Job Description
We are the heart and science of medicine. We are UVM Medical Center.
We are looking for an exceptional Sonographer to join a team of patient-centered professionals who have a culture of caring for each other while providing an excellent patient experience. Join us as a Sonographer with the Ultrasound Team and enjoy the benefits and career growth that this world-class academic medical center has to offer right in the heart of gorgeous Burlington, VT.
JOB DESCRIPTION:
The Staff Sonographer performs a variety of routine and complex imaging procedures using high frequency sound waves.
Since ultrasound can be degraded or blocked by various tissues and materials including lung, bowel gas and bone, obtaining a sonogram is a tailored examination requiring technical skill to adjust the machine, experience to find appropriate windows that can transmit an undistorted ultrasound beam, and diagnostic knowledge to obtain extra images customized to the diagnosis of concern and to abnormalities seen while obtaining the basic image set.
This need to heavily customize the examination to each patient and to recognize and diagnose pathology separates the sonographer from other imaging technologists in radiology.
The Staff Sonographer performs diagnostic ultrasounds and other required modalities within individual department(s). Examinations are performed independently, under physician supervision, and with peer collaboration as is appropriate.
EDUCATION:
High school graduate or equivalent.
Graduate of a certified CAAHEP school of Diagnostic Medical Sonography, Radiologic Technology or a two-year allied health equivalent.
Must be ARDMS registered with an ABD or OB/GYN credential.
EXPERIENCE:
One - five years paid scanning experience required
We are also open to Sonographers who have additional experience and training. Please apply today and we can discuss these exciting opportunities!
SCHEDULE:
9pm-7am Sunday, 8pm-6am Monday through Wednesday. While not a requirement at this time, call could be assigned in the future if the business need arises.
WHY UVM MEDICAL CENTER (UVMMC)?
UVMMC is dedicated to our patients, providing the highest quality care for patients and their families. It is a mission that defines our culture, one of teamwork and collaboration. Every employee, whether they work directly in patient care or in a supporting role, has a hand in contributing to the wellness of the patient and the community.
SIGN-ON BONUS & RELOCATION ELIGIBLE:
External candidates who have not worked within the network in the past year are eligible for a hiring bonus based on experience. Bonuses are between $6,000 and $5,000 and are paid out over a few installments. Apply today and our recruiter can share more details with you! Candidates joining us from a distance of greater than 50 miles from their previous role and home are eligible for relocation assistance up to 9,200.
BENEFITS:
At UVMMC, we support our employees as passionately as we care for our patients. We offer a comprehensive, total compensation package that includes salary, health and wellness benefits, paid time off, and more.
