About this Job
Eridan is expanding our Engineering team and is seeking a skilled PCB Layout Design Engineer. In this role, you will be responsible for designing PCBs from layout to manufacturing, ensuring designs meet mechanical, electrical, and cost requirements, while also managing our component library. You will collaborate with vendors, process engineering, and production teams to optimize manufacturability and minimize DFx feedback. The ideal candidate thrives in a fast-paced environment, is adaptable, curious, and communicates effectively.
As our PCB Layout Design Engineer, you will:
PCB Layout and Design:
- Perform complex internal PCB layouts using Altium.
- Create schematic symbols and component footprints as needed.
- Implement mixed-signal design techniques including RF (up to 10 GHz) and high-speed digital circuits (e.g., FPGA/BGA, DDR4).
- Apply routing rules and techniques to ensure signal and power integrity.
- Work with PCB and PCBA vendors to optimize design rules and minimize DFx feedback.
- Select PCB and PCBA vendors in collaboration with Process Engineering and Production.
- Match design tolerances and requirements to vendor capabilities to ensure manufacturability and cost-effectiveness.
- Contribute to developing and improving PCB design processes and internal workflows.
- Build and maintain component libraries using datasheets and IPC standards.
- Participate in DFx and design review processes to continuously improve design quality.
- Minimum 5 years of PCB layout experience, preferably using Altium.
- Experience with mixed-signal PCB design, including RF up to 10 GHz.
- Strong background in complex FPGA/BGA routing and high-speed digital design (DDR4).
- Experience with DFx processes and cost reduction in complex circuits and layouts.
- Proven experience in PCB and PCBA vendor selection and collaboration.
- Knowledge of routing techniques and rules of thumb for signal/power integrity.
- Ability to translate design requirements into manufacturable PCBs aligned with vendor capabilities.
- Experience creating and managing component libraries according to IPC standards.
- Familiarity with optimizing PCB layout for cost, performance, and manufacturability.

Salary Range
Given our anticipated growth, we are open to hiring individuals with varying levels of experience to fill this role. Salary will be commensurate with job-related skills, experience and other relevant factors. The base salary range for the primary location of this role is between $130,000 and $175,000 plus stock options and benefits.

The ECU hardware design team's mission is to ensure our products are designed to target the growing needs of our customers while ensuring robust, well-designed hardware which meets GM specifications and testing requirements from early hardware through the production design. **What You'll Do (Responsibilities):**
+ Responsible for creating and designing the physical layout of integrated circuits (ICs) or printed circuit boards (PCBs). This involves placing and routing components, traces, and other elements to ensure proper functionality and performance.
+ Create / lead / verify the layout design by conducting design rule checks (DRC) and design for manufacturability (DFM) checks. This ensures that the design meets the required specifications, constraints, and manufacturing capabilities.
+ Create / collaborate closely with other design teams, such as circuit designers, system engineers, and packaging engineers, to understand design requirements and constraints. They work together to optimize the layout design for performance, power, area, and manufacturability.
+ Select the appropriate technology and process for the layout design based on the project requirements, such as the target application, performance goals, and manufacturing capabilities.
+ Optimize the layout design for various factors, including signal integrity, power distribution, thermal management, and electromagnetic compatibility (EMC). They ensure that the layout design meets the required performance and reliability criteria.
+ Support ECAD librarians by ensuring development of ECAD library parts meet PCBA Design for Manufacturing (DFM) & GM resiliency requirements.
+ Ensure proper management of PCBA prototype, EVT, and DVT assembly and test at manufacturing contractor.
+ Collaborate with component engineers, procurement, and supply chain teams to select appropriate components for PCBA design.
+ Apply Design for Assembly (DFA) principles to ensure PCBA design is optimized for efficient assembly processes.
+ Work closely with manufacturing and processing engineering teams to optimize PCBA manufacturing processes.
+ Collaborate with test engineers to ensure that PCBA design is testable (Design for Test) and supports efficient testing processes.
+ Create and maintain documentation related to PCBA design guidelines, manufacturing processes, and specifications.

**Job Description - Summary of Position**
This position will assist in the creation of compelling design assets, using multiple media formats, that enhance storytelling to drive awareness, understanding, and action among key stakeholders. Assets include, but are not limited to, presentations, internal emails, web elements, videos, event collateral, training resources, and newsletters. The Candidate will report to the Executive Director of EPPM Strategic Planning and work very closely with the Manager, Strategic Planning to assist with translating complex strategies, information and financial data into clear, digestible visual elements. This position requires excellence in graphic design and visual storytelling, strong communication and collaboration skills, willingness to accept feedback, and a high degree of professional maturity, discretion and confidentiality.
Activities the position will participate in include:
+ Assist in the development of graphics, charts, and infographics to enhance visual appeal, provide clarity, and meet brand guidelines
+ Assist in the development of internal presentations for meetings/events (including executive meetings, board meetings, Investor Day, team meetings, and internal roadshows)
+ Partner closely with the Executive Director of EPPM Strategic Planning and other members of the team to brainstorm creative solutions for communicating complex ideas
+ Assist in the development of video design and storyboarding
+ Assist in the development of web elements and graphics for internal SharePoint sites
+ Develop and utilize a deep understanding of Adobe Creative Suite and Microsoft PowerPoint in order to handle responsibilities referenced above
**Responsibilities and % of Job**
1. Design visually interesting and cohesive presentations, internal communications, web elements, and newsletters - 35%
2. Collaborate with finance professionals and subject matter experts to translate complex ideas and data into clear, digestible visual stories/elements - 25%
3. Design graphics, charts, and infographics to enhance stakeholder awareness, understanding, information retention and action - 25%
4. Ensure all designed materials are on-strategy, consistent, and meet brand guidelines - 10%
5. Stay updated on the latest design trends, tools, and software to continually improve design skill set - 5%
**Prior Relevant Work Experience** **:**
Required: 1 to 3 years
Preferred: 3 to 5 years
**Required Qualifications**
**Knowledge Of:**
+ Proficient in Adobe Creative Suite, Microsoft Office with proficiency in PowerPoint; Microsoft Teams environment; SharePoint; and Canva
**Skill In:**
+ Applying storytelling techniques to develop compelling designs
+ Demonstrating excellent understanding of design principles, typography, color theory, and layout
+ Displaying exceptional attention to detail and a commitment to quality
+ Demonstrating strong communication and collaboration skills
+ Translating sometimes vague direction and/or feedback into desired outcomes
+ Easily working across a wide variety of stakeholder groups-from entry level to C-suite
**Ability To:**
+ Prove graphic design experience through presentation of portfolio of work
+ Adapt to change and pivot as priorities shift
+ Demonstrate strong organizational / project management skills
+ Problem solve and manage multiple tasks under strict deadlines

**Pay Range**
The typical pay range for this role is:
$43,888.00 - $93,574.00
This pay range represents the base hourly rate or base annual full-time salary for all positions in the job grade within which this position falls. The actual base salary offer will depend on a variety of factors including experience, education, geography and other relevant factors. This position is eligible for a CVS Health bonus, commission or short-term incentive program in addition to the base pay range listed above.
