**Position Purpose:**
Hydraulic Modeler will be responsible to develop, operate and maintain the hydraulic models within the Engineering Department. Incumbent will coordinate with the corporate master planning department to assist in the development and updating of master plans for the Business Units in the Mid-Atlantic Region. Work will generally be focused on updating models, running operational scenarios, suggesting operational improvements, and documenting models and results. It is expected that engineering resources will be shared and the candidate may work on other engineering projects as assigned.
**Primary Duties/Responsibilities:**
+ Responsible for developing, operating and maintaining the hydraulic models within the Engineering Department.
+ Hydraulic Modeler will assist in the design and management of a variety of capital projects including tanks, pump stations, wastewater, and water main replacement.
+ Responsible for developing analysis and reports to be provided to regulators, internal or external customers as required.
+ Field work at various facilities.
+ Prepare cost estimates.
+ Prepare summaries of model results.
+ The incumbent supports Veolia's commitment to safety by complying with the programs regarding health, safety and protection of the environment.
+ The position demonstrates safe work practices, takes part in safety meetings, and advises supervisor of any non-conforming conditions.

Kiewit has an immediate opening for Senior Costal Hydraulics Engineer with experience in the design and construction of marine and coastal infrastructures to support Kiewit's Marine and Coastal Resiliency (MCR) business across North America. This role presents a unique opportunity to act as an internal engineer at Kiewit, with access to Kiewit's resources and experience to ensure that design work is carried out with the best constructability guidelines in the market. The successful candidate will bring energy, enthusiasm, and a focus on collaboration while providing technical, quality, and safety leadership on projects and pursuits.
The Senior Coastal Hydraulic Engineer will work with an interdisciplinary team that includes civil, structural, geotechnical, as well as estimators, schedulers and other construction professionals, to identify metocean and hydraulic risks and develop appropriate designs for projects.
The Senior Coastal Hydraulic Engineer will be responsible for overseeing the production and/or review of engineering analyses, reports, construction drawings, specifications, and other deliverables. **Responsibilities**
- Be the ambassador for coastal hydraulic engineering at Kiewit, building a strong and trusting relationship with other operating districts that work on Marine, Ports, Maritime and Coast projects across Canada and USA.
- Working on preliminary engineering designs and EPC/design-build pursuits and projects; developing design recommendations and producing design deliverables; serving as lead coastal/hydraulic engineer and engineer of record with responsibility for design recommendations and deliverables.
- Ensuring designs are completed with consistent application of design standards, technical approaches, and in accordance with the design quality management program.
- Providing oversight for subconsultant assisted work and ensuring all quality and standard internal procedures are implemented into designs.
- Providing Subject Matter Expert (SME) services as part of interdisciplinary pursuit teams working to develop innovative and cost-effective bid phase designs, identify key metocean and hydraulic design risks, and develop plans to mitigate those risks.
- Coordinating with the Design and Project Management Team to ensure on-time and on-budget project delivery.

- Perform 1-, 2-, and 3-dimensional coastal/hydraulic analyses using a range of industry standard methods and software.
- Supervise and oversee the work of others as required, and mentor younger engineers in their technical development.
**Qualifications**
+ Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Hydraulic Engineering or Water Resources Engineering. A Master's degree or Ph.D. is an asset.
+ Minimum of 15 years of relevant experience in coastal hydraulic engineering related to marine and coastal infrastructure.
+ Strong communication, interpersonal and organizational skills, particularly in the context of being an ambassador for the coastal hydraulics discipline.
+ Experience in metocean analyses and hydraulic modelling, including computational fluid dynamics (CFD), and experience in the quality control of these.
+ Licensed as a PE in 1 or more states
+ Efficiency, client focus, autonomy, initiative, ability to work independently and prioritize.
+ Proficient in English, proficiency in French or Spanish is an asset
+ This position requires travel to project offices and work sites. Ability to travel based on business needs and requirements, including the physical ability to freely access all points of a construction site in wide-ranging climates and environmental conditions.

**Responsibilities**

**Qualifications**

**Pay Range**
$100,000 to $130,000 per yearannually. This is the lowest to highest salary we in good faith believe we would pay for this role at the time of this posting. Our Taneytown, MD Pump Manufacturing facility is over 150,000 square feet and provides the capability for engineering, design, customer service, machining, assembly, and testing for a diverse product portfolio, which serves all markets (power, oil & gas, water resources, general industry, and chemical). The facility has expanded four times since opening in 1971 to accommodate revenue growth and product line developments. The entire project lifecycle is experienced all under the same roof.
**Role Summary:**
Create hydraulics testing reports for all pumps. Plans, directs, and coordinates manufacturing processes involving machining, assembly, and testing. Develops, evaluates, and improves manufacturing methods, utilizing knowledge of product design, materials and parts, fabrication processes, tooling, and production. Analyzes and improves quality, cost, and delivery by using Lean and Six Sigma tools. Provides engineering support in production departments by trouble shooting and resolving technical issues.
**Responsibilities:**
+ Work through operations teams to achieve established business objectives by driving Continuous Improvement, improving quality performance, eliminating process waste, improving process efficiency, and increasing the skills and engagement of all associates.
+ Daily use of lean manufacturing tools, including but not limited to: Kaizen, Value Stream Mapping, Root Cause Analysis, Problem Solving, 5S, Material Flow, SMED, Visual Workplace, TPM, etc.
+ Identify and solve problems to root cause through the application of Lean methodologies.
+ Lead Lean project development, implementation, and review to enable continuous improvement in a Lean environment.
+ Conduct, complete, and standard process optimizations through process control and control plans to achieve significant and sustainable improvements in processes and quality.
+ Collaborate with site resources to ensure best practices are shared across the organization.
+ Assist in or lead Lean training sessions for all levels of the site.
+ Execution of the performance test of pumps as well as complete units.
+ Provide guidance to all (operational) activities related to the physical testing of centrifugal pumps and complete unit tests and assess (hydraulic) performance and mechanical behavior (vibrations, temperature, sound).

+ Prepare testing proposals for financial evaluation.
