Description Katie Weigel with Robert Half Finance and Accounting is recruiting to fill a Human Resources Leader role for a rapidly growing and wildly successful start up in Reno. The position is the first and only HR role within the organization and as such will have a wide variety of responsibilities from very hands on human resources administration tasks, to the strategic end of developing the human resource infrastructure to include: payroll and benefits (currently outsourced); training and development, talent acquisition, onboarding, workforce management, etc. This individual will be responsible for designing and executing HR strategies that support rapid growth, regulatory compliance, and a strong company culture. Key Responsibilities:
Talent Acquisition & Onboarding
- Lead full-cycle recruitment, including job postings, interviews, and hiring
- Design and manage onboarding and orientation processes
Employee Relations & Development
- Serve as the point of contact for employee relations, conflict resolution, and performance coaching
- Support development plans, training, and engagement initiatives
HR Operations & Compliance
- Draft and enforce employee handbooks, policies, and procedures
- Ensure compliance with labor laws (FLSA, FMLA, OSHA, HIPAA if applicable)
- Maintain accurate HR records, manage benefits enrollment, and coordinate payroll with Finance
Culture & Organizational Development
- Partner with leadership to build and sustain a strong, mission-driven culture
- Lead DEI efforts, feedback programs, and internal communications
- Help define internal workflows and job structures as the company scales

Qualifications:
- 3-7 years of HR experience, preferably in healthcare, life sciences, or a regulated industry
- Knowledge of employment law, HR compliance, and startup scalability issues
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills

Position Summary

The Director of Human Resources & Talent Acquisition will be responsible for leading the full spectrum of human resources and recruiting activities for North America. This includes driving regional talent strategies, optimizing HR operations, and supporting a culture of excellence, innovation, and inclusion. The Director will play a key role in aligning HR programs with business needs, ensuring legal compliance, and developing initiatives that support employee growth and engagement. This position requires a hands-on leader with strong operational expertise and the ability to partner cross-functionally across the organization. Responsibilities and Duties

· Strategic HR Planning – Translate business goals into actionable HR strategies tailored to regional needs. Serve as a strategic partner to local leadership teams, ensuring talent initiatives support long-term organizational success.

Requirements

· Minimum of 10 years’ experience in HR leadership roles, including regional responsibility for both generalist and talent acquisition functions.

· Background in technology, manufacturing, security services, or enterprise B2B environments is highly desirable.

· Demonstrated success in leading high-impact recruiting strategies, workforce planning, and employee lifecycle management.

· Strong understanding of compensation structures, benefits administration, and employee retention programs.

· In-depth knowledge of U.S. employment law, with familiarity in managing HR compliance across multiple states.
