  • Computer literacy must be sufficient to communicate effectively through emails and prepare written reports and summarize observations, prepare incident reports and statements, basic spreadsheets and time and expense reporting.
  • Employees will be required to climb and work from ladders, scaffolds, and elevated platforms. The scope may require climbing access ladders on plant equipment to various heights. At times, the employee must enter several types of process equipment where work is being performed. Work will occur on hard and uneven surfaces like gravel, asphalt, and cement. Where excavations are present soil conditions will be slippery at times and change as work progresses throughout the project. Work will occur in all weather conditions in an outdoor environment. Some projects require work at night.
  • Employee will be required to perform the scope of the assignment while wearing the appropriate personal protective equipment, including but not limited to flame retardant clothing, chemical suits, respirators, breathing air equipment, rescue harness, safety harness with lanyards, hardhats, and other equipment required for personal safety.

The Safety Technician is primarily responsible for serving as the health, safety, and emergency response subject matter expert on shift. **What are we looking for in the ideal candidate?**
+ H.S. Education or Equivalent required. Degree and/or certification in Health & Safety Sciences or related field preferred
+ Strong leadership skills demonstrated by three (3) or more years in a Health and Safety Technician role, having previous LNG, Petrochemical, or Oil and Gas manufacturing industry a plus.
+ Occupational Health and Safety knowledge, experience, or education related to job site hazard recognition safety inspection/audits for permit to work, hazardous energy isolation, hot-work (metal welding-grinding-thermal cutting), confined space entry, elevated work/fall protection, housekeeping, and crane hoisting and rigging.
+ Experience in Health and Safety policies, procedures, and standards in Industrial operations
+ Any of the following certifications (not required but a plus): OSHA 500, OSHA 510, CSP, CHST, LSP, OHST, ASP Preferred CPR, First Aid, and AED certification.
+ Current EMT with 5+ years of experience
+ Preferred Industrial Fire Training
+ Preferred Incident Command System training and experience

The Safety Technician is responsible for supporting and ensuring the effective implementation of safety policies and procedures within the organization. This role involves conducting safety inspections, investigations, and training to maintain a safe and compliant work environment.
**Job Summary Details** :
Safety Inspections: Conduct regular safety inspections and audits of facilities, equipment, and work practices. Identify potential hazards and non-compliance issues, and recommend corrective actions.
Incident Investigation: Investigate accidents, near misses, and safety incidents. Prepare detailed reports and recommendations to prevent recurrence.
Safety Training: Develop and deliver safety training programs for employees on topics such as emergency procedures, proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE), and safe work practices. Maintain training records and ensure all employees are up-to-date with required certifications.

QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum of 3 years of experience in a safety technician role or related field.

Ability to work flexible hours, including holidays and weekends if needed
Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and procedure manuals and handbooks
Possess and utilize effective listening skill
Strong knowledge of safety regulations and standards.

Ability to analyze data, conduct risk assessments, and develop safety plans.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and safety management software.
WORKING CONDITIONS
Conditions may require walking, stooping, climbing, pushing, pulling, heavy lifting (less than or equal to 35 pounds), bending, working in awkward positions handling equipment and materials. Employees will be required to wear protective clothing and/or respiratory equipment when conditions warrant.
In order to operate a vehicle at the customer's site, employees must obtain an ABM drivers permit per the ABM Drivers Safety MVR registration program. This policy checks for a valid State ID along with a citation background check, and those with high risk driving habits will need additional driver education in order to obtain the permit. Employees who operate company vehicles must consistently meet the requirements of the Facility Vehicle Safety Program.

The Safety Technician reports to the senior field leader, with a dotted line to EHS. They promote a peer-to-peer culture of safety responsibility, safety inclusion, and safety improvement while continuously expanding the site's safety knowledge through industry-accepted best practices. This role will be heavily involved in the human factors of safety and how to perform work as safely as possible.
**Key Responsibilities:**
+ **Safety** : Drive safety culture among peers, building peer-to-peer accountability at the site level. Lead safety committees and meetings, creating materials and actions accordingly. Coach technicians on proper site escalation procedures.
+ **Maintenance** : Own safety work orders, site Austin Action Items, projects, and network actions. Inspect technician PPE, tools, and maintenance equipment in order to reduce the likelihood of workplace incidents and injuries, and to maintain a safe working environment.
+ **Monitoring** : Perform job hazard analysis to identify hazards within the workplace. Conduct audits on a timely basis to ensure compliance with Amazon, CWS, and local/state/federal agencies. Facilitate, document, and ensure all employees at the site receive required safety trainings.
+ **Support** : Partner with site leadership to develop an action tracker for Good Catches that require follow-up. Work with safety counterpart and site leadership to download the "CWalk" feedback and provide specific feedback on site safety improvements or concerns based on the information received.
+ **Communication** : Report out safety metrics to site leadership and regional safety managers. Attend Safety meetings to address safety issues that are impacting the customer.
**Basic Qualifications:**
+ Knowledge of complex conveyance, building, and automation systems with a focus on safe operation, repair, and proper Lock Out techniques.
+ A working knowledge of OSHA and DOT regulations
+ Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Project, with a focus on Excel-based data analysis.
+ Ability to work flexible schedules/shifts, ensuring each shift is being audited and engaged equally.
**Preferred Qualifications:**
+ Associates or higher degree from a vocational school or college with a focus on Mechanical or Electrical fields.
**Physical Demands:**
+ Must have the ability to reach overhead, kneel, squat, climb steps/ladders, use an aerial lift, and occasionally lift a maximum of 50 lbs. of equipment.
+ Ability to perform tasks wearing appropriate or required PPE, which may include but is not limited to a hard hat, face mask, face shield, and composite toe shoes.
+ Regularly required to crouch or bend and reach to perform effective inspections/observations and auditing activities.
+ Involves movement between departments, floors, and properties to facilitate work, averaging 6 to 12 miles per day.
+ Work in a warehouse environment with fluctuating temperatures.
+ Regularly required to type on a computer for 1-2 hours per day.
