Pharmacy Technicians I-III assist Pharmacists in providing optimal pharmaceutical care to the patient. They gather, label, and distribute medications accurately and efficiently; they package, prepare, and safely compound medications including hazardous substances accurately and efficiently; they handle, manage, and distribute controlled substances in compliance with regulatory requirements and department policies and assist with drug diversion surveillance; they assist with training new pharmacy employees; they assist with maintaining accurate medication inventories and billing of medications; they effectively communicate utilizing established systems and processes; and they perform responsibilities and duties of the job in a manner that is attentive to age and ability considerations. The Rockefeller University Hospital is funded by the National Institutes of Health and has 20 patient beds for clinical research. The Hospital provides researchers with an opportunity to conduct clinical studies and offers both normal volunteers and people with diseases under study the opportunity to stay in the hospital and help to contribute to important advances in science. The Hospital has an inpatient unit as well as an outpatient center where prospective patients are screened,and many outpatient studies are conducted. The Hospital is staffed 24 hours a day with professional nurses and has nutritional research,social work,art and recreation departments,and a radiology suite,as well as its own research pharmacy. Our staff hospitalist and on-call physicians provide additional medical support to the clinical research teams. Responsibilities
Position responsibilities include, but are not limited to the following:
+ Prepare all medications (research and standard of care treatment) by reviewing and interpreting physician orders; detect therapeutic incompatibilities;
+ Dispense medications by compounding, dispensing, packaging, and labeling pharmaceutical products;
+ Control medications by monitoring drug therapies; advises interventions where indicated;
+ Complete pharmacy operational requirements by organizing and directing technicians' workflow, verifying their preparation and labeling of pharmaceuticals, verifying order entries, charges, and inspections;
+ Provide pharmacological information by answering questions and requests of health care professionals and researchers, counsel patients on drug therapies;
+ Develop hospital staff's pharmacological and research knowledge by participating in clinical research meetings and related activities;
+ Comply with state and federal drug laws as regulated by the NY State Board of Pharmacy, the Drug Enforcement Administration, the Food and Drug Administration, the New York State Department of Health, the National Institute of Health, and the other regulatory agencies that oversee hospital and hospital-based research programs. To be in compliance, the following measures must be taken:
+ Monitor nursing unit inspections; maintain records of all controlled substances; remove outdated and damaged drugs from the pharmacy inventory; supervise the work results of support personnel; maintain current pharmacist registration; study existing and new legislation; anticipate legislation; maintain investigational and commercial drug inventories, dispense research drug products according to protocol, advise management on needed actions, maintain required aseptic procedures, maintain the sterile product preparation area, maintain refrigerator/freezer temperature records, and other tasks as indicated by the Pharmacy Director or other supervisor;
+ Contributes to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed;
+ Perform additional duties as needed/assigned.
Qualifications
**Required Qualifications:**
+ At least 2 years working in a hospital pharmacy, preferably with significant activities involving both investigational drug products and sterile product preparation;
+ NYS Pharmacist license in good standing;
+ Proficient with hospital-based electronic health records, drug order entry systems, and controlled drug inventory systems;
+ Experience dispensing controlled drugs in a hospital setting and automated drug dispensing machines;
+ Ability to read and understand clinical trial protocols and dispense drug products (both sterile and non-sterile products) according to protocol instructions. Must be able to do this without supervision;
+ Ability to maintain pharmacy records in an ongoing manner and write drug dispensing procedures without supervision;
+ Must be able to commit to a full-time onsite, not hybrid, work schedule. **_Job Summary_**
The Technician II, Health Systems Pharmacy provides assistance to the Pharmacist in the daily operations of the pharmacy. Activities include the preparation of and filling of prescriptions, taking pharmacy inventory and processing product returns. The Technician II, Health Systems Pharmacy ensures that all orders are reviewed by a registered pharmacist and records all activity in compliance with regulatory and company guidelines. This job frequently communicates with customers to ensure timely and accurate order fulfillment of all orders.
**_Responsibilities_**
+ Inputs patient data and prescription information into pharmacy information management system.
+ Assists the Pharmacist in filling prescription orders, as permitted by the State Boards of Pharmacy.
+ Prepares medications for dispensing, packaging and shipment.
+ Enters medical supply orders in pharmacy system.
+ Maintains knowledge of and abides by applicable pharmacy laws and regulations.
+ Takes inventory, places orders, checks in drugs and supplies, stocks shelves and removes out-of-date items from the inventory.
+ Communicates with all customers (patients, clinics, care-givers, physicians) in a pleasant and professional manner.
+ Other duties as assigned.
**_Qualifications_**
+ High school degree or equivalent preferred.
+ State Pharmacy Technician license required
+ National pharmacy technician registration/license Preferred
+ IV Certified required in first 90 days.
+ Previous experience working as a Pharmacy Technician is highly preferred.
+ In-patient hospital pharmacy experience highly preferred.
+ Ability to work well in a team.
+ Strong verbal and written communication skills required.
+ Strong customer service skills required.
+ Comfortable performing repetitive motions/tasks is required.
+ Ability to manage several tasks at the same time; Ability to focus on tasks; Ability to evaluate operating conditions; Ability to exercise sound judgment.
+ Past IV experience preferred.
+ Demonstrated ability to use technology such as computers, smart phones and tablets.
+ May require vendor credentialing.

+ Readily learns and applies new information and methods to work in assigned area.

+ Maintains a safe and clean pharmacy by complying with procedures, rules, and regulations.

**_Job Summary_**
Cardinal Health manages the pharmacy at PAM Specialty Hospital of Texarkana. We are currently recruiting for a PRN Pharmacy Technician to work as needed covering vacation/PTO. Must have flexibility in schedule as the facility hours are open Monday - Friday 8AM-4:00PM and Saturday 8AM-12PM.
Our Pharmacy Technicians demonstrate working knowledge of the policies and procedures regarding procurement, storage, preparation and delivery of pharmaceuticals in hospitals and health system settings. The successful candidate will process physician orders for review by a pharmacist and pick and prepare medications or supplies under pharmacist review. They will also restock supplies and medications, deliver supplies and medications, procure supplies and medications following standard purchasing guidelines and provide feedback on the stock level and on inventory control and delivery processes.
Our Pharmacy Technicians are also skilled in own work area within an analytical/scientific method or operational process area. They will also expand skills and techniques in one skill area/process/method and maintain appropriate licenses/training/certifications, as needed. The successful candidate will apply knowledge and skills to complete assigned tasks within own area and work within established SOPs and/or scientific methods and adheres to quality guidelines while working with a moderate degree of supervision.
**_Responsibilities_**

+ Handle doctor calls, faxes and medication deliveries.
+ Organizes medications for pharmacist to dispense by profiling prescriptions; preparing labels and calculating quantities.
