Position Summary:

Under supervision, the Maintenance Technician I is responsible for coordinating daily tasks associated with the assigned Community. Performs a variety of facility and technical tasks that supports the needs of not limited to on-site maintenance, areas of unit turn, inspection, maintenance, and repair.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

The following statements reflect the general duties, responsibilities and competencies considered necessary to perform the essential duties and responsibilities of the job and should not be considered as a detailed description of all the work requirements of the position. HDC may change the specific job duties with or without prior notice based on the needs of the organization.

Ensure that the physical condition of the Community is maintained according to the organization’s operating and safety standards.

  • Complete all service requests and repairs correctly and in a timely manner.
  • Obtain Supervisor’s approval for repairs and replacements that exceed $1,000.00.
  • Administer turn-key operation and ensure vacant units are inspected and prepared in a timely manner.
  • Maintain a proper inventory of supplies and tools sufficient for providing service and maintaining the property.
  • Purchase supplies as required, using a standard purchase order system and proper bidding procedures.
  • Maintain and work with approved vendors as needed within the annual budget.
  • Maintain a preventative maintenance program that minimizes emergency repairs and service requests.
  • Execute knowledge of building equipment, painting and drywall patching, plumbing, along with other minor repairs.
  • Evaluate deficiencies such as excessive wear or troubleshoot faulty minor electrical issues.
  • Perform all other duties as directed by the Community Manager and assist the overall team effort, as needed.


Education and Experience

  • Minimum 1 year in maintenance or related field.
  • Basic knowledge in cleaning, plumbing, electrical, carpentry, boilers, and HVAC.
  • Basic knowledge using hand and power tools.
  • Current driver's license

While performing the duties of this Job, the employee is regularly required to stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms and talk or hear. Principal Accountabilities 

  • Supervisor requests, conduct hands on training of machine operators within the Ground Beef Department
  • Responding to and following up on reactive Maintenance calls in the plant
  • Conducting preventative maintenance (PM) and follow up repairs from PM's within the facility
  • Conducting daily line assignments by receiving a PM and walking assigned lines within department assigned 
  • Performing other duties assigned including maintenance assistance as needed in the entire facility

Required Qualifications

  • Must be eligible to work in the united states without visa sponsorship
  • Must be able to work in the US without an humanitarian Parole status related to Cuba, Haiti, Nicaragua or Venezuela which is subject to the Federal Register Notice of revocation by DHS on March 25, 2025
  • Must be 18 years or older
  • At least one year of experience troubleshooting electrical and mechanical issues on industrial equipment
  • At least one year of experience using hand tools such as drill press, hand drill, wrenches, threading machines, etc
  • At least two years of experience working in a fast-paced manufacturing environment

Preferred Qualifications 

  • Certification in Industrial Electricity I, II, and III
  • Certification in Motor Controls
  • Experience troubleshooting with PLC's.
  • Working knowledge of fluid power, hydraulics, and pneumatics
  • Previous experience with Precision Maintenance
  • Bi Lingual in English/Spanish
  • One year of experience TIG Welding
  • Building Trades (Drywall repair, spackling, Plumbing)
  • Ammonia refrigeration experience
  • Ammonia certifications

What You Will Be Doing:
• Support the Preventative Maintenance (PM) program with a goal of continually reducing unscheduled downtime.
• Make required repairs and troubleshoot equipment issues
• Complete all assigned work orders within the time allotted
• Collaborate across all groups/departments

What We Need From You:
  • Must be 18 years of age or older.
  • Ability to use all power tools, hand tools, drill presses, shop tools, etc
  • Ability to read and interpret documents in English
  • Able to use a variety of communication methods on frequent basis.
  • Use a notebook computer and standard office equipment.
  • Able to sit, stand, stoop and have use of hand motor coordination regularly.
  • Capable of moving up and down building stairways in a multi-level plant to reach job assignments and perform the tasks required.
  • Worker will be exposed to all hazards of machinery and equipment in an operational baking environment.
  • Ability to lift 50 pounds, stack/unstack or carry, stand and/or stoop for prolonged periods of time in a hot environment.
