Job Description
Join our dedicated team as a Medical Assistant at our 1526 Walden Ave. location, where you will play a vital role in supporting our medical staff and enhancing patient care. Your expertise and compassion will help create a positive and efficient experience for our patients, ensuring the highest standards of service in a collaborative and dynamic environment. Candidates must have an interest in working with a diverse population of adults and children with mental health and/or substance abuse issues. The Medical Assistant provides direct care and behavioral health services. Assists with prescribers, clinical therapist, and telepsychiatry visits, as necessary, and helps coordinate client flow. This person is instrumental in assisting prescribers in clinical and insurance related areas.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
- Provides direct client care, documenting history, taking vital signs, chief complaint, clarification of current medication regimen, allergies, last visit, provider seen and documenting everything in the electronic medical record
- Provides clerical support; answering phones, taking messages, assisting with client forms
- Assists in maintaining accurate electronic health records
- Assists clients and prescribers in preparation for visits
- Responsible for scheduling telepsych program and coordinating with telepsych providers
- Assists in maintaining supply of behavioral health inventory and equipment
- Helps clients to get access to available services
- As needed, will room clients and conduct PHQ9 and GAD7, if appropriate
- Maintains working knowledge of insurance coverage specifications
Education and/or Experience
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Medical Assistant or CNA Certification
- Phlebotomy experience and/or certification preferred
- Previous medical/clinical experience
- Knowledge of medical chart reporting
- Must display excellent judgement, maturity and professionalism at all times
- Must be mission-focused and motivated to help, and possess an excellent attitude
- Excellent communication and customer service skills are required
- Must possess solid interpersonal skills and be an effective team player.
- Clean, valid NYS driver's license and daily access to a car, etc., is required
Salary is $16-$18/hour depending on education, credential and experience. **Job Description**
**Promotes patient flow in both the clinical and clerical areas to provide care appropriate to the patient's age. Perform tasks and responsibilities within the framework of medical information gathering, health teaching, health counseling and provision of supportive care under the direction of a registered professional nurse or licensed physician, dentist or other licensed health care provider legally authorized under this title and in accordance with NYS Department of Health regulations. Adheres to current Kaleida policies and standards of practice.**
**Education And Credentials**
Associates of Applied Science in Medical Office Assisting required. Certified Medical Assistant upon hire required. Certification/Registration required through American Association of Medical Assistants, American Medical Technologists, or National Center for Competency Testing. Once certified/registered through AAMA, AMT, NCCT, or NHA the employees may maintain their certification through the American Registry of Medical Assistants. Successful completion of the basic PC Skills assessment required.
**Experience**
**1 year of experience in a Medical Office Setting preferred.**

**Salary Range:** $23.76 -$30.08
