We are seeking an experienced Quality Control Inspection Technician to join our team!
Primary Duties & Responsibilities
- Responsible for visual inspection and various measuring devices and machines such as spectrophotometer, inspects received, in-process and/or finished parts to ensure conformance to drawings/specifications. This includes overall measurements, chips/scratches, assessing visual field, coating, mechanical measurements, etc.,
- Performs inspection and cleaning of optical components prior to coating.
- Unpackaging and packaging of delicate uncoated and coated optical components.
- Performs setup, calibration of optical spectrophotometers and other optical instruments to test optically coated witness samples.
- May assist coating technicians with tasks.
Education & Experience
- Minimum 6 years' experience with precision optics
- An associate degree is a plus
- Prior experience and knowledge with testing and measuring devices such as calipers, micrometers, depth/height gauges, spectrophotometer, humidity, temperature, mil spec testing for optical coatings.
- Experience and knowledge with working with MIL, ANSI and other specifications. Familiar with ISO 9001:2015/ AS9100D
Skills
- Experienced with Microsoft word and excel
- Strong interpersonal, teaming, and problem-solving skills.
- Work effectively with other members of Coherent A&D coating and manufacturing.
- Skills in inspection, writing, interpersonal communications and working with cross functional teams.

Perform incoming, in process, and final inspections and tests which includes but is not limited to inspection of intricate castings, components, instruments and apparatus, and large and expensive machines or equipment to ensure conformance with design specification and various quality and industry standards.
Aid with development of inspection instructions/requirements, gages, devices, procedures, and monitoring of their application.
Create and maintain CMM programs.
Perform calibration, CMM inspection, surface plate inspection layouts, and other material and process analysis as needed.
Participate in such quality improvement activities as root cause analysis and corrective and preventive action.
Perform department lead duties as required.
Perform and process inspection and calibration activities at an acceptable rate.
Maintain acceptable attendance record, acceptable overall work record, and purchase the required tools for the classification.

Report defective materials or questionable conditions per established processes.
Maintain the work area and equipment in a clean and orderly condition and follow prescribed safety regulations.
