**RESPONSIBILITIES DESCRIPTION**
The EH&S Technician supports the implementation and maintenance of Environmental Health & Safety programs to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and corporate standards. This role assists in daily safety operations, data collection, training coordination, and incident follow-up, contributing to a proactive safety culture within the Pencader Vespel site in Newark DE.

**JOB QUALIFICATIONS**

Required:
+ High school diploma or GED equivalent.
+ Minimum 2 years of experience in manufacturing or industrial safety roles.
+ Basic understanding of EH&S regulations and standards (OSHA, EPA, etc.).
+ Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
+ Strong organizational and communication skills.

Preferred:

EH&S TECHNICIAN II/SENIOR
Based onsite at Rocket Lab Headquarters and Engine Development Center in Long Beach California, the Environmental Health and Safety (EH&S) Technician is responsible for the company's overall compliance with federal, state and local health, safety and environmental regulations. This includes the management of OSHA health and safety programs, policies, forms and training, and compliance with EPA hazardous waste management and permit reporting requirements.
(Please note: this position can be hired at the EH&S Technician II or Senior EH&S Technician level)
WHAT YOU'LL GET TO DO:
- Handle Rocket Lab headquarters and the Engine Development Center environmental health and safety operations as primary responsibility
- Inspect work areas and document all responsible activities as required by Local, State and Federal law and internal company practices.
- Assist in the implementation and enforcement of the company's environmental, health and safety policies.
- Assist EHS team by responding to and assessing employee concerns.
- Support in identifying hazards for high-risk activities, assessing the risks, and completing risk assessment reports.
- Support in evaluating new and existing jobs, processes, products, or other systems to determine the existence, severity, probability and outcome of hazards.

The EHS Tech will assist the EHS Leader in implementing loss control and accident prevention activities to help ensure compliance with company, local, state, and federal regulations. **EHS Tech - Summary**
Ensures compliance with Plant Safety rules, OSHA regulations and assists with environmental compliance to the facility. This includes local, state and federal requirements. Leads site initiatives to support the Polaris Safety & Health Policies and promotes cross-site consistency on facility safety and environmental programs. Role would be at least 80% of time on production floor.
**Projected schedule:** Monday-Thursday (4 10-hour shifts); 4:30pm-3:00am. This role will mainly support the afternoon/evenings on our week-night production shifts. The first few weeks will have a earlier, modified start time for training and onboarding.

**Responsibilities**
+ Serve as a resource on issues related to safety, compliance, and training.
+ Plan and coordinate safety training programs; prepare related materials; coordinate, schedule and present training classes; evaluate program effectiveness and recommend modifications.
+ Conduct a variety of safety inspections and audits; ensure compliance with OSHA standards and correct on-the-spot safety violations; inform department of findings, recommend corrective or preventative measures, and perform follow-up inspections.
+ Conducts employee training on safety programs (e.g. Hazcom/RTK, HAZWOPER, Fire protection, PPE, Respiratory Protection, Confined Space Entry, Crane/Hoist inspection coordination, Compressed gases, Fall Protection, Ladder safety, Machine Guarding, Portable Power Tools, Forklift Operations).
+ Conduct Ergonomic assessments and provide support and advice for the continuous improvement of job processes to reduce the risk of cumulative trauma disorders.
+ Lead A-Team investigations to identify root cause of unplanned incidents.
+ Conducts Tooling and fixture inspections to ensure design requirements are met.
+ Inspect and ensure the ready status of emergency response equipment.
+ Provide administrative safety support; prepare and compiles information for various reports.
+ Maintain material safety data sheets; document training activities
+ Order safety equipment for department vehicles and facilities.
+ Oversee and lead the Shift First Responder Team and plant Safety Committee.
+ Provides technical assistance to plant personnel on safety and environmental issues.
+ Serve as a resource on facility wide issues related to Safety, OSHA compliance, Site Security and employee training.
**Certifications**
+ First Responder, First Aid, CPR certification will be required.

Summary:
The Environmental Health and Safety (EHS) Technician reports to the Safety Manager and will regularly exercise independent judgment while performing regulatory compliance fundamental functions, including OSHA, NFPA and other health and safety compliance programs. The EHS Technician role encompasses a wide variety of duties related to EHS surveillance at both the Pacific Cast Technologies and Selmet facilities in Albany, OR and participation in preventive and corrective actions that protect our employees and the environment and ensure environmental compliance. Additional duties will include assisting the Environmental Manager with Resource Conservation and Recovery Act, Stormwater, Air and other environmental compliance programs.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Perform essential functions safely, adhering to all safety requirements, and promoting safety through leadership as an EHS representative.
- Assists in coordination of CPR/First-Aid AED teams, spill teams and confined space teams.
- Coordinating training events and emergency scenarios.
- Administer training to new hires and for safety programs.
- Assist the Safety manager and Safety Specialists in the organization of certification documents, training, and medical records.
- Tracks and generates reporting metrics on injuries and incidents.
- Participate in incident root cause investigations and help develop corrective and preventative actions.
- Support plant managers and supervisors with access and direction to safety related materials and resources.
- Assists in developing and implementing techniques and methods of process control increasing plant efficiency related to EHS program management.
- Develops standard operating procedures related to life safety programs.
- Provides environmental, health and safety training to employees.
- May perform monthly and annual reporting to regulatory agencies.
- Recognizes and reports process deviations and assists with diagnosis and correction of safety/process/quality problems.
- Provides both internal and external customer service in support of operating departments related to training on life threat programs, Industrial Mechanical Equipment, and crane inspections.
- Completes special projects and participates in continuous safety improvement activities.
- Initiates work orders and requisitions for tools, materials, equipment, and services.
- Performs other duties as assigned.

**Health, Safety, and Environment Technician**
**YOUR TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES**
The primary responsibilities of this role, Health, Safety, and Environment Technician, are to:
+ Display working knowledge of warehouse, plant, greenhouse, and field operations;
+ Promote an environment that continuously meets and improves established Bayer (HSE) Health, Safety and Environment manufacturing fundamentals;
+ Lead the site HSE Safety Program and drive employee engagement, through safety projects and new initiatives, and timely reporting of safety issues;
+ Promote continuous improvement of site safety culture through visible leadership;
+ Drive employee engagement by creating internal audit opportunities with visible corrective action tracking;
+ Develop operational (hands-on) knowledge and functional understanding of key operational areas across the warehouse, plant, greenhouse, and field;
+ Engage as chair of at least one of the Safety committees (e.g., Off the Job Safety);
+ Mentor less experienced Safety technicians and coach employees across the site on basic safety standards;
+ Ensure compliance with all hazardous work permits and site environmental permits;
+ Support areas across the plant in driving the adoption of 5S practices to maintain an environment conducive to work, aligning with the labeling and ordering of tools;
+ Utilize Focused Improvement (e.g., 5WHY's) techniques to contribute to the improvement of processes and site safety program;
+ Initiate periodic communication with HSE Generalist and Corporate HSE Team to ensure alignment;
+ Help keep metrics and other relevant information current on visual boards to drive teamwork and facilitate shift change over;
+ Participate in DDS (Daily Direction Setting) meetings and follow through on safety-related issues;
+ Active Participant in CMR program;
+ Position entails driving a company vehicle. This may include being required to drive greater than 5,000 business miles annually in a personal, pooled, or rented vehicle **OR** being expected to frequently drive a pooled car as part of your job duties - regardless of mileage.
**WHO YOU ARE**

Required Qualifications:
+ High School Diploma or GED;
+ Relevant experience in safety or manufacturing, agriculture, greenhouse, or technical environment;

Under general direction of the HSE Manager and Manufacturing Director this position serves as coordinator for occupational safety programs within one or more divisions and/or departments. Plan, design, develop, implement, and evaluate departmental occupational safety programs.
Essential Responsibilities
• Assist the HSE Manager / Supervisor with the implementation of environment, safety and health programs, as directed.
• Schedule and conduct weekly safety meetings.
• Conduct daily, weekly and monthly safety audits.
• Maintain Safety Data Sheets (SDS)
• Conduct safety orientation for new employees and contractors if necessary.
• Will serve as a member and conduct facility safety committee meetings.
• Conduct and lead the Emergency Response Team (ERT) to include CPR/First Aid & AED Training.
• Coordinate and lead the Emergency Evacuation / Emergency Weather Preparedness Procedures.
• Generate the initial investigation for Health, Safety and Environmental incidents and input data onto the proper documentation to be forwarded to the Management Team.
- Ensures timely completion of accident/injury reporting.
- Reviews and investigates accident/incident reports, compiling findings and recommendations for corrective actions into summary report.
• Generate monthly reports as directed by the Powell management.
• Interface between manufacturing employees and Powell Leadership Team
