Position Summary: Responsible for engineering design using knowledge of general engineering principles and practices to interpret, organize, execute and coordinate assignments. This position is not eligible for employer-based sponsorship with the exception of the TN visa classification.
Essential Functions and Responsibilities
- Perform alternative studies
- Analyze survey reports, maps, drawings, blueprints, aerial photography and other topographical or geologic data to plan projects
- Perform design computations
- Design projects in accordance with client specifications and guidelines, using design software and drawing tools
- Develop construction cost estimates
- Assist in the preparation of engineering documents for advertisement and construction
- Coordinate with internal team members to ensure project completion by the defined deadline and established quality

Working Conditions
Work is performed within a general office environment 95% of the time. Work is generally sedentary in nature, but may require occasional standing and walking. Lighting and temperature are adequate and there are no hazardous or unpleasant conditions caused by noise, dust, etc. within the office environment.
Field work is required on occasion where work may be conducted outside in heat/cold, wet/humid, and dry/arid conditions. Some lifting (up to 25lbs) may be required as needed.

You will be a part of our growing Los Angeles transportation team, targeting local projects within Los Angeles County. You will interpret internal or external project challenges and recommend best practices. You will solve complex problems; take a broad perspective to identify innovative solutions; identify applications of functional knowledge and existing methodologies to generate unique solutions. You'll work with the best Engineers and Project Managers in the business, as well as gain experience working directly with our clients. We want you to be empowered to deliver the boldest solutions for everyday living leading functional teams or projects and serve as a best practice/quality resource.
- Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering (Transportation Focus)
- 3-4 years experience in transportation work with an emphasis on infrastructure projects.
- Engineer in Training (EIT) or ability to obtain within 6 months
- Previous Department of Transportation (Caltrans), County or Municipal experience
- Strong Autocad/Civil 3d/MicroStation/Inroads and Openroads background
- Strong analytical, conceptual, organization, communication, and time management skills
Ideally, you'll also have:
- Professional Engineer (PE) license
- Experience with multi-discipline infrastructure engineering design and construction projects
