**POSITION PURPOSE**
Serves as Lead Coordinator providing guidance and support for Trinity Health Southeast Michigan Medical Staff Services (MSS), which includes Ann Arbor, Chelsea, Livingston, Livonia, and Oakland locations. Provides support to medical staff and administrative leadership, the organized medical staff, and medical staff committees pertaining to medical staff appointments, compliance, bylaws, rules and regulations, and policy interpretation. Responsible for the consistent application, effectiveness, and integrity of medical staff programs and processes, including the credentialing, privileging and peer review processes, through regular auditing and data analysis. Ensures coordination of crossover providers at TH SEMI facilities to maintain alignment and promote efficiency. Assist local MSS Managers with management of daily operations within assigned functional areas and ensures alignment with established priorities and consistent, timely completion of work assignments. Provides input into hiring decisions, as well as colleague performance planning and review sessions.
This position is an integral part of the MSS team and is responsible for leading the SEMI MSS team in a variety of tasks at the direction of MSS leadership in the efficient and effective completion of credentialing, privileging and peer review processes for Trinity Health Southeast Michigan RHMs. This role is responsible for ensuring compliance with credentialing policies, privileging requirements, and peer review processes and procedures; data base management and analytics; facilitation of state and accreditation surveys; and participating in development and implementation of process improvement initiatives related to medical staff processes.
**REQUIRED EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE AND** **CERTIFICATION/LICENSURE**
**Education:** Associate's degree in healthcare administration, business administration or similar degree OR equivalent. Bachelor's degree preferred.
**Experience:** A minimum of 3 years of healthcare administrative/office experience with a working knowledge of federal, state and TJC accreditation standards and general medical terminology required. Medical staff services, hospital credentialing and privileging, and peer review experience preferred. Demonstrated program management skills and experience with PDCA Cycles or Lean/Six Sigma preferred.
**Certification/Licensure:** None required. Certified Professional Medical Staff Management (CPMSM) or Certified Professional Credentialing Specialist (CPCS) preferred.
**ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES**
+ Accountable for the development, facilitation, monitoring and ongoing process improvement of the onboarding, credentialing, expirable, peer review (FPPE, OPPE), and other essential operations and processes.
+ Supervises, organizes, and coordinates the daily activities of the Medical Staff Services colleagues, in support of MSS leadership, including the direction and maintenance of a comprehensive and specialized credentialing program, to assure continued accreditation and deemed status.
+ Serves as a liaison between MSS leadership and internal and external stakeholders. Training may take place in a facility or a training clinic other than your assigned home clinic
Potential to float to various clinics during and after your training

What you can expect:
Direct Patient Care. Spend the majority of your day in direct one-on-one patient care to provide safe, comfortable and hygienic dialysis treatment.
Our PCTs care for multiple patients.
Technician Duties. To monitor patients before, during and after dialysis treatment including measuring and recording stats, patient observations, and hemodialysis machine setup. Please note you will have exposure to blood and needles.
Building long-term relationships with your patients who are suffering from end stage renal disease and are receiving treatment on average 3 times/week. You will also be responsible for educating patients on Kidney Dialysis related topics.
Team. Cross functional team of clinicians including technicians, nurses, dietitians, social workers and leadership. PCTs work under the supervision of a RN.

PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
As a member of the nephrology healthcare team, you will provide safe and effective dialysis therapy for patients under the direct supervision of a licensed nurse.
- Sets up, tests, and operates hemodialysis machines for patient treatments.
- Obtains and documents necessary pre- and post-treatment vital signs and weight for each patient.
- Evaluates vascular access pre-treatment and performs vascular access cannulation.
- Evaluates intradialytic problems and provides intervention as prescribed by physician order or as directed.
- Monitors patients’ response to dialysis therapy.
- Evaluates patient prior to termination of venous access and discontinues dialysis treatment according to established procedures.
- Reports any significant information and/or change in patient condition directly to supervisor.
- Enters all treatment data into the designated clinical application in an accurate and timely manner.
- Collects, labels, appropriately prepares, and stores lab samples according to required laboratory specifications.
- Cleans and disinfects dialysis machine surface, chair, equipment, and surrounding area between treatments according to facility policy.
- Assists other healthcare members in providing patient education.
- Prepares, organizes, and efficiently uses supplies and equipment to prevent waste.
EDUCATION AND LICENSES :
- High school diploma or G.E.D. required.
EXPERIENCE AND REQUIRED SKILLS :
- Qualities and traits: dependable, compassionate, caring, supportive, collaborative, reliable.
- Previous patient care experience in a hospital setting or a related facility (preferred but not required).
- Continued employment is dependent on successful completion of the Fresenius Medical Care dialysis training program and successful completion of CPR certification.

- Day-to-day work includes desk and personal computer work and interaction with patients, facility staff, and physicians. The position requires travel between assigned facilities and various locations within the community. Travel to regional, business unit and corporate meetings may be required.
- The work environment is characteristic of a healthcare facility with air temperature control and moderate noise levels. May be exposed to infectious and contagious diseases/materials.
- The position provides direct patient care that regularly involves heavy lifting and moving of patients and assisting with ambulation. Equipment aids and/or coworkers may provide assistance. This position requires frequent, prolonged periods of standing and the employee must be able to bend over. The employee may occasionally be required to push and/or pull equipment, exerting up to 15 pounds of force. The employee may be required to lift and to lower solutions on a frequent basis of up to 30 lbs., and on an occasional basis lift up to 40 lbs., as high as 5 feet. There is a 2-person assist program and "material assist” devices for the heavier items.

Assist with the examination and treatment of patients under the direction of a physician.
Assist with treatments ordered by physician as supervised by physician or registered nurse.
Perform select clinical duties. - Interview patients, measure vital signs, and record information on patients' charts. Prepare treatment rooms for examination of patients.
Perform basic clerical duties including answering the phone, maintaining records, and filing.
Perform basic materials management functions to include ordering and stocking of supplies.
List all proper diagnoses and symptoms, as well as follow-up instructions and prescriptions, as indicated by the provider.
Transcribe patient orders including, but not limited to, laboratory tests, radiology tests and medications.
BLS Provider obtained within 1 Month (30 days) of hire date or job transfer date required. American Heart Association OR American Red Cross accepted.
Medical Assistant obtained within 3 Months (90 days) of hire date or job transfer date required. Any issuing authority accepted.
High School diploma equivalency OR 1 year of applicable cumulative job specific experience required.
