**A Brief Overview**
Under the direction and supervision of a Registered Nurse, and in accordance with Hospital policies and procedures, the Hospital Technician-Emergency Department (ED Tech) provides basic direct and indirect care as a member of the patient care team. The direct patient care activities are related to the following: measuring, recording and reporting patient information, provision of assistance with activities of daily living, and simple treatments and procedures. In addition, the ED Tech assists in maintaining the patient and unit environment in a clean, orderly condition.

+ Contributes in a positive manner to the unit, department and hospital goals.

+ Performs routine patient care under the direction and supervision of an RN. With Patient Care Manager approval, may perform specific skills after documented instruction.
+ Recognizes and addresses age-appropriate and cultural needs when caring for patients. Effectively communicates and interacts with patients, families, staff and members of the community from diverse backgrounds.

+ High School Diploma or GED equivalent
+ Satisfactory completion of an Emergency Technician Training program or equivalent
+ Six (6) months of directly related work experience
+ Basic Life Support Certification issued by the American Heart Association

Summary

The Biomedical Technician III (BMET III) installs, inspects, troubleshoots, repairs, calibrates, and verifies the performance of highly complex biomedical equipment and systems, independent of technical supervision. The individual should be competent in the use of all applicable test equipment and tools required in the performance of duties. The BMET III serves as an advisor to administrative, medical, and clinical staff in the safe use and proper operation of clinical equipment and in developing specifications for the selection of new equipment. • Perform performance assurance (PA) inspections, scheduled maintenance, electrical safety inspections (ESI), and operation verification procedures (OVP) on highly complex and intricate biomedical equipment and systems
• Repair, install, and calibrate highly complex and intricate biomedical equipment and systems
• Inform supervisors of the status of repairs, scheduled inspections, unusual equipment situations, and any customer concerns
• Work with, direct, and document the activities of subcontractors, vendors, and outside service technicians to ensure proper service delivery

**Position Purpose:**
Hospital Services Technicians travel between customer healthcare facilities providing on-site proactive collection and exchange of waste containers for various Stericycle programs, including but not limited to: Sharps Management Service, Pharmaceutical Waste, Controlled Substances, and Document Management. This service is provided at regularly scheduled intervals for assigned facilities.
**Key Job Activities:**
- Travels between customer healthcare facilities to proactively monitor, collect, and exchange waste containers for various Stericycle programs and services, including but not limited to: Sharps Management Service, Pharmaceutical Waste, Controlled Substance and Document Management.
- Interacts professionally with onsite customer staff to ensure service expectations are met or exceeded.
- Maintains a rigid collection and service schedule.
- Communicates duty status on a defined scheduled.
- Perform other duties and responsibilities, as assigned.
- Position requires extensive lifting, walking, bending, and pushing. Must be able to lift up to 55 pounds and push and/or pull carts weighing as much as 500 pounds.
**Experience:**
- 2+ years' work experience or Highschool diploma or equivalent.
- Demonstrate strong communication skills and tact in providing superior. customer service in a variety of settings and situations.
- May require mandatory immunizations and credentialing based on customer requirements.
- Must possess a valid driver's license. Must possess reliable transportation to travel between customer facilities.
- Ability to work independently and with little supervision.
- Knowledge of computer/handheld of software applications including spreadsheets, and application-based programs to track daily KPI's.

Shift Time: 7:00 am to 4:00 pm (working an 8 hr shift with a 30 min lunch)
