Mechanical Estimator
We are seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Mechanical Estimator with a strong background in healthcare construction, specifically projects subject to AHCA (Agency for Health Care Administration) review and compliance. The successful candidate will be responsible for preparing accurate, competitive estimates for commercial mechanical systems (HVAC, piping, and ductwork) for healthcare and hospital projects up to $3M. This role requires both technical proficiency and hands-on knowledge of healthcare-specific codes, construction practices, and regulatory processes.
Key Responsibilities:
- Analyze bid documents (drawings, specifications, site conditions) to develop accurate mechanical scopes of work, including all related general conditions.
- Provide alternate system options based on engineering constraints, site conditions, material availability, and cost efficiency.
- Ensure compliance with AHCA requirements, NFPA codes, ASHRAE standards, and other healthcare-specific regulations.
- Identify scope risks and ensure appropriate contingencies and allowances are included in all estimates.
- Obtain and thoroughly review subcontractor and supplier proposals to ensure scope compliance and competitive pricing.
- Prepare and manage RFIs and change order requests as needed during the bid and preconstruction phases.

Required Qualifications:
- 5+ years of experience estimating commercial mechanical systems, including HVAC, plumbing, and ductwork.
- 5+ years of field experience as a journeyman or foreman in mechanical trades.
- Direct experience estimating mechanical scopes for hospital or healthcare facility projects is required.
- Thorough knowledge of AHCA regulations and the healthcare construction approval process.
- Familiarity with healthcare facility codes and guidelines (e.g., NFPA, ASHRAE, FGI).
- Proficiency with estimating software such as Accubid/LiveCount, or similar.

RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Attends job site walkthroughs and pre-bid meetings.
- Provides detailed take-offs.
- Solicit subcontractors and vendors for quotes on proposals
- Review data to determine material and labor requirements and prepare itemized lists.
- Compute cost factors and prepare estimates used for management purposes such as planning, organizing, and scheduling work; preparing bids; selecting vendors or subcontractors; and determining cost effectiveness.
- Conducts special studies to develop and establish standard hour and related cost data or effect cost reductions.
- Consults with clients, vendors, or other individuals to discuss and formulate estimates and resolve issues.
- Interfaces with other individuals in the organization to obtain support and commitment to the cost estimates.
- Contributes to a centralized cost estimating database and a formal process to support cost estimating to ensure historical data is utilized.
- Analyzes completed projects to compare estimated cost to actual cost and determine the reason for any discrepancies.
- Provide improvement recommendations to cost estimating procedures to reduce future discrepancies between estimated and actual costs.
- Identifies cost trends to assist management in cost reduction and process improvement efforts.
- Thoroughly reads and understands RFPs and RFQs for preparation of proposals.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor's degree or one to two years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Ability to read and interpret drawings and specifications to the level required for the position applied
- Strong understanding in mechanical systems
- Proficient in Quick Pen Estimating Software
- Proficient in Office 365
- Familiarity with HVAC piping and NFPA codes
- Valid Drivers License

Mechanical Estimator
We are seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Mechanical Estimator with a strong background in healthcare construction, specifically projects subject to AHCA (Agency for Health Care Administration) review and compliance. The successful candidate will be responsible for preparing accurate, competitive estimates for commercial mechanical systems (HVAC, piping, and ductwork) for healthcare and hospital projects up to $3M. This role requires both technical proficiency and hands-on knowledge of healthcare-specific codes, construction practices, and regulatory processes.
Key Responsibilities:
- Analyze bid documents (drawings, specifications, site conditions) to develop accurate mechanical scopes of work, including all related general conditions.
- Provide alternate system options based on engineering constraints, site conditions, material availability, and cost efficiency.
- Ensure compliance with AHCA requirements, NFPA codes, ASHRAE standards, and other healthcare-specific regulations.
- Identify scope risks and ensure appropriate contingencies and allowances are included in all estimates.
- Obtain and thoroughly review subcontractor and supplier proposals to ensure scope compliance and competitive pricing.
- Prepare and manage RFIs and change order requests as needed during the bid and preconstruction phases.
- Develop detailed and accurate submittal packages in alignment with healthcare facility standards and AHCA compliance.
- Collaborate with Project Managers to coordinate all pre-construction requirements and ensure project alignment on budget and scope.
- Maintain strong vendor/supplier relationships to secure competitive pricing and lead times.
- Support additional estimating tasks or company initiatives as assigned.
Required Qualifications:
- 5+ years of experience estimating commercial mechanical systems, including HVAC, plumbing, and ductwork.
- 5+ years of field experience as a journeyman or foreman in mechanical trades.
- Direct experience estimating mechanical scopes for hospital or healthcare facility projects is required.
- Thorough knowledge of AHCA regulations and the healthcare construction approval process.
- Familiarity with healthcare facility codes and guidelines (e.g., NFPA, ASHRAE, FGI).
- Proficiency with estimating software such as Accubid/LiveCount, or similar.
- Experience with bid collaboration tools (e.g., Bid Board) and digital plan takeoff platforms.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to interact professionally with engineers, architects, and healthcare facility representatives.
- Excellent time management and multitasking skills.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, including Excel and Word.
- Ability to read, interpret, and analyze mechanical plans, specifications, and construction documents.
