and/or random drug screening may be required by some clients.
- This position will require the successful passing of a pre-employment physical and drug screen.
Typical office environment working with computers and remaining sedentary for long periods of time. Field work may include exposure to the elements including inclement weather.

**Pay Range:**
- Locations in CO, HI, MD & Various CA, NJ Areas - Min Salary $ 91,500.00 - Max Salary $ 132,700.00

Please note, the final agreed upon compensation is based on individual education, qualifications, experience, and work location. At Stantec certain roles are bonus eligible.

ERM is hiring a motivated hands-on Environmental, Health and Safety (EHS) Consultant to join our growing Performance & Assurance technical team in Sunnyvale, California .  This position is expected to involve working a minimum of 3 days on-site. This is a full-time (40 hours a week) limited-term role with a duration of 4 months , renewable.

The ideal candidate will have experience developing and supporting implementation of Cal/OSHA requirements, Standard Operating Procedures, Job Hazard Analysis/ Risk Assessments, Emergency Response Plans, Behavioral Safety Programs and Contractor Safety Management.  Candidates should also have familiarity with research laboratory safety requirements, waste management (hazardous, non-hazardous, universal/ electronic), environmental reporting (HMBPs), and chemical safety requirements.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Perform compliance audits to assess client compliance with applicable health and safety or environmental regulatory requirements, client standards, or management systems.

  • Support our clients’ desire to improve safety performance by providing training, field coaching, and targeted EHS assessments.

  • Identify follow-up corrective actions to close audit findings.

  • Provide technical assistance on EHS compliance and EHS management system projects on a range of areas such as R&D laboratory safety, chemical safety, machine guarding, laser safety, robotics safety, hazardous materials use/storage/waste, EHS auditing.

  • Develop and implement EHS compliance procedures, plans, permits, and reports.

  • Manage tasks within assigned scope/budget/schedule and ensure quality standards on project deliverables.

Pay Transparency:  

For the Senior Environmental, Health and Safety (EHS) Consultant position, we anticipate the annual base pay of $88,236– $32,849, 42.42/hr - 63.86/hr USD , limited-term, non-exempt.  An employee’s pay position within this range will be based on several factors including, but not limited to, relevant education, qualifications, certifications, experience, skills, geographic location, performance, shift, travel requirements, sales or revenue-based metrics, and business or organizational needs.  We also may have instances where employee’s fall outside of the range based on the factors noted above.  This job may be eligible for bonus pay (casual and fixed term/Flexforce employees are NOT bonus eligible).

  • 2+ years of relevant experience in working with significant private-sector clients.

  • Willingness to travel to and be at client site(s) for up to 40 hours/week primarily within the Northern California Bay Area. 

  • Working understanding of relevant local, state and federal regulations and how they apply to specific industries.

  • Ability to prioritize and manage multiple assignments (tasks and deliverables) concurrently.

  • Support our clients’ desire to improve safety performance by providing training, field coaching, and targeted EHS assessments.

  • Identify follow-up corrective actions to close audit findings.

  • Provide technical assistance on EHS compliance and EHS management system projects on a range of areas such as R&D laboratory safety, chemical safety, machine guarding, laser safety, robotics safety, hazardous materials use/storage/waste, EHS auditing.

  • Develop and implement EHS compliance procedures, plans, permits, and reports.

  • Manage tasks within assigned scope/budget/schedule and ensure quality standards on project deliverables.

  • Build client relationships and nurture repeat business by continuously striving to exceed their expectations.

  • Support ERM Partners and Project Managers to effectively manage and deliver projects.

  • Build strong collaborative relationships with other ERM employees.

REQUIREMENTS:

  • BS in engineering, environmental science, occupational health and safety, or related discipline preferred.

  • A minimum of 7 years of applicable experience providing EHS support with an emphasis on health and safety.

  • Effective written/verbal communication and organization/analytical skills; experience recording/writing detailed technical data and reports a plus.

  • Ability to succeed in a fast-paced consulting environment, handling multiple assignments, meeting strict deadlines, and being able to re-prioritize tasks as-needed.

  • Valid driver’s license and good driving record.

Pay Transparency:  

For the Environmental, Health and Safety (EHS) Consultant position, we anticipate the annual base pay of $76,000– $7,400, 36.54/hr - 46.82/hr USD , limited-term, non-exempt.  An employee’s pay position within this range will be based on several factors including, but not limited to, relevant education, qualifications, certifications, experience, skills, geographic location, performance, shift, travel requirements, sales or revenue-based metrics, and business or organizational needs.  We also may have instances where employee’s fall outside of the range based on the factors noted above.  This job may be eligible for bonus pay (casual and fixed term/Flexforce employees are NOT bonus eligible).  

We offer a comprehensive package of benefits including paid time off, medical, dental, vision, 401(k), life & disability insurance to  benefits eligible * employees.

**Job Description Summary:**
Works under the direction of Dir Safety, Environment of Care & Emergency Mgmt., and is responsible for monitoring and improving the Environment of Care and Safety program at a hospital campus. Monitors and maintains the hospitals compliance with JCAHO, OSHA, EPA and state and local regulations pertaining to safety, fire safety and environmental protection.
**Responsibilities And Duties:**
The Sr. Consultant of Environmental Health and Safety assist the Director in providing Occupational Health and Safety Administration (OSHA) program leadership and subject matter expertise to all OhioHealth Care Sites (Hospitals, FSEDs, and Physician Practices). Assures regulatory compliance in the management of Occupational Safety Related topics such as electrical safety, control of hazardous energy, walking-working surfaces, industrial hygiene, materials handling, personal protective equipment, etc. in accordance with federal, state, and local laws.
The Sr. Consultant will be responsible for developing, implementing, maintaining, and supporting the Occupational Safety and Health Programs for all OhioHealth Care Site locations.
Assists in managing incident investigations, hazard corrections and reporting documentation; provide recommendations on process improvement.
Understands and interprets regulatory standards and is able to advise care site Sr. Consultants regulations or changes in regulations. Likewise, understands or has the ability to learn The Joint Commission (TJC) standards and provide recommendations that comply with both OSHA and TJC.
Supports annual and semi-annual regulatory exposure monitoring and provide assistance for interpreting results or questions; provide recommendations for action plans, if needed.
Develop and provide training or coordinate training classes on safety related topics.
Supports the care site Sr. Safety Consultants in auditing safety compliance of Contractors, subcontractors and external personnel performing construction projects on OhioHealth property.
Annually reviews company policies and programs to ensure compliance with applicable safety standards.
Supports EPA and environmental compliance programs.
**Minimum Qualifications:**
Bachelor's Degree: Safety (Required)
**Additional Job Description:**
**SPECIALIZED KNOWLEDGE**
+ Recent Life safety Code certificate.
+ GSP, ASP, CSP or path to certification is preferred.
+ Experience in the application of occupational safety regulations and standards.
+ Excellent computer skills.
