Jacobs is seeking an Entry Level Transportation Engineer (Highway/ Roadways) to join our Transportation team in Nashville, TN, working on projects that bring innovative solutions to our clients' challenges locally and worldwide.
This is an exciting opportunity for you to join our team and be involved in a variety of engineering tasks for our clients, including planning, design, and maintenance of large-scale infrastructure projects.
In this position you will work with a multidisciplinary team taking on a variety of tasks that blend your theoretical knowledge with practical application. Under the guidance of professional engineers, architects and other senior technical staff you will provide design and engineering services for highways, expressways, and major road networks.
Your responsibilities will include:
* Design and engineering services for highways, expressways, and major road networks.
* Preparation of right-of-way plans, detailed roadway designs, drainage, floodplain management, and intersection improvements
* Utilizing CADD to prepare various engineering drawings, layouts, and/or models to communicate project details in accordance with established standards and procedure
* Collaboration with environmental scientists, utility locates, and surveyors to meet stringent requirements and address maintenance and improvement needs
* Assist in providing technical and operational support for exposure to:
* Highway engineering principles, standards, and practices;
* Project Delivery for key clients (including the design, environmental, and procurement processes);
* Various Related Highway Disciplines (Stormwater management, green infrastructure, utilities, structures, etc).

Your Key Responsibilities
- Design roadways in accordance with AASHTO and MaineDOT specifications and CADD Standards using Microstation and InRoads/OpenRoads.
- Develop and oversee design plans and calculations, technical specifications, and construction cost estimates.
- Prepare engineering reports and technical studies such as design memos, feasibility studies, and concept design reports.
- Collaborate with team members, other disciplines and offices, and sub-consultants.

What Will You Need to Succeed?
- Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering.

- Maine PE or ability to obtain within six months of hire.
- Working knowledge of AASHTO and MaineDOT design standards.

+ Develops scope of work and level of effort and manages adherence to scope and budget on complex or unusual engineering projects within discipline.
+ Oversees completeness and accuracy of project team's work within the technical discipline.
+ Provides technical guidance and mentoring to team members to achieve overall project objectives on complex or unusual engineering projects.
+ Coordinates technical aspects of the project with client counterpart and teaming partners at staff level for work within the discipline on complex or unusual engineering projects.
+ Leads discipline delivery on larger, multi-disciplinary projects. Works closely with other disciplines on multi-discipline projects.
+ Assists with coordination and planning of schedules, hours, and distribution of work for other disciplines on multi-discipline projects on complex or unusual engineering projects
+ Performs other duties as assigned.

+ Bachelor's degree in Engineering and 8 years of relevant experience, or
+ Master's degree in Engineering and 7 years of relevant experience, or
