The Medium Voltage Electrician/Terminator will be responsible for installing, testing, repairing, and maintaining medium/high voltage electric power cables and equipment. They will also have the opportunity to learn electrical testing and high voltage maintenance.
Responsibilities
- Perform terminations for cabling and repairs on medium/high (5kV and up) voltage electrical distribution systems, including those in collection systems, data centers, and permanent facilities.
- Perform cable splicing of medium voltage lines.

Reporting functionally to the High Voltage Manager, you will be a part of Innergex's US Operations department and will support operation and maintenance of the High Voltage Balance of Plant equipment at various operating wind, solar, hydroelectric, and battery storage projects across the US.
Your day-to-day!
- Support all operations and maintenance activities for Balance of Plant (BoP) assets;
- Ensure that BOP maintenance is conducted in accordance with NERC and industry standards;
- Perform switching and grounding of HV equipment for circuit breakers, disconnect switches, power transformers and all related components;

In the spirit of pay transparency we are excited to share the base salary for the position is $36.00/hour to 40.00/hour, exclusive of fringe benefits or potential bonuses. Job Description
Performs a full range of work involved in the installation, maintenance, repair, modification, and testing of primary and secondary electrical distribution systems. Performs maintenance inspections to determine safety hazards, damage, and repair requirements. Must be able to work safely with 13,200 volts of electricity.
Plans, installs, modifies, tests, maintains and repairs a variety of fixtures, hardware and equipment including transformers, generators, convertors, fuses, conductors, switches, conduit, controllers, etc. Must be trained in installing hi-voltage terminations, including transformer elbows, stress cones and splices.
Requirements:
Must have a minimum of five years journeyman-level experience and have completed a formal apprenticeship or equivalent formal vocational/technical training program on industrial electrical systems and demonstrate proficiency and expertise in the field. Must be capable of working safely on all high voltage systems, both above ground and underground. Each complete year of accredited college education in a related field may be substituted for the equivalent number of years of required experience. Must have the ability to effectively read, write, and speak the English language. Must possess a class B CDL and be able to pass drug screen.
Must have experience with High Voltage systems.
Rate of Pay: $29.48 per hour + $4.93 fringe per hour worked, plus 11 paid holidays, 56 hours accrued sick leave
Shift: Monday-Friday 7:30am-4:00pm

Key Responsibilities
- Operate and maintain medium voltage (1kV-35kV) systems and, where applicable, 69kV Navy systems.
- Inspect, repair, and test a wide range of electrical components including underground cable systems, switches (oil, SF6, air), transformers, ground grid systems, and fuses.
- Troubleshoot electrical issues using specialized tools: multimeters, meggers, ammeters, cable locators, fault finders, high-potential test equipment, etc.
- Read and interpret blueprints, wiring diagrams, engineering drawings, and technical manuals.
- Follow all safety protocols including Lockout/Tagout (LOTO), NFPA 70E standards, and PPE requirements. No live (hot) work is permitted without prior written authorization.
- Respond to electrical service calls and emergencies, ensuring systems remain operational.
- Maintain and repair airfield lighting systems, including runway and taxiway lights, beacons, current regulators, optical landing systems, and control systems.
- Pull and install underground cables, splice and terminate cables using appropriate kits and sealing methods.
- Inspect and maintain transformers and perform oil sampling for analysis.
- Operate commercial vehicles (Class B CDL required), bucket trucks, and pole auger trucks.
- Perform ground testing, vault inspections, manhole maintenance, and bonding repairs.
- Review and verify contractor work complies with NEC, OSHA, and Navy contract specifications.
- Maintain street lighting systems and traffic signal controls.
- Journeyman Electrician License with specialization in high voltage systems (Union recognized).
- Minimum of 5 years' experience in high/medium voltage electrical work.
- Proven knowledge of:
- Electrical theory, circuit analysis, and system operations
- Industrial electrical installation and troubleshooting
- Cable splicing, jointing, and insulation methods
- Safe work practices around energized systems and confined spaces
- Proficient in using hand and power tools (e.g., pliers, screwdrivers, soldering tools, hydraulic benders).
- Ability to interpret and work from technical documentation.
- Valid Class B Commercial Driver's License (CDL) .
- Completion of the OSHA 10-Hour Construction Training Course within 45 days of employment (or current certification).
- Ability to work in environments exposed to high temperatures, noise, rotating machinery, soot, chemicals, oil, and fumes.
- Physically capable of standing, walking, climbing, bending, and crouching for extended periods.
- Must be able to lift and carry equipment up to 40 lbs independently, and over 40 lbs with assistance.
