Kitsap Mental Health Services (KMHS) is hiring a Registered Nurse to provide high-quality, compassionate care across our 24/7 Services programs, including Adult and Youth Inpatient Units and Residential Services. In this critical role, you'll work directly with clients experiencing mental health and/or substance use challenges, offering medical assessments, medication administration, treatment planning, and crisis intervention. You'll collaborate with a multidisciplinary team to support client safety and progress toward recovery goals in a trauma-informed, person-centered environment.

Primary Responsibilities:

* Engage with team members and collaborate with the shift supervisors to create, develop and sustain a positive and safe working environment.
* Examine and assess clients upon admission, determine if client is medically stable in order to provide care within the scope of practice of 24/7 Services at KMHS.
* Obtain orders from physician including the following:
* admission and provider orders within one hour of admit, when needed, after all pertinent information has been collected and treatment orders have been initiated
* seclusion/restraint orders per WAC 246-337-110


* Document client care, medication, and treatment administration. Evaluate, monitor, and document client responses to medication, treatments, progress to mental health goals, and plan of care.
* Write and implement nursing care plan upon admit. Review and/or revise every 24 hours. Collaborate with team (ie: Providers, MHP's, Shift Supervisors, etc…) to establish and obtain pertinent goals.
* Administer medications and treatment in a safe manner in accordance to standardized nursing guidelines Organize medications for administration as directed by designated provider. Dispose of medications according to KMHS protocol. Count and order medication for clients, maintain house stock, and count and document controlled medications per shift.
* Participate in discharge planning, review of treatment goals, assist in client medication educational needs, ordering of discharge medications etc.
* Provide flexible nursing coverage. Rotate and be proficient in the nursing role in all units of 24-Hours Services at KMHS.

Minimum Qualifications:

EDUCATION: Associates degree in Nursing.

EXPERIENCE: Entry level (no prior related work experience)

LICENSURE: Active and unencumbered Registered Nurse license in Washington State.

Preferred Qualifications:

EDUCATION: Bachelors degree in Nursing.

EXPERIENCE: Two years' experience in one of the following environments: Adult, Adolescent or Child Inpatient Mental Health, and/or Addiction Treatment preferred.

Performance Requirements:

KNOWLEDGE:

1. Maintain a working knowledge and skill in verbal de-escalation skills as outlined in MPAC/CPI trainings and other agency-mandated trainings

2. May serve as mental health professional if qualified.

SKILLS:

1. Skill in establishing and maintaining effective working relationships with other employees, clients, organizations, and the public.

2. Communication - Communicates clearly and concisely.

Abilities:

**Position Profile**
Hospice nurses in palliative care units serve patients whose symptoms can't be managed at home and patients who need respite care while the family caregiver is away. Nurses educate patients and families about the disease process, help manage and control pain and other symptoms and offer solace to those in distress. They are part of the interdisciplinary inpatient hospice team that supports people at critical junctures in their lives, always making a difference. Our Lund Family Hospice Home Palliative Care (inpatient) Unit is a beautiful 12-bed facility located in Gilbert.
**Responsibilities**
§ Develops and maintains therapeutic relationships.
§ Conducts comprehensive nursing assessment.
§ Plans care and intervenes effectively.
§ Provides effective pain/symptom assessment and management.
§ Promotes patient safety.
§ Facilitates smooth transition between care environments.
§ Provides effective patient/family/caregiver/caregiver teaching.
§ Supports the death/dying process.
§ Manages end-of-life ethical issues effectively.
§ Collaborates in providing patient care.
§ Creates timely and accurate documentation.
§ Utilizes resources effectively and efficiently.
§ Adheres to scope of practice/HOV standards and facilitates continuously improved processes/services.
§ Maintains and enhances professional skills.

**Minimum Qualifications**
§ Graduate of accredited school of nursing.
§ Current Arizona RN licensure in good standing.
§ Minimum one year of recent experience in medical, surgical or critical care as a professional nurse.
