+ Prepares radio-pharmaceuticals for patient use, administers radio-pharmaceuticals to patients and performs nuclear medicine procedures.
+ Operates nuclear medicine computers to enhance the diagnostic value of information obtained from nuclear medicine procedures.
+ Follows internal protocols when processing computer studies to achieve high quality films by choice of filters, slice selection, display parameters, image intensity and labeling techniques.
+ Maintains records and logs as required by department protocols and licensure requirements. Logs patient dose administered, progress notes and other pertinent data.
+ Schedules patients for nuclear medicine examinations and questions patients and/or review patient charts for facts of patient history which are pertinent to interpretation of nuclear medicine examinations by the radiologist.
+ Prepares, measures, and administers radiopharmaceuticals under direction of physician. Administers and records isotope dosages in accordance with established departmental protocol.
+ Observes patients during procedures and reports any abnormal activity.
+ Collects, prepares, and analyzes biologic specimens and prepares data for interpretation.

**Responsibilities:**
The Physician Support Specialist provides support to the Heart Failure Department. Responsible for using independent judgement and initiative, performs routine and non-routine clerical duties and supports of onsite and regional activities of a team of physicians, APP's and RN's. Completes the task of appointment scheduling, eRecord task management, In Basket management and Telephone Encounter management using the electronic medical record and patient access. + Receives minimal direction from physician, mid-level providers, department head and/or administrative officer. Is responsible for independently planning, executing and evaluating own work.
**RESPONSIBILITIES:**
+ Telephone Management: Assess and triage incoming calls in a timely and courteous manner. Gather pertinent medical information at the time of call from patient, referring physician and/or other health care professionals. Evaluate urgency of response and communicate messages using established protocols to allow collection of accurate and complete medical information, while maintaining patient confidentiality issues.
+ Scheduling Management: Identify appropriate scheduling protocol for Advance Heart Failure patients, establishing a sequence of appointments and coordination of multidisciplinary resources (cardiology, nursing, dietitians, finance resources, echocardiology, social workers and /or surgeons.) As well as room utilization, ancillary tests, laboratory studies and required testing equipment. Facilitate hospital admissions, scheduling of procedures, coordinate overnight accommodation and transportation arrangements.
+ Data Management: Maintain responsibility for own Electronic Medical Record (EMR) in basket as well as the in baskets for any pools assigned. Possesses the knowledge, skills, and abilities to support the Medical Records department as needed. Entry and management of data in specialized database. Documentation of patient care to ensure full compliance with regulatory agencies. Ensure databases reflect current status, demographics and on-going evaluation actions. Document each patient encounter (phone call, ancillary test/lab results, inpatient or outpatient clinical evaluation, medications, infection management) to maximize patient care and ensure full compliance with regulatory agencies.
+ Correspondence: Act as liaison for contacts to local and regional physicians to facilitate securing of new referrals. Scheduling time commitments and coordinating with patient schedules. Compose routine and non-routine correspondence, and materials for educational and professional activities as needed. Job Description
Position Summary The Marshall University Joan C. Edwards School of Medicine's Department of Cardiovascular Services is seeking a board-certified/board-eligible Advanced Heart Failure Cardiologist to join our growing faculty. The ideal candidate will bring expertise in the diagnosis and management of complex heart failure, including pre- and post-transplant care, mechanical circulatory support, and advanced therapies.
This role is part of a dynamic and expanding academic cardiology program in a collegial, team-based environment. Faculty physicians enjoy access to state-of-the-art facilities and strong institutional support for both clinical and academic growth. This position does not involve transplant or LVAD implantation, as these services are referred to external centers. This appointment is open at the Assistant or Associate Professor level on a clinical track, depending on the candidate's qualifications and interests.
Responsibilities
- Provide comprehensive care for patients with advanced heart failure, including those requiring mechanical circulatory support or transplant evaluation.
- Participate in the development and advancement of the Advanced Heart Failure program, working closely with multidisciplinary teams.
- Serve as attending physician at one primary site, with coverage rotating among two hospitals and satellite clinics.
- Participate in inpatient rounding every 6th weekend, with support from cardiology fellows (no year-round call requirement).
- Teach and mentor general cardiology fellows, residents, and medical students in both formal and informal settings.
- Engage in scholarly activity including quality improvement initiatives, clinical research, and collaboration with Marshall's translational and biomedical sciences programs.

**Essential Functions**
+ Schedules patient appointments for consultations, tests, procedures, and follow-ups, ensuring proper allocation of time and resources.
+ Notifies patients of appointment confirmations, cancellations, or reschedules, and provide necessary information and instructions.
+ Accurately enters patient information, appointment details, and updates into the hospital's electronic medical records (EMR) or scheduling system.

+ Offers alternative scheduling options when needed to accommodate patient preferences and medical needs.
+ Communicates with physicians, nurses, and other medical professionals to ensure appointments are properly scheduled based on clinical priorities and patient needs.

**Qualifications**
