**Primary Responsibilities:**
+ Delivers high-quality patient care through face-to-face, telephone, and electronic contact for examination, treatment, monitoring, and preparation for diagnostic tests or procedures
+ Collects and documents patient information, including vital signs, chief complaints, reviews of medications, allergies, health risk screen information, the status of extended care benefits, and other services
+ Assists physicians and nursing personnel with injections, EKGs, phlebotomy, and other patient care procedures as directed
+ Coordinates patient care as directed by physicians, company standards, and policies
+ Assists with tasks, phone calls, and messages; document all actions
+ Proper, concise, and complete EMR documentation and paper-based documentation for all assessments and procedures
+ Prepares and cleans patient rooms and set up instruments and equipment according to protocol while maintaining infection control

**Required Qualifications:**
+ Completion of a Medical Assistant program
+ Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from AHA or willing to obtain by date of hire
+ 1+ years of experience working as a Medical Assistant
**Preferred Qualifications:**
+ Phlebotomy certification
+ Electronic Medical Records (EMR) experience
+ Bilingual English and Spanish
The hourly range for this role is $16.00 to $28.85 per hour based on full-time employment. Pay is based on several factors including but not limited to local labor markets, education, work experience, certifications, etc. UnitedHealth Group complies with all minimum wage laws as applicable. Under direct supervision and within an established scope of practice, assists the provider with examinations, treatments, and special procedures of patients as directed by San Ysidro Health policies and procedures in a medical office or clinic setting.

Performs routine patient care functions as prescribed by licensed health care providers following established clinical protocols and policies and procedures within defined scope of education, training, and responsibilities. Assists assigned physician(s) and/or other health care professional(s).
Clinical Duties:- Patient vital signs (blood pressure, temperature, pulse, weight, and respiration) Rooming intake, including questionnaire and medication reconciliation
- Prepares patients for examinations with proper caps, drapes, and supplies
- Cleans and sanitizes exam room after each patient
- Assists with minor procedures
- Collects specimens (blood, urine, etc.) and labeling appropriately
- Administers injections or medications after completion of 10 hours of medication management training
- Performs basic point of care test, EKGs, hearing and visual acuity
- Applies principles of aseptic technique and infection control as directed by the Infection Control policy and procedures
- Maintains exam room inventory and replenishes medical supplies and materials throughout the day as needed. Maintains inventory logs
- Participates and responds, when assigned to clinical emergency codes
- Autoclave: cleaning, processing, sterilizing, and checking of instruments and maintaining logs
- Documents pertinent patient information, procedures, and patient responses in patients' medical record, following established SYH guidelines and maintaining patient confidentiality
- Schedules and reschedules patient appointments

- Verifies insurance information
- Manages messages and relay results or important information to patient with written instruction from provider, following message management guidelines-staging and routing

- Practices customer service standards as defined by SYH and specified clinic

Education Required: High School diploma or GED preferred. Completion of a course of study consistent with the requirements for Medical Assistants as specified by the Medical Board of California.
Certifications Required: Current BLS for Healthcare Provider awarded by American Heart Association. NHA - Certified Clinical Medical Assistant (CCMA) and NHA- Certified Medical Administration Assistant Certification (CMAA).
Experience Required (Minimum level of experience): Completion of externship required by Medical Assisting Program. Minimum 1 year working as a medical assistant.
Verbal and Written Skills Required to Perform the Job: Bilingual in Spanish, Tagalog, or Arabic language preferred. Ability to read, write, and comprehend medical information and terminology. Ability to effectively present information, both verbal and written.
Technical Knowledge and Skills Required to Perform the Job: Demonstrated ability to use computer and Electronic medical records. Demonstrated ability to use wheelchair, EKG, gurney table, vital machine, pulse oximeter, autoclave.
Working Conditions and Physical Requirements: Continuous standing/walking/twisting. Occasionally lifts, pushes, and/or transfers patients. Exposed to unpleasant elements (accidents, injuries, and illness). Ability to work a varied, 40 hours per week schedule to include evenings and/or weekends, between the hours of 8 AM to PM. Reliable transportation necessary for occasional traveling to assist with providing coverage at SYH clinics within San Diego County.
Universal Requirements: Pre-employment requirements include I-9, physical, positive background and reference check results, complete application, new hire orientation, pre-employment PPDs. Compliance with all mandated vaccinations and all boosters is a term and condition of employment.

We are seeking a skilled and dedicated Medical Assistant (MA) to join our team. The MA will play a vital role in both clinical and administrative functions to ensure smooth operations and exceptional patient care. Clinical responsibilities include taking and recording vital signs and medical histories, preparing patients for examinations, drawing blood, and administering medications. Administrative tasks involve answering phone calls, registering patients, scheduling appointments, and managing payments. This is a dynamic role for someone passionate about providing compassionate care and efficient support in a healthcare setting.
Responsibilities:
- Interview patients to gather medical information and confirm the purpose of the visit.
- Prepare treatment rooms for patient examinations, ensuring they are stocked, neat, and clean.
- Show patients to examination rooms and prepare them for exams by performing preliminary physical tests (e.g., blood pressure, height, weight, temperature).
- Record patients' medical history, vital signs, and test results in the Electronic Health Record (EHR) system.
- Assist medical staff during exams and treatments, including handing instruments and performing tasks such as giving injections and removing sutures.
- Perform laboratory procedures, including urine analysis, cultures, immunizations, hemoglobin testing, lead levels, and EKGs.
- Collect and prepare blood, tissue, or other specimens for laboratory testing.
- Administer respiratory treatments, injections, and immunizations following protocols or standing orders.
- Sterilize instruments per guidelines and maintain accurate sterilization logs.
- Explain treatment procedures, medications, diets, and physicians' instructions to patients.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Graduate of an accredited Medical Assistant Program
- Knowledge of medical terminology, medical laboratory procedures and healthcare operations and work flow
- Bilingual in English and Spanish
- Medical Assistant Certificate (from an accredited school
- Current Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification for Healthcare Providers
- Associate's Degree in Healthcare related courses
- At least one (1) year of Medical Assistant experience strongly preferred
- Six (6) months of experience with documentation in an EHR system
- Phlebotomy training strongly preferred
- Pediatric experience strongly preferred
