Your Job:
The Hearing Aid Specialists will meet with patients to learn about their complaints and symptoms, then conduct several tests to measure auditory functions. You will perform diagnostic procedures which include bone and air conduction tests, as well as a speech audiometry test. Several screening methods are also employed. They include an examination of the ear canal, which entails the use of an otoscope. You will continue to work with patients after they have received assistive listening devices, providing instruction in the use and maintenance of the devices.
Your Job Requirements:
- Graduation from an accredited program for hearing instrument specialist
- Valid State License to dispense hearing aids
- Expertise in Cochlear Implants, Hearing aids and FM systems preferred
- Knowledge of Sign Language
- Texas State License

As a support to the A&G Fair Hearing team, the A&G Fair Hearing Specialist serves a liaison between the Plan, OTDA, IAHO, members, and delegated vendors to effectively coordinate telephonic and in-person fair hearings. The position requires excellent communication, time management, and organizational skills to facilitate the timely gathering of documentation, communication between responsible parties, scheduling of fair hearings, documentation of fair hearing status and outcomes, and management calendars.

Responsibilities:
  • Act as a liaison to provide timely responses and coordination for external reviews including, NYS Fair Hearing, and NYS DFS External Appeal, Maximum Federal, QIO, IAHO, and Fair Hearing.
  • Receives and processes Fair Hearing requests/documentation.
  • Maintains accurate case tracking and outcome data for all Fair Hearing cases through timely entry into the appeals & grievance software system.
  • Accurate and timely data entry support as defined by departmental workflows.
  • Identify, triage, categorize and route all documents that are received by the Appeals & Grievances Department.
  • Processes AOR and WOL requests in accordance with SDOH and CMS regulations.
  • Participates in scheduled team meetings.
Qualifications:
  • High School Diploma required Bachelor; Associate degree preferred.
  • Two-year prior managed care experience required; Prior experience in a health care setting preferred.
  • Familiarity with appeals and/or fair hearings.

+ Reviews upcoming hearings and prepares necessary documentation to represent clients' interests; supports legal counsel in regard to hearings; appears before the judicial body on behalf of clients.
+ Reviews state files to update company files accordingly.
+ Performs lien negotiations.
+ Develops and maintains departmental technical training materials.
+ Trains and monitors progress of new departmental colleagues; trains existing departmental colleagues on procedural and system changes.
+ Provides training for colleagues in other departments as required.
+ Assists in development and maintenance of departmental policies and procedures.
+ Completes special projects as required.
**ADDITIONAL FUNCTIONS and RESPONSIBILITIES**
+ Primary role to perform as Medical Lien Negotiator on behalf of the Lien Resolution Unit
+ Handle all aspects of research, file review, and negotiation of outstanding medical lien
+ Prepare lien settlements
+ Must be experienced with Worker's Compensation Labor Codes, WCAB Court procedures, and setting
+ Timely resolution and follow up on pending files
+ Must be organized and detail oriented with ability to adapt fast pace environment
+ Must have excellent computer skills and ability to trouble shoot technical issues in Work From Home environment
+ Supports the organization's quality program(s).

**QUALIFICATIONS**
**Education & Licensing**
Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university preferred.

Five (5) years of experience in workers' compensation field in a high client-contact position or equivalent combination of education and experience required.

Role Summary

In this role, youll conduct hearing evaluations, fit and dispense hearing aids, provide ongoing care, and support patients throughout their hearing journey. Youll help connect patients with solutions tailored to their lifestyle, supporting our mission of enhancing lives through accessible, personalized hearing healthcare.

Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct comprehensive hearing evaluations: visual ear exams, tone tests, speech audiometry, and generate audiograms
  • Recommend appropriate hearing aid styles and technologies based on patient history, lifestyle, and communication goals
  • Present a range of hearing aid options from basic to AI-powered Bluetooth-enabled devices with wellness tracking
  • Perform live or demo fittings when possible and manage 60-day trial periods
  • Provide ongoing care, including cleanings, adjustments, in-house repairs, and manufacturer coordination when needed
  • Maintain detailed, accurate patient records and documentation of fittings, counseling, and follow-ups
  • Travel between clinics across Northern Minnesota and Northwest Wisconsin to serve patients closer to home
  • Stay current with hearing aid technologies, best practices, and industry developments

Qualifications

  • Active Minnesota or Wisconsin Hearing Instrument Specialist license OR Audiology degree (required)
