As our Manager Infection Prevention at California Hospital Medical Center, you'll coordinate all infection prevention related activities associated with surveillance, performance improvement, and education, which are intended to ensure that the facility's patients, personnel & visitors will be protected from transmission of diseases & infection within the facility's environment as identified in the core competency model by the Association for Professionals in Infection Control and Epidemiology (APIC).

**Job Requirements**
Required Education and Experience:
+ Bachelor's degree in a healthcare-related field with (5) years of experience, or an Associate's degree in a healthcare-related field withseven (7) years of experience.
+ Three (3) years of experience as an Infection Preventionist in an acute care facility.
Required Licensure:
+ Certification in Infection Prevention and Control by the Certification Board of Infection Control and Epidemiology (CBIC) to be obtained during the first two (2) years of hire.

**Position** **SUMMARY**
The management responsibilities and duties for the Infection Prevention and Control Program are required to prevent and control the spread of infections and/or outbreaks. The manager takes measures to prevent and reduce risk for the hospital related to hospital acquired infections (HAI) and track and monitor transmissible diseases and notify local, state, and federal authorities about reportable diseases as required. The manager has the responsibility to maintain the program in a state of readiness for compliance with regulatory requirements from federal, state and local agencies (CMS, TJC, OSHA, ect.)
**Minimum Qualifications**
**EDUCATION, TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE**
**Education**
*Master's degree in nursing preferred; Bachelor of Nursing required
*Completed post-secondary education in nursing. Post-secondary includes public or private universities, colleges, community colleges, etc.
· Registered Nurse
· 2 or more years' experience in infection prevention preferred.
· A minimum of experience of two or more years in the related field of nursing
· Certification in Infection Control (CBIC) with recertification every 5 years
· Current license to practice in the State of North Carolina

**Job Responsibilities**
1. Data Analysis
· Completes and updates NHSN modules on current HAI definitions.
· Manages ICP data to include NHSN (for public reporting) and internal leadership reporting.
· Perform surveillance and review/evaluate cases of infections for opportunities in patient care.
· Provide data analysis of all ICP data and develop action plans to applicable leadership teams and healthcare providers.
· Hand hygiene compliance surveillance and education (process improvement)
· Track and monitor transmissible diseases and notify local, state, and federal authorities about reportable diseases as required.
· Establish accepted standards to develop, implement, monitor, and revise infection control policies and procedures to assure compliance with the standards.
· Coordinates infection control risk assessments for construction, renovation, or repairs with the project manager.
· Conducts audits of the environment and addresses any concerns or lapses with infection control practices.
· Coordinates annual Infection Control Risk Assessment for annual planning and disease control.
· Based on annual risk assessment, develops Infection Control Program plan and sets goals.

- Participates in the design of data-gathering instruments and tools to assess the validity of information gathered from these instruments and tools, presents data findings in a clear and actionable manner for municipal leaders, stakeholders and the public.
- Assesses the effectiveness of health programs, initiatives and interventions using date-driven metrics, supports the development of policies, programs and initiatives to improve public health outcomes.
- Serves as a liaison between the municipality and the community, to enhance data-sharing efforts, responds to concerns and proves information on programs and services.
- Prepares technical and narrative reports to summarize quantifiable public health data and project activities; contributes to the dissemination of findings through data visualization, translation of complex data into accessible formats for public documents and client reports, and presentation of analytical results to internal and external stakeholders.
- Maintains up-to-date dashboards and databases to track public health indicators.

Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor's Degree in Social Services, Public or Community Health, Family and Consumer Science, Public Administration AND four (4) years of experience in a field related to public health/human health services programming, public health/human health services planning or public health/human health services program management or research methodology or statistical analysis. Experience in a municipal or state agency may be preferred. A combination of education, experience, and training may be applied in accordance with City of Las Cruces policy.
Licenses/Certification(s)
