GENERAL PURPOSE:
The Campus Health Clinic Assistant is responsible for assisting the School Nurse with daily health and compliance-related matters on the campus. With appropriate training and supervision, this position will perform basic first-aid measures, when applicable.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
The following duties ARE NOT intended to serve as a comprehensive list of all duties performed by all employees in this classification, only a representative summary of the primary duties and responsibilities. Incumbent(s) may not be required to perform all duties listed and may be required to perform additional, position-specific duties.
- As designated by school nursing personnel, assists self-directed students to take assigned medications that are kept in the school health office.
- Follows established school procedures for care and reporting of injuries and illness. Consults with school nursing personnel regarding unusual or difficult problems.
- Assists the school nurse in physical, visual, auditory and scoliosis screening examinations or other health screening tests of students and employees.
- Assists school nursing personnel with clerical tasks surrounding making referrals to parents resulting from screening procedures and physical examinations.
- Assists with immunization clinics by recording inoculations, preparing individuals and keeping order.
- Assists school nursing personnel in preparing health displays for the purpose of disseminating health and wellness information to students and staff.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
- High School Diploma or equivalent
- Ability to maintain confidentiality
GENERAL QUALIFICATIONS:
- Current certification in cardiopulmonary resuscitation and first aid, preferred
- Experience working in a School Health Setting, preferred but not required
PHYSICAL DEMANDS / WORK ENVIRONMENT:
- Exposure to bacteria and communicable diseases.
- Work with frequent interruptions.
- Repetitive motions and periods of prolonged standing.
- Prolonged use of computers.
- Possible pulling, pushing, and lifting of students when necessary.
- Maintain emotional control under stress in a fast paced environment.
**Note: Remote work is not available for this position.

JOB SUMMARY
Works under the supervision of a Director. Develops, implements, and oversees workplace health and safety programs to prevent injury and illness in employees. Helps ensure contracted companies have compliance with OSHA and other regulatory bodies. Coordinates with community partners to offer services provided in the clinic. Supervises employees who provide services including phlebotomy, biometrics, audiograms, and other screenings, as well as health coaching, clinic visits, and other services. Oversees daily clinic operations, ensuring financial stability and quality patient care while managing staff, implementing policies and ensuring compliance with healthcare regulations.
Directs the design and implementation of occupational medicine service offerings that support the needs of local businesses and workers. Maintains working relationships with local industries to ensure current issues are addressed and the needs of the working community are met. Analyzes occupation related costs and case data, reports trends and status to management. Develops programs, guidelines, and standards for occupational service delivery that support the organization’s overall strategy.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
- Provides support for employees while at the clinic and also while on location of services.
- Monitors productivity and provides feedback to employees and Director.
- Facilitates clinic growth.
- Communicates with companies to clarify requirements, resolve issues, and ensure great customer service.
- Maintains accurate and up-to-date records of contracts, invoices, finances.
- Involved in entire Human Resources process (hiring, discipline, coaching and feedback etc).
- Develops employee competencies and orientation. Provides training, education, and support to team members.
- May participate in direct customer care when necessary.
- Develops and reviews policies and procedures.
- Ensures regulatory compliance.
- Monitors customer satisfaction and quality indicators.
- Evaluates employee performance.
- Manages employee schedules and time keeping.
- Responsible for budget of clinic.
- Involved in clinic development and process improvements.
- Complies with the hospital’s Corporate Compliance Program including, but not limited to, the Code of Conduct, laws and regulations, and hospital policies and procedures.

The staff Registered Nurse (RN) is a professional caregiver who assumes responsibility for patients undergoing endoscopy procedures including prep, intra procedure and recovery phases for routine GI procedures of colonoscopy and upper endoscopy with opportunity to train for advanced and pulmonary teams. The RN will provide direct patient care, rotating through the phases, and deliver moderate sedation under direction of physician. Works collaboratively with other departments and unit staff to provide care to inpatient and outpatient populations and delegates to unlicensed personal as appropriate.

Performs all responsibilities and duties required by unit as specific to the scope of service. Implements procedures and theories related to the specific area of practice. Maintains up-to-date and accurate documentation of nursing care provided to assure the integration of information for use by the healthcare team.
Completes initial assessment upon patient admission and develops appropriate plan of care in accordance with unit standards and that is based on patient and family needs. Implements plan of care, nursing interventions, and patient care procedures. Modifies plan of care based upon continuous evaluation.
Takes responsibility for patient and employee safety by reporting and/or correcting safety hazards and incidents.
Communicates with others directly and in private when necessary to resolve issues. Offers constructive feedback to assist in the professional development of peers, and confers with colleagues to expand knowledge base. Identifies own learning needs and takes initiative to begin appropriate solution.
Fulfills all requirements of departmental competencies.
Prepares patient for procedure. Completes assessment, reviews health history, starts IV and provides education to patient.
Monitors and sedates patients during their procedure.
Cares for patients in both phase 1 and phase 2 recovery.
Assists the CRNA during cases requiring anesthesia involvement.
The overall role of the professional RN in Digestive Health is to define, direct, supervise and evaluate patient care directly and via delegation to others by using the nursing process.
