Responsible for planning, organizing, developing, and directing, the operations of the Biomedical Engineering Department. Supervises the activities of the Biomedical Engineering Program through a subordinate supervisor. Also performs complex installations, repairs, calibrations and periodic/preventive maintenance and documentation of biomedical equipment. Supervises assigned staff.
Essential Responsibilities:
+ Plans, organizes, coordinates, and controls the overall operations of the Biomedical Engineering Program.
+ Develops and implements departmental policies and procedures, and ensures adherence of staff to established policies and procedures.
+ Plans and coordinates work assignments within the department.
+ Provides technical knowledge, skills and guidance to staff on all aspects of imaging, laboratory, surgical, clinical and other electronic equipment.
+ Coordinates the installation of medical equipment with various manufacturers, contractors, engineers, and architects and MMMC departments/personnel.
+ Manages and provides recommendations on service contracts.
+ Makes recommendations and assists in the preparation of capital equipment, personnel, expense and operating budgets.
+ Plans and projects needs for future personnel, training, test equipment, parts/back up equipment, and general assets.
Basic Qualifications:
Experience
+ Minimum six (6) years of experience showing that the applicant has gained a thorough knowledge of installation, repair, calibration, periodic maintenance and documentation of Type A (Clinical) and/or Type B (Imaging) equipment in the biomedical field in an acute care hospital setting.
+ Two (2) years shall have been as a fully competent worker in either Type A (Clinical) or Type B (Imaging) biomedical engineering experience.
+ Minimum two (2) years of Biomedical Engineering Technician Supervisor experience.
Education
+ High School Diploma.
+ Certificate of completion from a vocational school in the field of electronics, biomedical electronics or electronic technology OR an Associate of Science degree in electronics, electronic engineering, biomedical electronics or electronics technology from an accredited institution.
License, Certification, Registration
+ Driver's License (Hawaii)
Additional Requirements:
+ Knowledge of the overall requirements for effectively providing a wide range of biomedical services, including biomedical engineering principles and standard methods and techniques; operations and repair of biomedical equipment; electronic principles and theories; functions of different types of clinical and imaging equipment in a hospital; principles and practices of supervision; regulatory and accrediting standards.
+ Ability to plan, coordinate, develop and direct the wide range of biomedical services and work with other hospital personnel in effectively providing these services.
+ Communicate effective orally and in writing; and prepare reports.

- Help to develop, drive and implement new strategies for success for the department in the areas of all clinical operations systems.
- Through observation and diagnosis of customer inquiries, provide guidance for how to effectively navigate the system to customers.
- Collaborate with other cross functional teams, developing shared best practices and communication channels, and then dispersing relevant information to the student facing teams.
- Provide daily support to the clinical operations teams in all aspects of the business operations systems; daily management and analysis of system issues.
- Assists with other projects as delegated by management.
- Work on cross-functional projects as a key supporter and extended consultant with ongoing changes and development.
- Assist with collection of data, entry of data, creation of reports,analysis of reports, and other business admin system administration duties.
- Performs other duties as assigned
- Complies with all policies and standards
- Bachelor's Degree Required
- 4+ years Minimum four years' experience in customer service or related educational field required
- 4+ years Minimum four years' experience in the development and life cycle of new user system projects, reporting, and data entry required
- Strong Microsoft Office, Sharepoint and Internet Applications experience.
- Excellent organizational, communication, project management skills.
- Ability to thrive in a fast paced, constantly changing environment.
- Ability to effectively lead and manage concurrent projects to meet development and implementation deadlines.
- Ability to work effectively with internal and external clients to negotiate solutions that meet organizational objectives.
- Work well with internal and external customers.
- Willing and able to travel to different site locations.

In support of the pay transparency laws enacted across the country, the expected salary range for this position is between $18.70 and $28.00. Actual pay will be adjusted based on job-related factors permitted by law, such as experience and training; geographic location; licensure and certifications; market factors; departmental budgets; and responsibility. The Coordinator will assist with the overall operational objectives of the Campus Operations team. A primary responsibility involves data entry for and system administrative support that focus on a more efficient and enhanced service level to the student and fellow employees. The expected outcome is a positive student and employee experience.
