Position Summary :

This sales position is responsible for the recruitment and retention of qualified online students through the demonstrated use of consultative needs based selling in a call center environment. The Admissions Advisor is responsible for building long-term relationships both internally and externally with the specific intent of improving lead conversion, increasing enrollment, and maintaining desired retention rates.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities :

  1. Goals : Meet and maintain conversion metrics dictated by projected budgetary enrollment.
  2. Sales-Driven Interview : Interview and enroll qualified students through phone, email, chat, and other electronic communication methods. Use effective probing to determine needs and deliver a value-based enrollment experience. Manage the enrollment process for each student ensuring admissions requirements are met, all proper paperwork is completed, and all deadlines are met for each term/start. Effectively communicate the admissions process to students.
  3. Financial Aid Partnership : Facilitate interdepartmental communications with Financial Aid. Successfully collaborate with FA Partner to ensure coordination of all enrollment activities and maintain a positive student experience through meetings and electronic CRM communications.
  4. Referral, Retention & Relationship Building: Provide excellent customer service and support services to the student to help increase campus retention and graduation rates. Demonstrate consistent and effective follow up. Contact potential students designated as Leadbank and Rollover. Secure referrals and generate leads from all internal and external sources (alumni, students, etc.).
  5. Documentation : Prepare/maintain accurate records and ensure proper documentation in the CRM database. Complete all paperwork in a timely manner.

Qualifications :

  • Associate’s Degree is required
  • 1-2 years previous sales experience
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office and the Internet
  • Strong phone skills

Preferred qualifications :

  • Bachelor’s degree preferred
  • Previous call center experience

Physical Demands and Work Environment :

Position requires standing or sitting in a stationary position as well as the occasional need to lift, carry, push, and/or move objects up to 10 pounds.

Position requires the use of computer technology/equipment.

Position requires the ability to hear conversations and receive information in person and over the telephone.

Position requires the ability to convey detailed and important instructions or ideas accurately, loudly, or quickly.

Starting Salary: $46,000 per year ($22.12 per hour).

This role is eligible for overtime.

Founded in 1971 in Long Island City, Queens **,** LaGuardia Community College is one of seven community colleges of the City University of New York (CUNY). Student Advising Services is a dynamic department that provides centralized and integrated academic support to incoming and current undergraduate students through the clarification and navigation of degree requirements in order to foster timely and successful completion of their degree. Advising teams continually guide students through curricula and program requirements while exploring educational and career aspirations.
Reporting to the Assistant Director for New Student Advising, the Academic Advisor will be responsible for, but not limited to, the following:
+ Provide individualized, appropriate academic advising to new students;
+ Assist students in selecting appropriate courses based on degree requirements, career goals, transfer plans, placement scores, and academic standing;
+ Maintain accurate records of student interactions and academic progress;
+ Assist students with understanding their Degree Audit, Navigate, Schedule Builder and CUNY First in preparation for advising and registration;

+ Provide academic advising to individual or small groups of students;
+ Assist with the development of marketing materials for various group workshops to support student success;

Description

The Student Recruiter/Advisor is responsible for coordinating and executing student recruitment efforts for the admission of students to college programs. This position plays a key role in attracting and supporting prospective and current students through proactive outreach, individualized advising and guiding students from application to enrollment and beyond. Typical Qualifications

PURPOSE

The Student Financial Advisor is responsible for the administration and coordination of Federal, State, and Institutional Aid Programs and the management and services of the School’s Financial Aid Office. The individual in this role will assess the financial needs of students and advises on financial aid options, processes, and requirements. The Student Financial Advisor is accountable for ensuring prospective and continuing students have all the tools and information they need to successfully complete the financial aid process. The Student Financial Advisor plays a significant role in supporting the mission and goals of the school. The individual in this role will actively engage with prospective and continuing students by creating a friendly and positive environment in a virtual financial aid process.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Provide guidance and instructions to students and parents (if applicable) for requesting an FSA ID and completing the online FAFSA application
  • Gives students an estimated financial plan and budgeting guidance
  • Ability to package prospective students in a timely and independent manner
  • Educate, support and manage the financial aid process for students
  • Evaluates students' academic progress to ensure students stay eligible for their financial aid program(s)

EDUCATION/QUALIFICATIONS/COMPETENCIES

  • Minimum of two years previous experience in a Private Post Secondary Financial Aid position
  • Knowledge and understanding of Federal and State regulations pertaining to Title IV Funding
  • Strong technical skills including computer applications/programs, internet research, database management, and analytical skills
  • Ability to prioritize, multi-task, perform well under pressure, and meet deadlines

Job Description

The TRIO/Student Support Services (SSS) Academic Advisor provides comprehensive advising, financial literacy, and academic support services to Augsburg University students who participate in the TRIO/SSS program. This position assists TRIO/SSS participants in their persistence, academic performance, and timely graduation from the University, enhances existing and develop new programming designed to improve the academic counseling experience for participants in TRIO/SSS, and collaborates with on-and off-campus departments to provide complementary student services.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Academic advising and course selection: Advise and monitor students regarding course selection and planning, major and graduation requirements, 4-year planning, graduation advising.
  • Financial aid counseling and financial literacy advising:  Advise students regarding financial aid award and renewal, and advise about federal, state, institutional, and other sources of financial aid. Instruct on personal budget planning, student account management and other financial literacy topics, monitor and advise on scholarship applications and completion of requirements.
  • Academic counseling: Coach students in academic skills and time management techniques through weekly meetings during students’ first term in SSS; monitor academic progress, respond to academic feedback reports and alerts from instructors; provide specialized probation advising and specialized advising for program participants admitted to the University conditionally; assist students in setting and achieving academic goals.
  • Personal and career counseling: Instruct students in life and career skills, assist with major decision-making strategies, intervene in minor crises and screen for appropriate referrals, counsel on a variety of issues including family issues, college transition adjustment, college completion, personal development. Guide students to appropriate self-advocacy personally and academically.
  • Advocacy: Advocate on behalf of students with faculty and staff, coach students to self-advocate.
  • Summer Bridge: Design and lead supplemental instruction sessions for the Summer Bridge course June-August. Assist in planning and day-to-day operations of the 5-week academic residential program. Design and lead several program activities. Direct service to and implementation of advising programming for students participating in voluntary academic support program in order to meet eligibility and administrative requirements of the federal grant.

Additional Responsibilities

  • Specialized workshops and academic enrichment activities: Design, present, and evaluate 6-8 student academic support workshops per year, often in collaboration with on- and off-campus community partners; plan and accompany student participants on academic enrichment and leadership activity events 2-4 times per year.
  • Project planning and maintenance: Maintain program website, social networking sites and/or program newsletter to support necessary advertisement and communication of program activities. Plan, prepare, and implement retention initiatives to meet TRIO/SSS mission and objectives. Maintain partnerships with workshop co-sponsors, create new programming as needed.
  • Collaborative and ongoing training activities: Participate in at least one college committee, cross-departmental training, or discussion group per academic year; consult, collaborate and advise on programming and student issues with campus departments (faculty, Student Financial Services, Admissions, Disability Services, Counseling, Career Services, Student Initiatives, etc.)
  • Professional development activities, program assessment, case notes on database and in student files, other documentation for federal grant support.
  • All other duties as apparent or assigned by supervisor(s).
