Pay & Benefits
At Apple, base pay is one part of our total compensation package and is determined within a range. This provides the opportunity to progress as you grow and develop within a role. The base pay range for this role is between $181,100 and $318,400, and your base pay will depend on your skills, qualifications, experience, and location.
Apple employees also have the opportunity to become an Apple shareholder through participation in Apple’s discretionary employee stock programs. This position involves a wide range of data engineering and cloud technologies to support the T&E data lifecycle from test planning through evaluation, blending Cloud Services, Data Management, and Software Engineering.
The selected candidate will work on-site supporting our customer at the Redstone Test Center. The person in this role will be responsible for implementing cloud-based solutions to improve the collection, processing, analysis, and visualization of data to operationalize outputs from test events.
This is an exciting opportunity for a successful applicant to pioneer the application of cloud data engineering techniques to test and evaluation, modeling and simulation, and experimentation. In this role, the candidate must be able to conceptualize solutions, convey complex topics to a wide range of audiences, define product roadmaps, and apply new cloud technologies to meet emerging customer needs. The candidate must be able to work extensively with cross-functional teams to achieve customer and corporate goals.
What You'll Do
- Design and implement scalable and secure data storage solutions in the cloud.
- Develop and maintain robust data pipelines for the ingestion, transformation, and distribution of large datasets.
- Utilize cloud services and tools to automate data workflows and streamline the data engineering process.
- Ensure compliance with data governance and security policies, including data encryption and access controls.
- Monitor cloud data systems' performance and implement improvements to enhance efficiency.
- Document data engineering processes, create data flow diagrams, and maintain metadata for data lineage and cataloging.
- Identify stakeholder, customer, and user needs to design new systems and/or improve existing systems.
- Coordinate with program management personnel to prioritize programmatic and technical objectives.
- Duties may include support to the development of technical artifacts, as well as the development of thought-leading white papers, presentations, journal articles, and conference proceedings.
- Overnight travel on an as-needed basis, approximately 10%.

Requirements and Qualifications:
- Bachelor's Degree from an accredited school in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or related field.
- Experience with designing and implementing data solutions on cloud platforms, managing big data technologies, and working with DevOps practices.
- Experience with implementing infrastructure as code for provisioning cloud resources.
- Experience with implementing cloud services on DoD networks and obtaining an ATO.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills, including the ability to communicate results from deeply technical topics to non-technical audiences.
- Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office products.
- US citizenship and an active DoD Secret clearance required
Desired Qualifications:
- Master's Degree from an accredited school in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or related field.
- Certifications in cloud platforms, particularly the Microsoft Azure environment (e.g., Microsoft Certified: Azure Administrator Associate, AZ-104)
- Information assurance certifications such as Sec+, GICSP, GSEC, etc. (equivalent to DoD IAT Certification Level 2).
- Experience with Terraform.
- Experience in data science, machine learning, and/or artificial intelligence.
- Proficiency in continuous integration and continuous deployment (CI/CD) practices.
- Experience in software development environments utilizing Agile methodology.
- Experience in the defense sector and/or aviation, space, or missile communities.
- Experience supporting DoD or Army Test and Evaluation communities.
- Active TS/SCI clearance.
