JOB DESCRIPTION
The Healthcare Instructor provides instruction for CNA, Phlebotomy and EKG classes for the Multi-Skilled Technician course. Duties include planning lessons, monitoring skills and assessing student progress on an ongoing basis, collecting, recording and reporting all necessary information related to students in a timely manner. Helps keep up to date student records, files and gradebooks. Monday-Friday for a total of 40 hours per week.
ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Provide class starting Nov 2025.
- Attends 5-day in person orientation in Co, Ohio
- Flexibility with class times are available, days or evenings. We can work with your schedule.
- Teaches the EKG/Phlebotomy curriculum certified through MedCA, and CNA curriculum according to Ohio Dept of Health.
- May need to update curriculum to best practices, lesson plans, teaching materials to aid students in developing skills and confidence in healthcare areas.
- Integrates computer-aided instruction into lessons as appropriate.
- Teaches hands on skills in the healthcare courses.
- Attends Clinical sites with students and overseas for safety.
- Attends skills lab testing for safety of students and volunteers.
- Collects, records, and reports all necessary information related to students.
- Attends company-wide engagement and volunteer activities including outreach.
- Keeps up to date with professional development and CEU’s.
- Associate degree in nursing but bachelor’s degree in nursing preferred.
- Experience working with adult and High School learners preferred.
- CPR Certification and Bloodborne Pathogen certification
- Registered Nurse with active license for the state of Ohio
- Train the Trainer Certification active with the ODH- To be obtained within 6 months after hire

Job Responsibilities:

- Supervise and guide trainees in a modeled workplace environment which sets the expectations of professionalism in the workplace.
- Collaborate with other team members to develop curricula and syllabi, grade assignments, formulate individual work plans for trainees and make suggestions for improvements as appropriate.
- Participate in weekly unit team meetings with team members, action teams, monthly staff meetings, and individual trainee meetings as necessary, as well as other duties as assigned.

Centralia College is seeking an adjunct professor to teach in the Registered Nursing (RN) program. The program is designed to prepare men and women to provide nursing care in a variety of healthcare settings. In addition to preparing a student to obtain licensure and compete for employment as a RN, the AAS-T RN degree provides science and general education courses appropriate for students planning a future transfer directly into selected Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) programs.
Duties and ResponsibilitiesNursing faculty report to the Dean of Healthcare and Industrial Trades, but function under the direct supervision of the Director of Nursing.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
According to WAC , Nursing faculty shall be responsible for:
1. Developing, implementing, and evaluating the purpose and outcomes of the nursing education program.
2. Designing, implementing, and evaluating the curriculum.
3. Developing and evaluating nursing education policies as identified in
WAC (3) (a) through (e) within the framework of the policies of Centralia College.
4. Participating in or providing for academic advising and guidance of students.
5. Evaluating student achievement, in terms of curricular objectives as related to both nursing knowledge and practice, including preceptorship or mentored experiences.
6. Selecting, guiding, and evaluating student learning activities.
7. Participating in activities to improve their own nursing competency in area(s) of responsibility and to demonstrate current clinical competency.
8. Developing criteria for the selection and evaluation of clinical and practice experiences in clinical facilities or clinical practice settings, which address safety and the need for students to achieve the program outcomes and course objectives.

The Adjunct Instructor Pools are for applicants who are interested in teaching in the future as an (part-time) adjunct instructor for one of our departments. The Instructor Pools are always open for applications. However, this does not mean that we have an immediate opening in the division. Required SkillsMSN preferred, BSN may be considered for some positions. Minimum two years' professional experience in nursing, clinical instruction/teaching experience preferred. Prefer teaching experience at the college level. Demonstrated ability to work with all populations representing a wide range of abilities, ages, nationalities and cultures. Responsible for instruction and facilitating student learning; committed to student recruitment, retention and success; assessment of learning, development of curriculum and use of instructional delivery modes utilizing both traditional and non-traditional methodology.
- Teach assigned course which may include day, night, as well as at the main campus in Muskegon Michigan and extension centers, or clinical sites in West Michigan. Classes are to meet on time for the full allotted time.
- Establish and promote an effective learning environment that maximize documented student learning.
- Possess excellent communication skills including verbal and written.
- Ability to develop and deliver effective presentations.
- Prepare, submit and maintain reports related to student learning.
- Grading assignments in a meaningful way to promote continued student growth, returning graded assignments to students in a timely manner, and assigning final grades for all students, meeting or beating all institutional deadlines for completion.
- Provide educational assistance to students during regularly scheduled and posted times (i.e., office hours) or by appointment.
- Encourage student opinion survey completion for each class and then reviewed after summary information available to assist with increasing student success.
- Provide excellent customer service.
- Maintain levels of professional knowledge and expertise, including compliance training.
- Perform other duties as assigned.

Position Summary:
Function as unit educator, master teacher, master preceptor and facilitates evidenced-based research into specialized areas of nursing. Utilize the expertise of a practitioner to incorporate nursing processes into the plan of care for a specialized group of patients. Perform as a unit educator while maintaining clinical skills by performing as a clinical instructor for students from the CON on home unit and/or assisting in staffing on unit. Ensure adherence to Hospitals and departmental policies, procedures and guidelines. Patient care assignment may include neonate, pediatric, adolescent, adult and geriatric age groups.
Detailed responsibilities:
* LEAD - Provide educational leadership to enhance specialized patient care within clinical protocols
* INITIATE - Initiate unit-based strategies for developing clinical skills through the master clinician, master preceptor model
* PERFORM - Perform as a unit educator while maintaining clinical skills by performing as a clinical instructor for students from the CON on home unit and/or assisting in staffing on unit
* PLAN - Develop patient plans of care incorporating evidenced-based research and national standards
* CONSULTS - Consult with and serve as a clinical resource for the multidisciplinary team to ensure quality patient care
* EDUCATE - Educate appropriate staff in the use of new equipment, supplies, and instruments for their service; coordinates in-service training/workshops for appropriate staff
* ASSIST - Assist patient and caregivers with educational needs, problem solving, and health management aspects across the continuum of care
* COLLABORATE - Collaborate with the Clinical Educator as well as the Clinical Nurse Specialist, Specialty RN, or Unit Director to plan and implement pertinent curricula
* MONITOR - Monitor trends and implement educational strategies to ensure quality standards and parameters are achieved
* PATIENT CARE - Deliver safe direct care to an assigned group of patients, providing specialized patient care within nursing protocols and assisting the admission, transfer and discharge process performing all RN nursing duties
* DEVELOPMENT - Enhance professional growth and development through participation in educational programs, reading current literature, attending in-services, meetings and workshops
* PATIENT SAFETY 1 - Follow patient safety-related policies, procedures and protocols
* PATIENT SAFETY 2 - Demonstrate proactive approach to patient safety by seeking opportunities to improve patient safety through questioning of current policies and processes
