The DNR is seeking to hire one (1) permanent full-time Hydrologist 2 in St. Paul, MN. This position exists manage the Minnesota Department of Natural Resources' (MNDNR) groundwater level monitoring network through observation well maintenance and installation, equipment maintenance and installation, groundwater data analysis and reporting, and helping manage the observation well program. This position will work with MNDNR staff from different divisions and units, local conservation districts, municipalities and contracted well drillers to maintain and expand the monitoring of groundwater levels across the state.
Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
+ Collect, process, manage, review, and deliver data collected in the network as well as instrument observation wells and ensure unit staff are prepared to conduct their work on wells in the network.
+ Lead the operation and maintenance of DNR EWR's groundwater data collection program so that sound data are available for water resources management, planning, and problem solving.
+ Assist with and lead the processing, review, archival, and publishing of groundwater data and prepare and disseminate reports.
+ Manage annual agreements, contracts, and data with monitoring partners and vendors.
+ Research, purchase, manage and distribute groundwater level monitoring equipment including pressure transducers, loggers, telemetry, e-tapes, tablets, batteries, and desiccant. Train DNR and partner staff in use of equipment.
This position has a flexible work arrangement and may be eligible to telework on a part-time basis which is subject to change. If approved, the employee would be required to complete a telework agreement. This position will require reporting to the primary work location on a regular basis.

**Required Qualifications:**

This position also completes work assignments that involve state-wide projects and/or policy.
**Responsibilities include but are not limited to:**
+ Regulate activities affecting public waters by reviewing public waters permit applications in a consistent and timely manner to ensure compliance with applicable State statutes and rules, identifying potential resource impacts, and making permit decisions.
+ Provide advanced technical and planning assistance to state agencies, local government units, watershed districts, lake, river, and watershed associations and other teams in the development of watershed studies, including major Watershed Restoration and Protection Strategies (WRAPS).
+ Provide planning and technical expertise to help local government units, interest groups and landowners develop and implement projects designed to protect or restore watershed functions with the goal of restoring impaired waters and protecting unimpaired waters, ultimately through long-term restoration or protection of ecosystem health.
+ Promote and implement water resource conservation and sustainability.
+ Conduct technical analysis and provide assistance to the general public, local units of government and other resource professionals so that data, information, and regulations may be correctly interpreted to guide sustainable management of our water resources

**Job Description**
ICF is currently seeking an On-Call (Temporary) Hydrologist Technician / Boat Operator to be based out of our office in Sacramento. This position will include long field hours on boats. Hydrologist responsibilities will include the following: setting up and maintaining ADCP equipment, data quality assurance, analysis, and reporting. Previous technical experience operating an ADCP is required.
Field collection will include conducting lower trophic level surveys, larval fish surveys, juvenile/adult fish predator surveys, and collecting water samples for nutrient and chlorophyll analysis throughout the Sacramento-San Joaquin Delta. Work on boats will involve lifting and setting nets, weighing and measuring fish, collecting biological samples, and basic data collection. Surveys may be conducted in adverse weather conditions and candidates must be able to lift 50 lbs. Work assignments would include working up to 25-40 hours a week. Good communication and ability to work closely with others on long days is essential.
**About On-Call Employment with ICF**
Given the seasonal or project-specific nature of our environmental work, ICF often hires environmental professionals as "On-Call" employees. On-Call employees are scheduled for work hours as they become available (we usually schedule work hours a few weeks ahead of time), and each on-call employee is free to accept or refuse the hours assigned to them in a given week. On-Call employees may work concurrent projects outside of their ICF assignment (as long as their outside work does not create a conflict of interest with the work they do for ICF).
**Basic Qualifications**
+ A Bachelor degree in Hydrology, B.S. in Biology, or 10+ years of field experience.
+ Must have valid driver's license and successfully pass a Motor Vehicles Records (MVR) check
**Additional Skills**
+ Knowledge of sampling methods for fish, plankton, and whole water samples in estuarine environments.
+ Ability to follow laboratory and field safety protocols.
+ Technical ability to set up and operate computerized field equipment.
+ Familiarity with hydrologic instrumentation.
